Chapter 41 - Overpowered

With just a mere blink, everyone in the room had missed the assassin's move.

Now a blade was being pressed against Mr Walton's neck.

Mr Walton reacted the quickest to the situation and brought out his sword from his belt, before he could swing it, the person backed off.

Panicking, Luar looked at Lithia's unconscious vulnerable body. They were all here for her. Their main objective was to kill her.

They could've just killed her in an instant considering the speed they had just flaunted. They were playing around.

Quickly, Kai took his dagger from his belt and lowered himself with his body weight pressed forward. He stood guard in front of Lithia's bed with Mr Walton towering over him.

Claude and Luar watched as the two groups stared each other down like a pack of wolves attempting to intimidate their opponent.

"I expected a lot more. You're saying this is all your country could afford to protect one of your greatest mages?" The assassin insulted as he smirked slyly.

Mr Walton dashed in front with his blade horizontally against the door to prevent entry. Sneakily, he created a magic border around Lithia and the range of the whole house.

Before he could finish, the assassin managed to slash his face.

Mr Walton stepped back and pointed the blade front, he then created lightning from his fists and pummeled it into the ground. It sent a shock straight to them.

But they avoided it easily with their eyes closed. They backed off to the door.

Seeing this, Kai glanced at Claude and with a quick gesture, he pointed at Lithia.

They had to cooperate or else everything that Mr Walton had in plan would go down the drain.

Claude went beside Lithia and stood there defensively, he wasn't sure what he could do. He was terrified. But he wasn't going to let his grandma die like this. He reinforced the shield around her with his magic.

Making sure that everything was in place, Kai opened the window and slid through it. He made a round around the house and reached the front door.

With a simple kick, he knocked down the door where the intruders seemed to be standing in front of.

Once he did, Kai was met with blood splattering in front of his face. He could feel a wound opening on his forehead. He stepped back and attempted to recover but they didn't give him a chance.

They were zooming around like flies he couldn't catch ahold of. Kai could barely see their movements. All that was left of them were after images.

Thankfully, Mr Walton was behind and had taken the attention of 2 assassins. He wasn't winning in the least. He was being pushed back. The only thing he could do was position his blade in a way that could protect his vitals.

The two assassins were merciless and extremely quick like the wind. But they still seemed insincere about their attacks. As if playing around with a punching bag.

Explosions occurred continuously. Lightning struck the ground and set the grass on fire. The ground shook and grew in size. In a few mere seconds, the assassins had made a mess of Lithia's yard.

Luckily the border Mr Walton had cast took form. He didn't want to hurt others who weren't involved in this affair. But he shouldn't be worrying about others considering how badly he was losing.

Kai wasn't better off either. He couldn't cast any magic quick enough considering the rate the opponent was attacking him. He could feel each part of his body burning.

He gave up on casting magic and placed his daggers where he could see an attack coming from. He was 3 steps too slow to be a match for the opponent.

He winced every time he felt his skin being torn apart. He ignored it and concentrated. He was being pushed back and forced to run to create a distance.

He closed his eyes and lit his other senses on fire. He could feel the hair on his hands standing up everytime the cold blade came closer.

He swung on reflex and was surprised that he could hear a sound being resounded. Kai opened his eyes and thrusted the dagger but missed, he didn't falter and turned around and blocked another attack.

He was getting the hang of it. The opponent was a repetitive person. But he felt like that wasn't all they could do. They were just messing around.

He felt a blade being stabbed into the right side of his abdomen, he winced and looked around carefully. He chanted something and the tip of his dagger lit on fire.

"What do you think you're doing? You can't even hit me with that." The assassin claimed. He was getting quite bored. He swung his sword around in his hands as he watched the boy struggle.

Kai looked up and saw his opponent letting down his guard. He bit his lips and breathed out heavily as the blood from his wounds escaped. He went in and swung his arm back and stabbed, he missed and could feel another wound on his body appearing.

He ignored it and turned around and instead of blocking the attack, he struck. He plunged the blade deep into the arm of the opponent and let the fire seep into their skin. While his own flesh was punctured too.

"Little bastard." The opponent commented, retreating back his hand as he carefully analysed his opponent again. They were definitely exhausted. But the kid was weird, he didn't seem to be giving up anytime soon.

"Hah." Kai breathed out. The right side of his abdomen was burning. He could feel his body getting slower with each hit he took.

"That's it. The fun is over." The opponent said and dashed away into the direction of the house before he was blocked by a magic border.

"Whose..?" Kai whispered to himself. He didn't waste any time and put out his hand and summoned a bridge of ice spikes that crawled behind the opponent at a spectacularly fast pace.

The opponent looked behind and clicked his tongue. With just a few milliseconds the ice was demolished. It exploded into fragments in the air while flames melted them into dust.

"I'll kill you." The assassin whispered with bloodshot eyes. His killing intent he released was insane. He gripped his sword tighter.

A strong gust of wind with a wind speed as strong as a typhoon was created. A large storm was brewing right behind Kai's back. Once he felt a light breeze behind him, he looked back too late.

Kai was pushed back at an absurd pace, he broke through the border and crashed into the house. The wood and stones broke the moment he met with it. His whole body felt like it was being grinded to shreds. His head had hit the window and the pane bursted.

The assassin stood in front of him, sword up and ready to plunge down into his victim.
