Chapter 86 - Day 86: Super fail (IV)

"The prizes will be handed out in a few moments by the mayor's cute granddaughter, so in the meantime, you can catch your breath and get energized by all the food around you!"

"This has been another successful year and we loved joining you all with our feedback!"

"And remember, if you're too tired to go home, you can always go to the Miyako Inn so you'll be as good as new tomorrow, even if you like it so much you want to stay, I'll give you a discount, hehe!" And with one last blow to Sakuya's head from Shino, the event continued with the same force and joy as before as no one seemed to really care about the body in the middle of the plaza.

And like an alarm clock, the voice of the system was enough to wake up the blonde who was in a room that he already knew too well.

"What... What happened?" It was the first question that came from the confused Blake before Marian was discovered.

"You finally woke up, I thought I would have to use some extra spells and medicine on you, it seems that the blow was too strong." And listening to what she said, Blake quickly remembered the reason why he was in the pharmacy room at that time.

"You were very close to winning, but I guess everyone has their unlucky moment, don't be discouraged next year you can try again. Seeing as you're already awake, my work here is done, and I still have more patients on my hands, you can stay a little longer if you feel a little dizzy, but I don't think it will happen, see you later, Blake."

"Yes, thanks for everything, Marian." And once the girl with light blue hair crossed the door, Blake was left alone with his thoughts. 'It's a shame I lost at the end, but I had fun, now I can't wait for next year.'

After he saw that he had nothing else to do, he left the pharmacy as night covered the entire area.

'Looks like I was unconscious for quite a while, I hope I won't see a single super fail for a long time, I felt really strange, I even think I could hear colors for a moment, and that's worrying enough.' As he continued on his way to house, he noticed how the light of a building entered his vision and thought about going inside. 'Looks like the smithy is still open, maybe I should come in and say hi, plus I'd like to know who won the event at the end.'

And without a second thought, Blake opened the door to be greeted by the constant banging of a hammer against iron and tried to get the attention of whoever was responsible for it.

"Hello, Gaius!" But as before, Gaius did not take his eyes off the iron that he kept hitting continuously. "I guess he really doesn't listen to me."

"You need to speak louder if you want him to." Not expecting a certain redhead girl to appear at that moment, Blake jumped in surprise at the voice that just sounded from beside him.

'I didn't even notice when she showed up.' Blake calmed down enough and started his talk with Raven. "You surprised me, Raven... Isn't there another way to get his attention?"

"Well... Not that I know of." And realizing that there was no other solution, Blake opted to approach Gaius and yell as loud as he could to succeed this time.

"Huh, oh, Blake, Raven, what's up?" A little happy that he finally listened to him, Blake was about to explain that he was just passing through, but he didn't even have time for that when Raven said something to Gaius leaving Blake totally confused.

"Blake says he wants to hold your hammer."

'What me what?' Even with that doubt in his head, he had to turn his attention to Gaius's action.

"Really? I don't mind showing it to you, here you go."

"But I..."

"Poof!" But before Blake even finished what he had to say, he saw how Gaius had fallen to the ground and light snoring was beginning to come out of his mouth as Blake turned his gaze to Raven for an explanation.

"He's just tired."

"Tired?"

"Yes, as soon as the festival ended, he hasn't stopped forging, he hadn't slept for days preparing everything for the festival, but once he grabs his hammer, it's almost impossible for him to stop forging."

'So that's why she said that I wanted to hold the hammer from him.' Hearing that explanation, Blake could understand everything. "I see, is it okay for him to stay on the ground?"

"Okay, he does it all the time." After Raven said that, a familiar silence formed between her and Blake, but it was quickly broken by the question Blake wanted to ask earlier.

"By the way, Raven, do you know who won the event?"

"Yes." A long silence followed Raven's reply, so Blake knew it had to be something more specific.

"Could you tell me who won?"

"Daria came in third place while Blaise came in second."

"And the first place?"

"It was me."

"I see... Wait, was it you, did you win first place?!"

"Yes…" And with that statement, Blake was lost in his own thoughts for a moment.

'Well, she said she stood still the whole time, but I didn't think that technique was feasible to win, maybe I'll use it next year.' Blake noticed his silence, so he didn't take long to congratulate Raven. "I see, congratulations Raven, I hope to have a rematch next year, haha!"

The silence was present again, but this time it didn't feel awkward, but it was a pleasant silence between them.

"I hope so too..." Those words alone were enough for Blake to smile, and maybe his mind was making him see things, but Blake could swear he saw how Raven didn't seem to have the same serious expression she had the whole time while she said that, and in its place was a small smile that was enough to captivate him completely.
