"So that's the raccoon that has been stealing things in the town, I thought it was a normal one, they can rarely use magic." It was the first time that Marian had seen the thief and she was already analyzing it.
"Well, you can be sure that this one can do it, besides, this is not a good place to face it." Blake was also looking for some way to get out of that place since it would be difficult for him to fight anyway.
"The best thing would be to leave this corridor, there was a more open area where we came from, at the count of three we started running, okay?"
"Okay, I'll cover our backs the best I can." Quickly forming that plan, both Blake and Marian turned their attention to the raccoon that hadn't stopped growling at the same time it seemed to be protecting all the treasure.
"Three!" And without Blake noticing, the only thing that entered his sight after hearing that scream was the figure of Marian receding into the distance making the situation completely confusing.
"You were supposed to count to three!" Without a second thought, Blake began to run as well until he managed to catch up with Marian at the same time that he heard the constant screeching of threats behind him.
"That's what I did! Now run with all you might!" The chase continued on as Blake did his best to fend off the wind blades coming at him and threw a few fireballs to try to hinder his pursuer.
'I should be thankful that there are no traps in this place...' But as if what he had just said was a joke, after passing through a tile and seeing how it began to sink so that after several holes appeared in the walls, it was enough to realize how unlucky he was.
"Hold me and jump! Quick!" Following the instructions as fast as he could, Blake took Marian in his arms and jumped as high as he could so that later he could hear the voice that came from her. "Sonic wind!"
The next thing Blake noticed was that both he and Marian were being fired in the opposite direction of the spell she had just cast, dodging a huge number of arrows that had just come out of the walls as they went.
"Ugh…" Blake tried not to stumble when he felt his feet touch the ground again.
"Good landing!" Marian hadn't lost her excited attitude and it didn't seem to help Blake.
"Let's not do this again! but I think at least that will slow it down..." But that idea was completely destroyed when he saw how the raccoon crawled at full speed avoiding being hit by the arrows that just flew past above its body.
"That's cheating!" Marian was also sure that at least that would buy them time, but she didn't count on the raccoon's ability.
"This is no time to complain, come on!" Picking up the path again, after going around in circles a few times, they finally managed to reach an area open enough to get into position the next instant when they noticed that the angry raccoon had arrived too. "Why are you so persistent? Last time you ran away as fast as you could!"
But despite not being able to understand it, when Blake heard a growl of fury directed at him again, he knew that this time it seemed that the raccoon would not escape the confrontation.
"Tsk... Marian, stay behind me, I'll keep him away as long as I can."
"Okay, it would be great if you keep it busy, I'm sure one spell will be enough to take care of it." The situation became tense again, both Blake and the raccoon advanced a few steps to get into each other's attack range at the same time as Marian walked away while seeming to concentrate.
"I don't know what you're trying to do, but I must tell you that I'm not the same as a few days ago, this time it won't be that easy." But even after saying those words, Blake had to quickly raise his shield to try to stop the circular cut made by wind that came directly towards him, only for him to finally see how his small shield was divided into two parts at the same time that he fell to the ground in slow motion and the system made an appearance.
[Species: Raccoon. Status: Grumpy. Class: E.]
The surprise that Blake felt was visible on his face, he clearly remembered that he had always been able to defend himself against the raccoon's attacks with relative ease, but the moment he blocked that last movement he realized that it was totally different from what he remembered.
'What just happened?!' But he had to focus quickly as he raised his sword to block the claws going straight for his neck, as several sparks could be seen from the clash between the two of them.
"Grrrggg!!" The raccoon expressed all the anger it felt through its typical growls.
"I don't understand what you're saying! But I'm sure it's not a nice thing!" The fight continued its course, the raccoon kept lunging at Blake every chance it got while summoning wind slashes that Blake had to continually dodge and defend, although he didn't always succeed.
Although he managed to make some cuts on the raccoon, it was not really affected by them, maybe everything would have been easier if he used some runic ability, but with Marian present, he could not risk being discovered.
