I turned around as Tony let me go, but I already knew who I would find.
Tony laughed, then backed away and sat on one of the stones around the area.
"I didn't think it would be that easy to kill you."
"I didn't think it would be that easy to fool you."
Tony smiled. I just stood there,watching Tony, unable to turn. I was a culprit too. Come to think of it, at some point, I was Tony's accomplice too.
I heard the footsteps come from behind me, and I closed my eyes, waiting. Maybe he would hug me. Maybe he would turn me around and tell me to look at him. Tell me to see that he'd lived for me. And that he was finally here for me. Tell me that my love worked or my lust. Or whatever I felt.
I closed my eyes tighter as the footsteps progressed and came closer, until I heard them right behind me. It didn't stop however, just passed by me.
