Chapter 16 - Day 16: Strange encounters (III)

At that moment, what seemed to be the sound of a large explosion was heard, and the whole place was filled with a strange purple mist that prevented Blake from seeing past his nose, in addition to the fact that when he breathed it seemed to cause some effects on his body.

"Ahg!" 'What is this? I feel so tired and I can hardly move.' Blake was starting to panic at the same time that above him the peculiar-colored bars reappeared and he saw some strange symbols below them, while of the green color was shrinking in slow intervals of time, plus the voice of the system was ringing in his head.

[You suffer from poisoning.]

[You suffer from paralysis.]

[You suffer from sealing.]

Blake was worrying, he understood that those messages were bad for him and that he had to do something fast or he would not know what would happen to him. He tried to use teleport, but it didn't work, he wanted to run away, but it was difficult for him to move, besides he saw how his health points were going down little by little. He was getting desperate, but at the last second, he heard Marjorie's voice.

"Sigh... This girl... Sonic wind!" Blake understood that this was a spell and just when Marjorie finished saying it, a green light came out of her and a gust of wind cleared all the fog from the place until it disappeared little by little. Once she was able to breathe the clean air again, she approached Blake and cast a series of spells that made him feel better. He stopped feeling bad, saw that the symbols disappeared and the green bar was filled again, and the system voice was playing at this moment.

[Poison resist skill, increased.]

[Paralyze resist skill, increased.]

[Seal resist skill, increased.]

'I don't think that makes me happy right now.'

"Marian!"

"Eh?! what happened to the mist?! it was just what I needed for my new medicine!"

"How many times have I told you not to add anything strange to the cauldron?!"

"But grandma, you always make the same concoction, you need to experiment and explore all the possibilities that exist!"

"You can do it as long as there is no living being for miles around... That mist was simply toxic, you cannot use it to make medicine."

"You have always said that the cure is born from poisons, if I manage to turn it into a medicine, that will prove that I am an incredible witch and doctor!"

"You really don't understand... At least apologize to the tree boy, thanks to your experiments he almost ended up half dead."

"Don't worry, as long as he doesn't die completely, I can make him like new with my meds, hahaha!" Blake only regretted getting in there and he didn't know what to say from the way they talked about how he was about to die like it was nothing important.

"Marian!"

"Okay... I'm sorry I poisoned you and stuff..." 'Still, I could heal you in a second...' "Next time you come to see me, it will be free!"

'Who in their right mind would accept that?' But Blake wasn't going to say that for obvious reasons. "Thank you, I'll keep that in mind..."

"Well, I still have a lot of work to do, see you, Ah... Blake, yes, Blake."

"See you." And once again, Marian disappeared from his sight as she entered the back of the store with many strange ingredients in her hands. "I guess I should go my way."

"You're leaving, right, boy?"

"Yes. I'm fulfilling a request right now and it's getting a bit late."

"I see, I may post a request later, I hope you can help me if you have time."

"Of course, it will be a pleasure!"

"Hehe, I see that you are full of energy, it's good to be young... I want to apologize again for Marian, I hope you don't hold a grudge..."

"No, of course not, it's just something, how can I say it?"

"Explosive?"

"Haha, you could say... But I know she's not a bad person, she just seems to be passionate about what she does, although maybe she gets too excited. I wish I could be his friend or at least get a little closer to her."

"Sigh... That's how it's always been... Well, I hope you can actually become her friend, many times I worry about her, and I don't have the energy of years ago, I would feel calmer if someone can keep an eye on her from time to time."

"Don't worry, you can count on me."

"Hehehe, I appreciate it. Here, you can take this as a welcome gift to the town." Then the giggling old woman reached into her pocket and handed her something that Blake had seen before.

[Do you want to learn the "Cure" spell?]

Actually, Blake was thrilled to see the scroll that had just been handed to him. He didn't know why, but he felt that magic was something surprising, since after losing his memory of him, he didn't remember anything about it. He had broken the seal of the parchment and again received the notification from the system asking if he wanted to learn the spell, he nodded, and again some strange symbols entered his head, but they instantly became clear to him.

'This is actually practically cheating... But I like it... Let's see what this spell is about.'

"I see that you are enthusiastic about magic, if you're lucky it won't take many days to..." But before she finished speaking, her mouth fell open because of what she was seeing. Blake had raised his hand and a pale green light was forming in it, radiating great warmth. Basically from the information that entered his head, he could understand that the spell was one of the life element and that its function was to recover a part of health points in exchange for runic energy, which he thought was very useful, so he tried to use it at the time without paying attention to what he was going to unleash.

"Well, it seems I can conjure it up perfectly." But something made in that instant, that his happy moment turns into one of panic.

"B-Boy, y-you, h-how is it possible?!"

"Oh, I...!"

"It is simply impossible, it must be a mistake!"

'W-What did I do now?' Then Marjorie pushed Blake against the wall and looked him straight in the eye as if she was analyzing every stretch of his body as he wondered how she could have so much strength.

"Boy, marry my granddaughter!"

"What!?"

"Your talent is simply unheard of, something that has never been seen, not even a prodigy who is born every ten thousand years would have the right to clean your shoes! If you marry Marian, I am sure that your children will change the world!" Blake had long been lost, suddenly the smiling old woman had him trapped and gave her consent to marry her granddaughter, he did not know what to think or say. Blake knew that he should not have used the spell in that place, but it was too late, his emotion had betrayed him and now he had gotten into another problem.

"B-But I...!"

"What?! Do you think she's not good enough for you?!"

"No, I don't mean that, she is cute and she seems very interesting to me, but...!"

"But what?!"

"I-I, I'm sorry!" And not knowing where that force came from, Blake managed to break out of Marjorie's grasp and shot out the door like a flash of yellow hurtling away from the scene. She could only see helplessly as he disappeared and she did not think to follow him, the whole situation had left her exhausted and she was sure that sooner or later she would see him again.

"Grandma, what were those screams?"

"Oh, it was nothing, maybe you imagined it."

"Mmmm... Have I gotten sick? I'll need a guinea pig." At that moment, a girl with pigtails and a huge pile of rice in front of her, couldn't help sneezing.

"By the way, Marian, what do you think of that blond boy?"

"Blake?"

"Hehehe, so you remember his name, that's good."

"Well... I don't know, he seems like a good boy and I think it will be perfect to test my meds on him, haha."

'Sigh… I have a lot of work to do.' And in the distance from the shop, you could see a tired Blake who for some strange reason shuddered at that moment, while he reminded himself to be careful with the people of this town.

[Progress... Saved.]
