Jia winced and trying to look away but he stopped her by sitting up and putting a hand behind her neck to stop her.
"Please answer me," Tristan pleaded.
"I was…honestly surprised by what you did and didn`t have time to react...," Jia admitted before she pulled away from his hand.
Tristan frowned at her, "I thought that the electrocution was something you couldn`t control?"
"It isn`t. I can`t control it," Jia replied with a nod before running a hand over her mouth," I can`t control when it was flares up. If you can recall, I electrocuted you slightly on the night of the Mixer. My magic has a mind of its own sometimes."
"Is that normal? Can magic do that?" Tristan questioned her. What little he knew about magic was told to him by Juliet but this was actually a new fact to him.
"Yes, it can. It`s something we learn in Soul Magic Class." Jia confirmed.
Tristan studied her face before nodding in agreement, "Fine, I guess that makes sense."
"Now you answer me, why did you do that in the first place?"
Tristan arched a brow at her, "You mean why did I kiss you?"
Jia resisted the urge to roll her eyes. He knew what she meant so why did he insist on saying it like that? "Yes. If you`re playing a game, I`m telling you right now, it will not end well for you emotionally."
The Knight snorted at the Sorceress and ran a hand through his hair, "That`s a first, normally a girl would start threatening bodily harm to me."
Jia pinched the bridge of her nose in agitation, "Well, I won`t. For two reasons. Reason number one, you are Roy`s friend and I will not put him in a position to pull us apart. "
"And reason two?"
Jia smirked at him, "Physical wounds can heal but emotional ones, those are hard. If for some reason, you hurt me and try to come back for me. I will not entertain you. I will talk to you but not the same way again. I will be friends with you but I`ll keep my distance. I`ll make you hurt. So you`ll feel what I felt."
"That`s a lot to take in," Tristan said, wide-eyed as she shuffled uncomfortably on the bed.
The lightning sorceress shrugged innocently, "Just forewarning you. Now answer my question. "
"And here I was thinking the subject could be changed." Tristan mumbled to himself before he noticed how Jia had folded her arms and was glaring at him. He sighed and answered, "I kissed you because I wanted to."
Jia`s arms fell to the bed and she looked taken back for a second. She quickly recovered and shook her head at him, "Maybe you should think twice before kissing a girl. It can mess with her brain."
"Wait, "Tristan said as he studied the white haired girl, who cheeks started to turn pink, "Did it bother you or something?"
Jia pursed her lips and refused to look at him, "I couldn`t concentrate in class for a while."
Tristan chuckled and Jia blindly reached out to swat his shoulder indignantly," It`s not funny! I wasn`t fully present in class so I ended up over doing things."
"Should I say I`m sorry? Because I`m not." Tristan admitted with a smirk. He tried to get the girl to look at him but she turned away from him.
"Jerk," Jia hissed as she moved to lie down and covered herself with her blankets. Tristan laughed softly to himself before he moved to settle down next to her. He was tempted to pull her against him and have her sleep in his arms but she wasn`t ready for that. They both laid in quiet silence before Jia whispered his name. He hummed in reply.
"Why do people kiss each other?" Jia asked.
Tristan watched her back as she made no move to face him, "Because they like each other."
"But why do you like me? "She asked again.
"I don`t know, "Tristan lied. He knew why he liked her but some part of him just wanted to convince himself that it was just lust and attraction, "I guess I`m still trying to figure it out myself.
"When you do," Jia hesitated," Will you tell me?"
"You`ll be the first," Tristan promised before pulling up the sheets up to his chest, "Good night Jia."
"Night," she whispered back. That night, she dreamed of dragons, werewolves and witches. She saw a girl with short curly brown hair fight alongside a boy with who looked similar to Tristan in a forest. But it wasn`t Tristan because this boy looked slightly taller than him and had a scar on his left cheek. They both had dragons who were lying on the ground near them. A purple and silver scaled one and a black scaled one. The purple one looked injured and the black one was defending her from black bats who seem to be attacking them.
