Chapter 1 - The Plan

He is living a lie…Trying so hard to survive. Talking about the talk of fantasy. To become what he's not…Walking through the motions of wasted time…Look at the mask he wore…Can you pick out who is real?

The belief he once had…Righteousness is lost in the shuffle. Warmth and tenderness now all but a dream. Sleep he wishes he had…Maybe then he would dream. Of what is now and not what was before….

To be able to wake in the morning. To open his eyes, to peer in disbelief…Into the cracked mirror. To see the two faces of himself…

*YAWNS*

"Well, that's all for tonight young one. You have to wake up early for tomorrow is another bright new day"

"But Father, you didn't even finish the story this time." answered grumpily by a young boy who was not satisfied with the story he was given him.

"Sorry Young one, your father has other business to attend to tonight." answered the Father, "How about this, tomorrow, once you come home and tell me about your adventures, we could go to the capital to buy you that new book you have always wanted?"

"promise?" as the boy happily smiled at his father as if it was all he wanted for his life.

"Promise.." The father answered.

as the father tucked in his son to finally go to sleep, he kissed his forehead and bid goodnight. as he closed the door to his son's room and left for his study room. As he entered and opened the lights revealing his study an owl entered through his window and perched on his table as he sat down and asked, " Is everything in order? We must not make a mistake, not again." As the father's look started to look grim.

As the owl transformed into what looks to be a woman with a lavish and beautiful coat made up of feathers, " He'll be fine, have you made sure his documents are already fool-proof? We don't want to make them wary of him being alive and all." says the woman as she fixes her hair and sat on the sofa just across the study table making herself comfortable.

" Are you sure with this plan? I mean sealing the memory of your one and only son?" asked the woman as she stared at the man's eyes questioning his decision.

"Yes, you have to. For his safety, you know what the council did to the variants, especially if he is the only son of one of the strongest mage in our region." the man replied in a solemn tone.

"Oh almighty Edvoid, kindly excuse my mouth for telling the truth." the woman replied sarcastically to the reasoning the man named Edvoid gave him.

Edvoid Chrystalis, One of the founders of the council of atheneum and one of the strongest mage in their region to defend it from the invading demi-gods who entered their planet to cause havoc and rule its residents. He was also a member of the legendary party of heroes who defended the planet in the said calamity of the demi-gods.

" Olivia, as one of the better choices only you can seal his memory and powers. Make sure he lives a happy and peaceful life, a life away from magic so no pain will reach him, this is my final decision." Edvoid replies.

" I don't care, he's your son, he deserves to know the truth about... himself and his mom." Olivia replies, " I know you are the decision-maker but you should think about this more for the sake of your son and family."

As Olivia stares at Edvoid one last time, as he gave up," Fine, I'll think about it. Again, why can't I win against you?" as he smiled at Olivia.

"You serious? Of course, I win all the time, I got it from our mom, being all thoughtful and stuff and you take after dad being worried of everything." as Olivia giggled at the thought of it.

being a variant, also meant being an existence that can threaten the peace in their region, because when the demi-gods invaded them some people chose to side with the invaders and were granted a secondary element that doesn't compliment their primary power, but makes them powerful overall, this was when the war was at its peak. Because of these so-called variants, the heroes took more time saving the residents of the region and exterminating the said variants.

Since they defeated these variants, they made a law stating that whoever is housing these variants are to be executed to remove the chance another war was to erupt. Being in a high position, Edvoid couldn't find an escape route making his son survive through the prosecution. He found out his son was a variant when he was studying magic in his study, the element of their family was of the rock type and Edvoid's element was that of crystalization. His son also acquired this trait and started practicing it to be just like his father but during his practice, he was fascinated by the new invention his dad made, it was a crystal building, it looked very fragile but his son was tempted to touch it breaking it in the process.

As Edvoid saw his masterpiece broken, of course, he started shouting at his son making him cry, and that's when his son threw a tantrum and suddenly released an aura making things go back to what they were before... His second element was time. As an overprotective father, he quickly apologized to his son who suddenly fainted due to the sudden burst of mana he released. From that day on He made a plan to save his only son from the council.

That is where Olivia comes in, Olivia is Edvoid's older sister who succeeded in the medical area, using her powers she had made a spell of sealing a memory or their power that was then widely used at the police department to detain criminals who misuse their powers or psychiatrist who has a patient with PTSD.

This was the only option Edvoid has to make sure his son gets away unscathed so his son can lived peacefully and happier away from the real world of magic.
