Chapter 126 - Day 126: Different perception (IV)

Shara paused for a bit in case Blake had any doubts but continued once she saw him fall silent.

"As you can see, I just turned fifty years old, this is the normal age to consider someone as an adult, for example, Monica has almost three decades of life, for that reason I thought it was strange that you said that I seemed to be eighteen years only... I really don't know if I'm explaining it well since this is more common sense than anything else, I hope you have understood it."

"Don't worry, I think I managed to understand it completely, it's actually strange that I had another idea of how the years worked, thanks for the explanation." Blake said that, but he still felt kind of weird about it.

"You're welcome, by the way, do you know how old you are or when your birthday is?" Shara was now curious about Blake's age.

"Now that you mention it…" Blake could only give a nervous laugh.

"I guess not, haha... But don't worry, I'm sure you'll remember, and if not, we just need to pick a date to celebrate!"

"I'll keep that in mind, although it doesn't seem like our ages differ much, should I assume I'm fifty years old too?"

"Hmmm... Maybe that will work for now, I don't see why not, it seems that today we have become adults, hehe."

"Looks so, haha." Receiving a final thank you from Shara and a suspicious look from Monica after she re-entered the flower shop, Blake emerged with a sigh of relief and new information about the world around him. "This is not the first time this has happened to me, I keep having strange ideas about how the world works, is this also part of my amnesia?"

Leaving that idea in the back of his head, his legs began to move to their next destination, on the way there was nothing worth mentioning besides giving a quick wave to Raven who was on her way to the flower shop.

The landscape kept changing and was quickly replaced by the image of the huge inn that was separated by the artificial pond leaving only the small wooden bridge to cross it.

He had entered since he was thinking of talking to Shino to find out exactly what the letter she sent was about, and quickly he could see her on one of the tables that were in the reception, but in addition to her, Blake realized that she was accompanied by an old man who was none other than the mayor of the town.

"Good morning, Blake. I take it you saw my letter." Shino was quick to notice his presence.

"Yeah, this…" At the same time, Blake couldn't ignore Well's gaze.

"Didn't you expect to see me here, boy?"

"Honestly no, may I know what exactly is going on?" Blake's question was understandable and Shino had to enlighten him a bit.

"Well, the reason for my letter has nothing to do with this, but I suppose you are related to the matter that the mayor came to discuss."

"Exactly, Marjorie already informed me about what both Marian and you had to see in the forest, I came to tell Shino, but I guess it's good that you're here, I'd like to hear in more detail what you found." Understanding what he meant, Blake began to recount exactly the adventure he had experienced with Marian, as well as explain what he had done to get out of there alive.

"Everyone knows that there are traces that someone was inhabiting the Privera forest in ancient times, but I never imagined that those ruins you speak of existed." Shino was interested in the story.

"I also can't believe you discovered that pesky raccoon's hiding place and it was all probably under rubble now." Wells didn't seem too surprised as his attention was on what happened to the raccoon.

"I'm really sorry about that, but there's still hope, plus we don't know if the raccoon is still on the loose, it probably took it upon itself to move all the stuff to a safe place." Blake tried to keep Wells from getting too upset.

"Hum, that doesn't reassure me, if it's still on the loose it just means more unnecessary trouble."

"But at least we can say that we discovered where it hides, its species is characterized by being spiteful, if it is really still out there, it will not escape until it has taken revenge on Blake." Shino laughed a little mentioning that.

"Well, then I guess it's not all bad news."

'Does that mean I'm the bait?' Blake had his own thoughts on that, but he realized that it was true.

"I've already asked you to take over and it seems you've made progress, I guess I can't complain, boy."

"You shouldn't worry, mayor, after all, he is my disciple, you will see that everything will be solved soon."

"I hope so, my back has been killing me all week and the stress doesn't help at all."

"Do you need help with that?"

"Don't bother, Shino. I'll just go see Marjorie."

"Ufufu, I see, I appreciate your visit, I hope I helped you." Saying goodbye for the last time, the figure of the mayor left through the door at the same time Blake turned his attention to his master.

The pleasant atmosphere of the inn and the sounds of guests moving around were enough to make one feel a part of it, but when he saw the face of his master directly, everything around him seemed to turn completely.

"I can't sense the level of the runic path you're on, so I guess you figured out how to hide it by now…" How quickly Shino realized all of that surprised Blake, but he was a little glad too. "Although I find it a little hard to believe that you figured it out on your own, is there anything you want to mention?"

Seeing himself cornered, Blake decided to tell that it had been thanks to Marian since she had told him how to hide the sensation of producing runic essence, so he thought it would work in the same way with the elemental essence, thus managing to hide his level of strength.

Blake believed that he would get out of that situation, but Shino's deep pink eyes hadn't stopped looking at Blake with a judging gaze. He tried to be as serious as possible, but it seemed the pressure was too much for him.

He had already planned to do it, but at that moment he let out everything that was on his mind and explained to Shino that he had learned the runic ability that was supposed to belong to a sovereign.

That very thing had made Shino's complexion incredibly serious, and she didn't take long to express what she felt as she put all her attention on Blake's body, even using rök to be completely sure that he was good.

"First of all, I should punish you for doing that without consulting me, we had already told you how dangerous it was, but you still didn't listen to me." Shino's voice was loud enough, but only Blake was able to hear her and at the same time he began to feel guilty.

"I'm really sorry, but it turned out to be a beginner rank ability in the end, plus I got pretty good stuff, you could say I was lucky." Blake listed the positive points, but that wasn't going to be enough.

"Yes, luck is also a strength of each person, but that's not why you should risk your life to get something that you are not even sure will be beneficial for you!" Shino's scolding reached Blake as he kept silent as best he could.

That lasted a few minutes until Shino thought it was enough and quickly changed his attitude. She was really upset with Blake, not even though she would think of doing such a thing, but remembering what he said, she also felt surprised.

Runic abilities made by sovereigns were very mysterious no matter what level they were at, and even though Blake had said that it was only a beginner rank ability, she would be sure to check it out later.

But now, she had to do something for Blake to learn a lesson, and the idea she had for a long time was perfect for that. It didn't take her long to express it, and those very words would be something that would give Blake a lot of chills in the future.

"I wanted to wait a bit longer, but seeing your impatience, I already decided… Your training starts today!"
