Chapter 237 - Day 237: Denial (III)

Blake's figure appeared just inside the top floor of the Sharance tree. The use of teleportation had already become quite normal for him, although some curious ideas were coming to his mind.

"Hmm... If I remember correctly, I have one last teleportation mark that I can define, the first one is at home and the other one is at the entrance of the Privera forest, maybe I should put the last one near the desert..." Blake at least understood that, though he wondered if he could increase the number of brands he could use in the future.

[Space skill, increased.]

And just at that moment, the voice of the system sounded in his head indicating the increase of that skill that was something rare to develop. Putting that aside, Blake walked down the stairs to his farmland and approached a specific area.

It was the space where all the pieces of wood that he had obtained up to this moment were stored, in reality he had never dedicated himself to collecting wood, all the wood he had was the result of him clearing the fields, so what he had in mind happened.

"There isn't enough wood to build the barn." As quickly as that thought came, he shook his head before taking out his ax from his inventory and targeting the large number of logs scattered everywhere.

It took him a while to get all the wood, plus his logging skill also leveled up, so he took the path that would lead him to the smithy again. Just as Blake entered, he was greeted by the sound of the bell attached to the door and the empty counter in the back once more, so it didn't take long for him to approach it.

"Are you still there, Gaius?"

"You're not helping me, Blake. You're not supposed to talk to a piece of iron, if someone looks at you doing that, they'll think you're weird." It seemed that Gaius was taking his role very thoroughly, and his words kept making Blake have a complicated expression. "I haven't moved from here by the way"

"Yeah, I can figure that… I already have the pieces of wood with me." Blake kept thinking there was no reason to ask for a deeper explanation, so he continued as if nothing had happened.

"You can leave them in the oven area, and don't worry, I won't forget. I think the barn will be ready first thing tomorrow." Gaius would never be careless if it was his job, though perhaps he should apply that attitude to more aspects of his life.

"So fast?" Blake didn't know or have a mental picture of what the barn would look like, but he supposed he would have to appreciate the end result.

"Yes, it's not much of a problem. I'm quite practiced at it; I've gone a few times to build them in some villages near Sharance." Gaius continued to speak normally despite the situation he was in.

"I see... By the way, have you always lived here in Sharance, Gaius?" Blake became a little interested in Gaius's past since that topic had come up in his mind.

"No, actually I spent almost all my life in Raidu, but I ended up in Sharance by fate, although I don't regret it."

"Do you have family in the Raidu continent?" Blake was to say that Gaius wasn't expected to come from another continent, which was interesting and he wanted to know a bit more.

"Yes, my father and mother are still there, they are both dwarves, so I guess they like the peaceful life of the clan." Gaius had no problem telling any of that, although he didn't think it was very interesting.

His words had made Blake remember that Gaius was a dwarf, and his confirmation made him sure of it.

"By the way, what about you, Blake? Haven't any memories of your past surfaced yet?" It was Gaius's turn to try and ask Blake some questions, though he knew he might not be able to find out anything due to the amnesia he suffered from.

"About that... I've only told my master- told to Shino and Marjorie about this." Blake was about to call out to Shino and Marjorie respectfully, but he felt that the conversation with Gaius was quite casual, plus Gaius surely wouldn't know who they were his teachers. "But actually, I recovered a small part of my memories, at least now I know what my real name was."

Gaius's somewhat bored expression changed to one of interest in that small instant, and Blake could see it... Although he had to keep his eyes focused on the ground since Gaius was still lying there.

"My real name is Micah while Blake is my last name, but I think you better keep calling me Blake so as not to cause misunderstandings haha…"

"Um…" Gaius made a small sound as if he was thinking about something deeply.

"Something happens?" In the end Blake had to ask the reason for that since Gaius spent five minutes in that same position.

"I was trying to remember a family or clan that had that name, but to no avail."

"Ah, so that was it, Shino also said that he didn't have any clues." Blake chuckled to avoid the situation a bit.

"Yeah, but I guess it's at least good news that you remember something, that means it won't be long before you remember everything." Gaius noticed Blake's demeanor and tried to say a few words of support, but he didn't consider himself very good at it.

"I appreciate that…" Blake appreciated Gaius's words, though the room fell silent after that.

"Not that I'm trying to make you go away, but that was all you needed, wasn't it?" Gaius said, as he couldn't think of anything else to ask.

"Um... I think that's all, but you're right, I should go complete some requests, I don't want to keep bothering you." Blake was thinking of saying goodbye to Gaius after the small interaction between them, and he wouldn't try to get him up from the ground as he felt it was useless.

Gaius also said goodbye to Blake, but before Blake left the smithy and Gaius returned to his fetal position, they both turned their heads, in Gaius's case he just rolled his eyes up, to then notice the red-haired figure that was slowly coming down by the stairs.
