Chapter 139 - Day 139: First Cut (I)

It could be said that time seemed to stop without Blake really doing anything, he was just standing in the middle of the night while his head constantly screamed at him that he had to escape from there at any cost while the enormous figure of what had become the raccoon was still watching him carefully as if waiting for any useless movement on his part.

From Blake's point of view, it was practically impossible to take on that thing, its size and build alone was enough to intimidate him, plus the sense of danger it conveyed made it even harder for him to even consider moving.

The fatigue was still plaguing his body after the previous confrontation in addition to the wounds on his body making presence through the pain, he had used his remaining strength to stand up and grab both his sword and shield unconsciously, but, even so, taking it and seeing how his hand trembled continuously was enough to realize that he wouldn't achieve anything that way.

'What do I do?' That question was the first thing that popped into his mind, but unfortunately, he didn't have an answer for it. 'Escape is useless in this situation, I'm not fast enough to do so and it won't do any good to use teleport, before I can cast the spell, I'll be torn in half by their claws...'

Blake was constantly discarding all the ideas that were going through his head, his only goal was to get out of there alive, and ignoring the beast that was a few meters from him, in the end, he cleared his mind and bet everything on the next movement.

"Shadowless!" In less than the span of a breath, Blake had completely disappeared from the raccoon's vision. That was his plan, using his invisibility mode and spending all the strength he had left he would escape as fast as he could.

Going into that mode he realized that the raccoon hadn't really followed him with its eyes which convinced Blake that it couldn't see him, he had already advanced a few steps and he had even used a quick healing spell to get rid of the discomfort in the wounds on his body.

Blake was deeply relieved that his plan seemed to be bearing fruit, but from one moment to another, that relief turned into a simple sensation of pain the instant a rumble lingered in his ears, and his body when again was thrown to the side of the field.

Although Blake had indeed used his ability to turn invisible, that was not enough for the monstrous raccoon to discover where he was and then make a huge jump in his direction, and fall a few centimeters from his position causing the earth to tremble and a shock wave was enough to hit Blake.

His mind was working as fast as it could to guess how the raccoon was able to know where he was, but it didn't take long before he remembered something too obvious.

'Tsk... Did it catch my scent or something?' It all made sense quickly causing Blake to throw away his last escape plan and return his attention to his enemy, it seemed that everything had been useless and what would happen was inevitable, but resigning himself to what fate had in store for him, in his mind the last plan he had left was formed and that was the one with the least chance of surviving... Fight! "I don't think you're the same raccoon as before, that's pretty obvious, but it doesn't matter, that doesn't change my goal, I came here to defeat you... And that's what I'll do!!"

"Grraaaaghhhhh!!!" A louder roar came from the raccoon, compared to when it was the small version of it, the trees shuddered just from the sound wave at the same time Blake firmly took his weapon and metalized for what would happen next.

"Come!!" Blake had already made his decision, and that was enough to clear his mind of all those unnecessary thoughts and the fear that he should feel at that moment, his desire was to survive at all costs, and if he had to fight to achieve it, then he would give his all to do it.

The raccoon wasted no time and its huge figure crossed the short distance that separated them to bring its fist closer to the little blonde in front of its eyes, but unlike what it thought, it did not feel how its hit connect again and a slight pain appeared suddenly on its body causing it to take a few steps back and the fury it felt simply grew even more.

The cause of that was obviously Blake, remembering the previous attacks he had received, he was sure that it was useless to try to block it, so he did not waste his energy on it and simply used his shield to deflect the attack that coming towards him.

Simply performing that task was easier said than done, the force behind that move was enough to snap several trees like branches, but even with the difficulty, Blake was able to direct that attack to pass to one side of him burying it in the ground before taking his sword and using a quick lunge before launching a vertical slash towards the bewildered raccoon.

'I only did forty damage to it; this doesn't look good...' That comment came out the moment Blake could see how after his attack; the typical numerical values came out indicating the damage he had done causing him to sigh about your chances of winning.

But he didn't have time for that as he had to move quickly to dodge the attacks coming at him. One moment the leaves on the ground seemed to come to life as a green aura surrounded them to the next moment they shot out with great speed to where Blake was standing.

He managed to see them in time and, although he was able to move, he was unable to prevent some of them from passing through his defenses and coming into contact with his body causing several groans of pain to come out of him.
