Chapter 220 - Day 220: Bartering (II)

"Can I have everyone's attention for a few moments?" Shara's question was heard by everyone as she continued to use the peculiar device that amplified her voice at the commentators' table.

No one had to remind everyone that it was time to be quiet, so that was exactly what was happening as only the light passing of the wind could be heard in the surroundings.

"Thank you for that, now I need you to pay close attention, especially the remaining participants of the event." Hearing that, the five participants, or finalists, paid more attention. "In First of all, congratulations to everyone for making it to the end, I'm sure you gave your all!"

Shara squeezed her hands into a fist at the same time that she let all her emotion and support escape from her, it even seemed that some stars were forming in her eyes. The audience also expressed their support through applause and shouts, which was no longer strange after all this time.

"I would love for everyone to get first place, but as we all know, that would take a bit of the purpose of making the event a little competition." Many nodded at Shara's words. "So that's what's next up. Maybe some of you are still wondering how the winners will be decided, so I'll let Blaise support me on that."

Shara moved a bit so she could let Blaise take the spotlight.

"I feel that not only the participants enjoyed the event now that I see them all closely." Blaise spoke at the right moment that Shara had passed the word to him, and his comment made some people laugh because it was true. "I guess you already heard Shara, so as the instructor explained at the beginning of the event, each participant carries a bag with a spatial array where they kept the wool they obtained, so each of them must hand over their bag so that the amount they managed to obtain can be measured. Not only the quantity will be qualified, but also the state of it, since if they damaged it in any way, this will negatively affect the number of points they will obtain."

That explanation was quite simple once they repeated it several times in her mind, and it didn't take long for all the participants to identify Shara, moving away from the commentators' area to get to where they were and ask them for their respective bags.

Shara had gotten what she wanted and she said goodbye without further ado. So the participants couldn't help but comment a bit on what was on their minds, and anyone would be interested in hearing a bit about it.

"Sigh... I really thought he was going to die." A boy almost Blake's age once again let out a sigh of relief as he had been doing ever since he heard the event had ended. Even so, the nervousness that remained with him was noticeable as his hands seemed to keep shaking at a slow pace.

"Hahaha! That's nothing, boy. We are very lucky that an instructor was controlling them, if they were wild monsters there would be nothing left of us, my eye can tell that, although of course, it's not there anymore, hahaha!" Another of the participants was a slightly older man who was actually laughing at his own comments while pointing to his eyepatch so everyone knew what he was talking about.

"Hey, you blonde boy, why the hell did you hug the big wooly?" With a somewhat threatening voice, a girl a little younger than Blake asked her that question since she was the last of the participants, without taking Sakuya and Blake into account.

"Well...didn't anyone else feel like doing it?" Blake wasn't going to say it was a plan since he felt no one would believe him, but it seemed like his question didn't help him much either as he saw the confused faces of the girl and the boy while the man from earlier laughed again like crazy.

In the end, everyone separated to wait for the results to be announced, Nana said goodbye to Blake and Sakuya since she had to take all the woolies to the resting place that Sherman had prepared for them.

Blake and Sakuya didn't have much to do after that, so they just started talking about anything until they heard a new voice in the surroundings.

"Hello, can everyone hear me?" That simple voice belonged to the mayor of the town, and that was none other than Wells. An affirmative response came from everyone and made him nod to himself before starting to speak again. "Okay, let's not waste any more time then, I gave myself the task of mentioning the three winners, so pay attention as I won't repeat it twice."

It hadn't been long since Shara had left, though it was understandable that it didn't take long for the results as very few contestants had made it to the finals.

"Now I'll start… In third place, her total score reached a whopping 4500 points, she may not be a familiar face, but that makes her victory all the more special! Give Elda a big round of applause!" As it was obvious, everyone started to applaud for that, but, although that was worth celebrating, Blake could hear a lot of complaints coming from the girl who spoke to him before with a somewhat threatening attitude.

He simply shrugged as a sign that he shouldn't get too involved in it since it seemed like she was throwing a tantrum for not being placed in a higher position.

"Well, leaving the third place defined, here begins the more interesting part, and before mentioning the second and first place, I must say that it was somewhat difficult to decide the winner, but in the end, it was possible to have an adequate number of points, although the difference between them it was only ten points." The crowd showed a surprised expression and sounds at that, though many others also began to say their predictions. "So, without further ado… A number of points that exceeds six thousand, more specifically, 6120 points achieved is more than a respectable second place, so let this come as no surprise to anyone!"

Wells was again keeping silent as he liked the little tension shown because of it, but then he saw in the distance the angry figure of a witch, so he wouldn't exaggerate this time.
