"No, I've never worn a skirt…! Okay, let's stop, all I want is to see Shara and give her a birthday present." A new silence fell over the room, Monica seemed speechless after hearing that while having a looked as if she was pondering something until new words came out of her.
"It's true what you say?" She was reconsidering her attitude due to Blake's words.
"Of course."
"Hmmm... Okay, I'll let you get close to my sister today, but just for today!"
"Really?" Blake found it odd how easily Monica gave him her permission.
"But you'd better give her something she loves!" Hearing once again that she agreed, Blake was about to ask her again about Shara's location, but it wasn't necessary once a cheerful voice accompanied by an incredible number of flowers made its presence known.
"Did something happen, Monica…? Ah, I didn't expect to see you here too, Blake."
"Good morning, I actually came to look for you."
"To me? Why...?" But her words were abruptly ended once she left everything she was carrying in her hands and approached Blake who at that moment had a small bouquet made up of the three types of spring flowers that gave off beauty and brightness enough to attract the attention of anyone.
"Happy Birthday!" Silence had returned to the room, out of the corner of his eye, Blake could see how Monica had slowly left the store to fulfill her promise while he began to worry a little because Shara had not said a single word. 'Don't tell me I blew it...'
But all his worries were quickly put to rest as he watched the bouquet leave his hands and felt Shara pull it closer to her at the same time a characteristic expression could be seen on her face.
"It's the first time I see flowers as beautiful as these... It's a normal thing for me to be in contact with them, but I can feel how special they are... Thank you, Blake!" The light in the room was already enough to illuminate the entire place, but when Shara's smile was added it seemed as if everything around her began to shine as the flowers around her drew their full attention to her.
"I'm glad you liked it." Blake was pleased with her expression.
"I really appreciate it, can you believe that even I had forgotten my birthday myself, hehe…"
"Really...?" Blake asked that question laughing a little too. 'It was great that Raven made me remember or I would have forgotten too.'
"But actually, I should be more excited, today is not like any other birthday!"
"Is there something else?" Now Blake was curious as to what she had to say.
"Yes, after all today I am five decades old, I have practically become an adult!"
"So that was it... Wait, what?" A slight hint of strangeness was on Blake's face, he was still analyzing what Shara had just said, but he still didn't really understand.
"Something happens?" Shara noticed Blake's expression.
"I'm sorry, but did you just say that you turned five decades old?" Blake needed to make sure he had heard correctly.
"I said that."
"Does that mean you're fifty years old?"
"Exact!" Again, Blake's head began to work as fast as it could to accept what he had just heard, taking the logic he had with him, it was practically impossible that Shara was fifty years old, there must be a mistake somewhere. "Did you think I was younger?"
Shara was just playing around now as she thought Blake had considered her younger.
"Actually yes, I could have sworn you were no more than eighteen, I was really surprised to hear it." Saying what he had thought, Blake hoped that everything would end at that moment, but the huge laugh that came out of Shara was enough for a new face of confusion will fill his face. 'Did I say something funny?'
"Hahaha! I'm sorry, it's just...! Hahaha!" The laugh continued to be heard for a few seconds until it was seen how Shara wiped the small tears that came out of her eyes and made her breathing return to normal. "That was a really good joke, Blake. I may not look like I'm the age I said, but you can't mistake me for a little girl, either."
Blake still didn't understand what she meant by that, and the look of confusion on his face was quickly caught by Shara after recovering from her earlier burst of laughter.
"Wait, are you serious?"
"Yes, I think there is something strange here." The look of confusion was not only on Blake's face this time, and after a few more seconds passed, a gleam flashed in Shara's eyes as she got an idea of what was going on.
"It's true, I had forgotten that you lost your memory! Surely you also forgot how the years and seasons work." Hearing that, Blake raised an eyebrow in expectation at what Shara had to say, he knew that there were still things he did not understand at all, there were even things that he remembered, but they were totally different from what was normal in the town, so he only promised to listen to what she had to say. "Although I must say it, it really seems strange to me that you forgot that and confused how the years work, but anyway... Pay attention."
And taking a breath, Shara began with her explanation.
"A year is made up of four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter; each season spans thirty days, so a year has one hundred twenty days, so you can get an idea of how it works." Writing this down in his head, Blake realized he had a very different perception of what a year actually was, and in truth, he did not know the reason for that, so he was grateful that Shara was telling him all that.
