Chapter 258 - Day 258: Barn (IV)

The door had opened without a problem, there wasn't even a strange sound coming out of it, which further emphasized the fact that the place was brand new.

"Wow... It's bigger than I imagined." Blake's gaze traveled around the surroundings again, only this time the landscape was inside the barn.

The first thing one could see was the large space inside, as well as the way the place was built, Blake had noticed that the walls were made up of a combination of wooden planks, but also a large part of them could see the trunk of the Sharance tree, which was quite strange since it looked like the barn was being sucked over or something.

Before Blake began to advance even further, he saw how a small table with a notebook was in one of the corners of the room, and that had been the first thing that caught his attention since a sheet was on top of it as if it was a little note.

'To Blake…' Those were the words that Blake repeated in his mind as he began to read the little note, and it didn't take him long to deduce whom it belonged to due to its content… 'I wonder if you can read… I assumed that yes, but now I wonder if that's the case.'

Blake mentally answered that question since he was precisely reading what was written.

'Well, if you're reading this, I may not be in this world anymore… Just kidding, I'm Gaius.' Blake could only make a strange face as he thought Gaius's humor was quite peculiar. 'I thought I'd leave this note because I just to finish the barn and the dream is killing me.'

The somewhat messy and tired handwriting on the paper made Blake convinced of Gaius's words... Although deep down he supposed that he always wrote like that...

'Anyway, where do I start?' After that question, there were a lot of ellipses as if Gaius wanted to convey the fact that he really thought too much about what to write next, and that continued to the point where Blake had to turn the page of the paper to continue reading. 'I know. First of all, I hope you liked the end result, I came over after Evelyn's event ended and I collected the necessary materials at the smithy, I thought I'd go say hi, but I noticed you weren't, so I just started building the barn in the area that I thought would not be inconvenient for you.'

That part was easier to understand and Blake didn't find anything strange, surely Gaius had arrived when he was in the labyrinth, so he continued reading what next.

'I had started by making a wooden base before putting all the pieces together, but that's when something very strange happened.' For Gaius to say that something was strange, it really must be very strange, so Blake was curious. 'Some branches began to get out of the Sharance tree and took the wooden boards I was using and then brought them closer to the main trunk, that was like the Sharance tree was a slime catching its prey, so it was very strange.'

Blake had a complicated look on his face as he was trying his best to imagine that scene, but Gaius's words sounded so far-fetched…

'The next thing that surprised me was that the part of the trunk where the wooden boards had disappeared began to open up until a kind of entrance was formed, I approached out of pure curiosity, and to my surprise, a room had appeared and I found the planks of wood fused to the trunk of the Sharance tree… You don't know if there are ghosts or something in your house, Blake? And before you wonder it, no, it was still early and I was still wide awake, so it wasn't a strange dream... Or maybe yes, that would be more reassuring...' The little note had ended there, but Blake's eyes had returned to the table where there was what appeared to be another note from Gaius. 'I'll keep writing here because the space on the previous sheet ran out, which was a bit annoying, I wonder if I can improve a sheet of paper, it would be nice if I could write infinitely on it or something, I might even tell this idea to Raven to sell it as a new product in the smithy… Although selling that in a smithy is a bit strange… I don't know.'

Blake again had a strange expression, but this was because he wanted to tell Gaius the reason why he was running out of space to write rather quickly since it was quite obvious.

'Well, what was he up to?' But unlike Gaius, Blake wondered why Gaius was writing all those questions he was surely asking himself at the time. 'Oh, yeah. After that strange situation I saw the positive side of everything since the base that I had made was still there, just a little different, so I finished adding all the details that were missing, as well as delimiting the main areas of the barn.'

Blake took another look around, and he had to say that Gaius had done a very good job.

'Well, I think I must be asleep right now, so I'll take advantage and explain everything the barn has to offer, so follow the instructions I'll write next.' Blake again had to turn the sheet of paper due to being had run out of space. 'First of all, and possibly the place where you are reading this note, it is the registration table, here is a small notebook that you can use for whatever you think is best, although it is normally used to keep track of the monsters, put their name, age, etc.'

Blake took his eyes off the note to later see the small red notebook on the table, he took it and opened it to later visualize the structure of the sheets that made up the notebook since it was made to carry a very specific order of everything mentioned by Gaius.

'I also left another book, it contains a basic guide to monsters that are normally kept in barns by people, I don't know how helpful it is to you, but Raven told me to give it to you when she found out that I was going to build you the barn.' Blake also saw the little blue book and there were some words with the same title that Gaius had said.

A lot of new information was flooding Blake's mind as he began to see the inside of the book, he was sure he would need to take his time to fully understand it, and that made him remember something quite important, but he would deal with it later.
