Suzaku was eating a honey bun and watching one of his favorite anime when he heard that he had gotten mail. He went to get it and it was a pink letter that was addressed to him. He opened it and it read: "Hello, you may not know me well, but I think you're very cute. I'd like to talk to you..if you'd like. I don't want to seem like a weird stalker or something so I wanted to meet you at the park. See you there. -Eli". Suzaku was confused since he wanted to continue looking for more of these corrupt Mazoku, but he remembered that he's just a kid, and he should let his dad handle a few things since he's actually trained, so he went out while his brother was with Kamai for the day in Japan. He ran to the park, and looked around to see who could've sent the letter. He looked at the letter again, and saw there was writing on the back that said "I'm the elephant boy in the green jacket and black shoes.", and he found him immediately. He was about Suzaku's height and had grey hair, regular human hands, and an elephant like body. Suzaku went over to him, but something seemed off about him, like he was attempting to hide something or he was under some sort of stress. "Hey, you're Eli right? Thanks for the note, but you could've just came to my house, I can invite friends over." he said. Eli looked like he was overthinking on what to say first, but looked like he was going to faint from dehydration. Suzaku then made a water bubble to splash in his face and snap him out of his daze, and Eli wiped his face with his nose. "Uh..sorry. Sometimes I overthink everything and I end up looking like a dehydrated fish. Also sorry about that random letter..it was stupid." he said, looking dejected, but Suzaku patted him on the back letting him know it was okay, and that they should hang out for the day.
The two walked around the town all afternoon, talking about different anime attacks were better or worse power wise. It felt like a normal day for a while, and they even gotten a bento box from a Japanese shop, and some honey crisp apples. Eli was enjoying the time with Suzaku and tried to hold his pinky finger with his own, and succeeded, much to Suzaku's surprise. They then saw that there was a fireworks show going on and went to go look, but Eli covered his ears since they were sensitive. "So, quick question." Suzaku asked using telepathy since Eli's ears were covered. "You know Lithomancy and stuff right? Can you teach me too? I've been getting some bad grades cause I don't exactly get it all the way, so I need a tutor." he asked. Eli's face went bright red, and nodded at the idea. They both enjoyed the fireworks, and then got dinner food. The night seemed to be going really well, until they noticed some strange people seemingly fighting one kid who had a witch hat, black pants with white shoes, a crop jacket, long purple hair, and elf ears with big earrings. He seemed to be outnumbered 10 to one, but he summons a large scythe and spins it around before he attacks. Suzaku saw that he had a Meta ability, with the tattoo being on the bridge of his nose. He fought back pretty well, using gems as a spell casting tool and fending all the men off before getting a sneak attack in the back and lost balance long enough to be restrained. Suzaku shot a flame spell, catching everyone's attention. Eli looked for someplace to hide since he wasn't interested in fighting, but the men targeted him too. Suzaku raised a barrier that wouldn't allow them to get close without freezing in the space around Suzaku. However there was one issue: Suzaku never uncovered what his Meta does, so he's working with borrowed energy. He wasn't good at regular magic, and had a lot of fears of harming himself, so he wasn't able to use too much magic, or depend on his Yokai as he was scared of it. The men waited for his magic to run out, and Suzaku was thinking hard on how to fix the situation. His Yokai called out in his head. "Hey, stop holding back. Just let me handle them, I'll beat them all down. Hurry up, just do it!" it yelled, but Suzaku drowned it out as all he could think of was to call out for his dad to help him, or to run away with the boy and Eli. Tears flooded his eyes as he could only think to run from there, and then Eli hugged him from behind. "I...I understand you're scared of all this..I'm scared too. But if we don't try to use our powers then we're all dead. When the light flashes, grab the kid and let's run." he said as he threw a light blue gem in the air and clapped his hands together, then made the sword mudra. "Now, Flash and Burst!" he yelled as the gem started to shine like a powerful flash bang. Suzaku grabbed the boy and all three of them ran into the crowd, the men looked around after the gem's light faded and the shattered pieces turned into butterflies and flew off. All three hid in the park, looking to see if they were being followed, then the boy looked at both of them. "Hey man, what was with the piss poor spell casting? You're a Meta Child right, so what was that? And what's with the crying, that's just an embarrassment." he ridiculed rudely, making Eli push him. "Cut it out, he saved you. You didn't exactly handle yourself well, just throwing gems around as projectiles. You could've set up some shields or something but you didn't. Having a meta power doesn't make you Merlin." he said. The boy just had the same upset look on his face.
Suzaku walked back to his house without saying a word, and sat at his front door with a bag of candy. Eli sat next to him trying to hold his hand, but he didn't want to overstep his boundaries. He then showed a picture of a wizard on his phone, and then showed him a picture of him dressed up as that wizard. "I never showed anyone this. I just want you to know, you're not a coward for crying. I was about to cry too..and almost wet myself. But, I hope that we can learn together and be a team. I gotta head home. Don't tell anyone I showed you that picture at school too. See you next month." Eli said as he started running to his house. Suzaku hid his face in his shirt silently crying to himself, unable to believe Eli's words about him not being a coward. Harris walked up to him and rubbed his head, already read his mind about the events that happened, and then hugged him. "It's fine son. You'll understand your powers soon, and I'll help you too. Just believe in yourself and other people too. Come on, I'll make burgers tonight." he said, with Suzaku following him with a small smile on his face, and held one of Eli's gems that he left behind.
