Chapter 119 - Day 119: Explosive adventure (I)

The look Marian wore was one Blake had seen many times before, and when he heard the scream coming from her the next second, it was enough for his suspicions to be correct.

"That's incredible! How long have you been a wizard? I'm sure it hasn't been more than a few days before you didn't have the same feeling and you were already able to form five runes, now I understand why my grandma took you as a disciple." Blake could only give a tired sigh when the same situation that he was already used to was repeated, and he kept hearing the expressions of astonishment that came out of Marian. "Sorry, I think I got carried away, but seriously, it's the first time I've met someone like you, I thought I was fast when it came to forming runes, but it even took me a whole month to form the same ones as you."

"So... Could you explain to me what they are exactly and how they are formed? My knowledge is minimal regarding it." Blake hardly realized that he was cheating again, if Marian had taken that long to form the same runes as him, he was experiencing a new oddity.

"That's even weirder, do you remember what exactly you did to form them?" Marian felt that Blake was joking with her, but that didn't seem to be the case.

"Actually... I think I just absorbed runic energy and they formed after a few moments." Blake explained what thought he had done, and Marian understood everything as she gave him a simple explanation.

"There you have your answer, in simple terms, for a wizard or witch of One-rune to become one of Two-runes they must form ten secondary runes, these are necessary so that in the end the drop of runic essence that is inside it absorbs them and, in this way, a puddle of runic essence is formed."

"A puddle?" Blake didn't really understand that.

"Yes, it is quite simple, just imagine that your essence drop is like a common water drop, when more drops accumulate together, in the end, a small puddle can form, you just have to follow that logic and you will understand."

"I see... So, if I want to become a Two-rune wizard, I'll have to form my own puddle of runic essence?" Actually, it seemed too simple if he looked at it that way...

"Exactly! I see that you learn quickly. You should also know that with each new secondary rune you form, the power of the spells you cast will also increase, so it will be of great help to you; As you said, the only thing you have to do to form them is to accumulate runic energy and then convert it into runic essence and absorb it with your drop of essence to form runes, of course, the more progress you make, the more difficult it will become, but you must not give up!" Blake appreciated all the new information Marian was telling him and was about to ask her something else, but she was quicker with a question that unnerved him. "By the way... How did you use a runic ability that time?"

"What?"

"At first I thought it was my eyesight playing tricks on me, but I'm sure I saw you performing a runic ability at that time." Making his head work as fast as possible reproducing that situation with the runic boy, Blake wanted to punch himself in the face when he realized that what Marian was saying was true.

'I think I got carried away at that point…' Blake had no excuse to escape Marian's judging eyes, but he knew he couldn't go around telling just anyone about his situation, so he deeply hoped that Marian would believe him. "Actually, I think you just imagined it, hahaha…"

"Hmm... Are you sure?"

"Of course! I mean, you know I'm a wizard, how is it possible that I'm also a runic? That goes against all common sense, hahaha..." And after more strange looks from Marian and more forced laughter from Blake, the situation calmed down as the suspicions seemed to die down.

"I guess you're telling the truth, actually it's really impossible to be both things at the same time, I don't know what I was thinking." After having evaded those suspicions, they both continued to enter the ruins, the view didn't change too much, the same symbols and Illustrations kept popping up all over the place as well as some scrolls that were impossible to read, most of the things left behind in that place by the past weren't really a treasure. "Well, I must say this is a bit disappointing, I was hoping to find some emery flower or even some spell scroll, but there's only cobwebs and dust."

"I guess it's normal, I don't think anything would like to grow up in this kind of environment.t"

"Never say never, treasures are always hidden in the strangest places." It had been a few hours since both of them started to investigate the whole place, and they were actually getting bored of how monotonous the whole way was. They agreed to investigate just a little more and if there wasn't something interesting, they would just leave everything for another day, but just as they took a few more steps, they stumbled upon something completely different.

"This is..."

"Hmm... This looks like a thief's loot." In front of both of them, a huge mountain appeared with a variety of objects that seemed endless.

"What are all these things doing here?"

"I don't know, but... Wait, that's one of my grandma's walking sticks!" Marian had walked over to see if that was true at the same time Blake was doing the same.

"There are various things here as well... This trophy has Carmen's name on it..."

"And this is one of my hats!"

"All of these things probably belong to the village, perhaps...?" But just then, a familiar sound reached Blake's ears and he quickly brought Marian down to crouch just as a blade of wind slammed into the wall behind them. "Marian, are you okay?!"

"I think, what was that?!" Marian had also been aware of the noise produced by that sudden attack.

"It seems that the thief just found us." Despite the dim light in the place, the small figure of the raccoon that tormented the town appeared in front of both of them at the same time that a huge growl came out of it indicating that the situation would become something difficult.