The scene changed and Jia found herself inside a dorm room with two beds. She was standing next to a girl with indigo glowing eyes who was smiling down at the window. Down below, could see huge wolves running out into a forest. She then turned to see a tall man enter the girl`s room with a huge leather book in hand. He handed it to her and she received it with a smile. The man was watching her with pure adoration as he raised his hand to her cheek. The girl nuzzled against his palm before the man reached forward and kissed her. Jia woke up with a start before squinting.
She was on her side facing the window and the morning lights came flooding into the room. She squinted and turned around before yawning. In the place where Tristan had once slept, his sheets were folded neatly.
She sat up and rubbed her eyes before glancing around the room.
"Gone with no note," Jia muttered to herself. The sound of her phone ringing pulled her away from thinking about the raven-haired Knight as she crawled over to her night stand and answered her phone.
An image of her Papa came up," Hey, bolt. Did you just wake up?"
"Yeah," she confirmed as stood from her bed and stretched.
"Okay, you have twenty minutes to get ready," Marcellus said with a grin, "I`ll be there to pick you up soon and then we`re going gift shopping."
Jia whooped with joy as she nodded and hung up the phone before dashing to the bathroom.
For now, Tristan would be forgotten.
When her papa finally arrived, Jia was standing outside the school gates with a duffle bag and a bag pack. Her papa greeted her with a hug before they boarded the ship and it ascended into the sky.
Shopping had taken the father and daughter almost all of the hours of the day. They had to go shopping in three different kingdoms for presents for the Uncles, the Aunts, the children and Jia`s grandparents. After that, the Elites Christmas Ball had to be dealt with. Jia had to confirm with her father, the catering, the music, fireworks, lights, seating arrangements, the program itself. By the time, they arrived at home, both of them were exhausted so they didn`t stay for Christmas Eve dinner with her Uncles and Aunts. Jia settle into her room before she took out her scrape book and began to write out the details of her mother`s dream and her dream from last night. She soon fell asleep at her desk but was then lifted up into someone`s arms.
She opened her eyes to see her Uncle Dalton carrying her with her aunt Iris smiling at her over his shoulder.
"Whzzit?" she mumbled sleepily.
"Nothing, Jia darling," Dalton said as he put her down into her bed before her aunt tucked her in, "You and your father are just the same. Falling asleep at the desk again."
"Leave her alone Dalton," Jia heard her aunt Iris scolded her husband before kissing her cheek. Jia smiled as she drifted to sleep.
Honestly, she felt like she was asleep for only one hour or so before she felt her bed move. She opened her eyes to see the Triplets and uncle Dalton`s twin girls Jacqueline and Ruby jumping on her bed yelling that it was present time.
She groaned and tried to cover up when she felt something climb under her sheets. Opening one eye, she saw Ruby giggle before reaching forward to poke her cheeks.
"Ruby, "she groaned before she removed her covers and the other children giggle.
"Come on cousin!" Timothy yelled before all her cousins jumped down from her bed and ran to the door.
"Present time!" Yelena shrieked as the door opened and Jia groaned as she saw Roy standing at the door with a plate of sugar cookies. No wonder her younger cousins were hyper active; they had been given sugar.
"Jia, everyone`s downstairs, "Roy told her. He moved to the side and let the little ones run out with Ruby being the last one out. He made his way over to his cousin`s bed and chuckled at her blank expression," It`s Christmas Morning."
"I`m well aware. The sugar-rushed children just told me, "Jia replied as she threw away her sheets and stomped to her bathroom, "Now I know why they were jumping on my bed."
"Sugar cookies and the promise of presents? Why wouldn`t they want to wake up everyone in the Castle?" Roy asked.
Jia did a short morning clean-up routine before coming out and putting on her purple Christmas themed sweater. She then took one of the cookies and chewed on them thoughtfully, "We really need to stop giving them these."
Roy snickered and held out his hand for Jia to take so he should escort her down, "As I recall, you went through a similar phase as well. Waking me up at the crack of dawn on Christmas Morning."
Jia took his arm and they left her room. Jia finished the cookie before she smiled up at her cousin, "Thank the Goddess I grew up and discovered sleep."
Roy burst out laughing.
