From everything Blake had heard he could get an idea of what the special runic abilities were, but he still paid close attention.
In contrast to the general and specific runic abilities, the main feature of the special runic abilities was that they were exactly the combination of two or more different elements.
For that reason, they received that name since they could only be carried out by people who had special physiques, so like the specific abilities, they could not be replicated with any other element than those necessary to carry it out. Besides that the special runic abilities were, so to speak, the rarest and most difficult runic abilities to master.
Mei also explained all of this to Blake making him realize that his thoughts weren't all wrong, plus he finally fully understood his problem with runic abilities. From what he had understood from the ability he learned from Mei, the ice claws were the result of the combination of water and wind elements, so it was obviously a special runic ability.
Mei saw Blake's expression and had to say that she was quite pleased with his understanding as she heard the question that came from him a second later.
"Does that mean that great master possesses a special physique related to ice creation?" Blake was curious since, if Mei can perform that runic ability, it means that she has an affinity for water and wind.
"Your thoughts are not wrong, but they are not quite right either. What happens is that I really have a special physique with an affinity for water and wind, causing me to be able to use special runic abilities that are based on ice, but those are not my only affinities." With that alone, plus he was a bit surprised, Blake realized something.
"So… That means you're able to use different special runic abilities the more affinities you have... So…" Blake was talking to himself, but Mei completed her sentence at that moment.
"That means you're probably capable of using all of the existing runic abilities... Besides, with your heaven-defying understanding, I wouldn't be surprised if you're capable of this given enough time." Mei had once again closed her eyes contemplating what had been said.
Blake thought about it, the idea was very tempting, but even he himself knew that it was something quite impossible to do. At this moment he already knew a good number of runic abilities, some he didn't even use, so he thought it was something unnecessary to set that goal.
"I think that's all pretty clear, do you have any other questions?"
"I guess not, I understood everything perfectly." Blake was being honest, he felt that he didn't miss anything, although now he was curious about that encyclopedia of special physiques that Mei mentioned.
"Okay, now I'd like to try something else." And after Mei's voice was heard, it could be seen how her figure stood up again and then walked away, seeming to repeat the same scene from before.
She had returned to show a calm expression while she took a particular position, but unlike before, now her figure was slightly covered by a red aura causing Blake to realize what it was.
Once again it could be seen that something was being formed in Mei's hands, the runes of the wind element were visible when small green whirlwinds began to form in them, but they not only remained in that area as they quickly multiplied until their arms were covered by them. The sight that showed could make anyone imagine that it was some kind of armor made of wind, in addition to the fact that her hair fluttered a bit, further marking the strength of those currents, but not even a second passed when a spark seemed to explode causing the whirlwinds to combine with flames extinguishing the wind completely so that a moment later those green whirlwinds from before were now grayish-black in color while small red sparks floated above them making Blake know that this was a runic ability that combined the elements of wind and fire.
To Blake's sight, Mei looked pretty cool looking like that, plus he could feel some of the heat coming from the sparks coming from what he could identify as the smoke covering her arms, maybe if that went on it could put the Sharance tree in danger a bit, but just as quickly as Mei had summoned that ability, she had also made it disappear back into its original state and then asked Blake a question.
"Well, were you able to learn that ability?" Blake heard that, but quickly denied it.
"I couldn't do it, the only runic abilities I can comprehend are of beginner rank at the moment." It wasn't the first time Blake saw an Apprentice rank ability, he remembered that the blond boy named Zaid had used one, but he never heard the voice of the system, so he thought that he couldn't learn runic abilities beyond his level.
"Well, that makes me sigh easily, if you were able to learn runic abilities from higher realms than yours then I really would have had to reconsider all my knowledge of the runic path." Mei's words were not strange to Blake, although that also made him remember something.
That time when he had been inside what seemed to be the runic ability that contained the Timeless Slash, that person had told him that it was his strongest runic ability. Blake guessed that this man must have been a runic emperor or even a sovereign in the past, so the runic ability should be at much higher levels than a beginner or apprentice rank runic ability, but he was still able to learn it.
Of course, after that it had turned into a beginner rank ability, but still he was able to learn it.
Mei was looking at Blake lost in her own thoughts at that moment, she was still looking for some other test that she might be interested in giving him, but after everything that happened, she thought that there was really nothing to prove anymore, so she had come to her conclusion of Blake's situation… And she could only define him as a complete enigma.
