As the goblins slowly spawned in the navigation app my mom was using reported several hazards along the road. I could tell my mother was seeing these goblins as well meaning she had to believe me now. Now with traffic stopped I hopped out of the car, equipped my staff from my inventory, and cast Lightning bolt on the nearest goblin.
NYAAAAAAH!
It let a dying scream as it slowly turned into glowing orbs and some floating coins which quickly all entered my body.
[You have entered combat with Lvl. 1 goblin
0/4 HP REMAINING]
I frowned when I saw this message as it meant That Mana bullet was perfectly fine, and I would probably get enough coins to buy my next spell anyway.
[Tutorial: Welcome to your first combat. On your right you can see three bars the green one is you HP, the red one is you Stamina, and the blue one is your MP. Each bar has a number to show you exactly how much you have left.]
As soon as those messages appeared I noticed the three bars it apears I have 50 HP, 30 SP and 250 MP. Meaning my stats are multiplied by ten when calculating how much of a given point I have. I then checked my MP and saw it was at 241/250. Meaning the effect on my staff was real and 10% of the casting cost was removed making Lightning bolt only cost 9 MP to cast rather then 10.
"Grrah! Grrah!"
Another goblin heard their buddy's death scream and started charging me with his club at the ready, and he was pissed. I simply cast Lightning bolt again and one shot him. Once all the orbs and gold entered my body I saw a new message
[You have obtained dropped loot:
Goblin club
Stats: +1 attack damage
Effects: none]
Not the best item in the world especially for me. But I could probably sell it for some coins.
Some time passed and after killing around 27 or so goblins I was out of mana. And there were still a few left. The other monster hunters were doing well. I could clearly see the use of very basic attacks from each class even mini parties of a guards man and fighter who presumably were sharing loot. There were even supporters in some of the larger groups that seem to be able to re energize their party members. But I had no such group near me it would take to long to get over there I would be surrounded by goblins for sure. So I had one option left. Beat them to death.
A goblin quickly came charging at me and I took a swing with my staff. I noticed that I got a notification and felt that same feeling like when I learned Lightning bolt, but I didn't have time to read it the goblin looked slightly dazed so I stomped on it. It quickly died as I watched its HP bar drop to 0 after 3 stomps. However my last stomp also felt automatic like it happened with even less mental effort. I then heard another ding. This time I could read my notifications.
[An unforeseen occasion has caused desperate circumstances and thus desperate measures.
Your natural instincts have generated the skill "Knock over"
Effect: take a swing using any blunt weapon at an opponent with a chance to knock them over. Chance increases with strength stat]
[An unforeseen occasion has caused desperate circumstances and thus desperate measures.
Your natural instincts have generated the skill "Stomp out"
Effect: stomp on an enemy to does 1.5x your strength stat in damage.]
"Oh cool" I stated while hearing the cautious pitter patter of a goblin who is rightfully scared. I quickly saw him through the car windows on the other side and sprinted around the car to chase him down. And using my longer stride distance I was able to catch up before my stamina reached half way down. I quickly pulverized the goblin to get a new message
[You have leveled up.
You now have 5 new stat points to use.]
"Use two stat points on Agility, use one stat point on Stamina, and use one stat point on Mana." As soon as I said that I could feel my joints get looser and my ability to run for longer definitely felt a bit improved. I even saw that I managed to get ten free mana from raising it one point along with a few more due to it naturally filling back up. I now had 13/260 MP.
I then brutalized some more goblins before checking my MP 45/260. Coincidentally there were five more goblins nearby so I lightning bolted the rest.
[Tutorial: You have completed your first quest. You now have access to the monster hunter discussion board where you can coordinate with your fellow monster hunters about anything be it a boss raid to getting others to make you an item for the right price. Do not worry the hunter board is automatically translated to your preferred language. There is even an item and gold transport system allowing for long range deals to be made in an instant.]
I quickly went and checked out the hunter board while getting back into the car as Looking at my stuff can wait the opening moments of a messaging board starting with 100,000 people will never happen again especially for super humans alone. I noticed it was empty and had to send the first message.
[Anonymous#153: First.
Anonymous #439: damn beat me by a split second]
"Hahahahahahahah. I DID IT." What's so funny Daniel?" Questioned my mom. "So after finishing my first quest I was given access to the monster hunter messaging board and I managed to say the first word on there ever. "First"." "Okay that is kinda funny" anyway whats your name on there I hope it's not your real name." "No it's Anonymous#153. I wish I could change it though." Just then a new message popped up.
[If you wish to change your name simply state out loud "I wish to change my hunter name to (Insert your hunter name)]
I was exited to get a recognizable name but I quickly realized I had no Idea what I should be called by the other 99,999 monster hunters. "Hey mom, what should I put as hunter name? It says I can change it." "Hmm, I don't know, what about goblin stomper? You did brutally stomp out those goblins over and over again only to zap them after a bit of stomping." "Yeah good Idea. I wish to change my hunter name to 'Goblin Stomper'."
[Change confirmed. You can change your name at any time after 30 days. All previous messages from you will be updated.]
Meanwhile the chat room was going off as some where laughing at my message while others were astonished at what just happened. Some mentioned the speech to text function as well as a text to speech function. All sorts of things were happening it was even discovered you could make more rooms and invite others to them to talk in a much less chaotic place. I then checked my inventory. I had three goblin clubs two goblin teeth and five goblin meet. None of which seemed useful so I sold it all for a grand total of 350 coins. When added to my quest I now have 1000 gold. I then checked out the shop and saw a really cool looking skill Triple Cast.
[Double Cast:
Effects: makes two undefined spells that will copy your next spell and it's attribute(s) casting it three times instead of once without the cost of casting your next spell three times as well as persisting until used. (Stackable)
Mana Cost: 10
Cool down: 0.1 seconds
Cost: 900 G]
I then quickly bought it and went back to chatting with the other hunters on the chat board.
