After Lithia had finished setting up the table, she called Luar and Kai into the room.
Once they were, Claude was already at the table and devouring the eggs and toast. He looked up and eyed Kai.
"Eat up. You'll need the energy." Lithia said, giving him a set of utensils.
The meal was eaten in silence with small talk made by Lithia but no response was heard in return.
Kai finished up his meal as fast as he could manage while being watched. He washed his plates and stayed in the guest room.
"Is he staying?" Claude asked, finally talking. He placed down his utensils with a slam.
"Yes. For a while, so be nice to him." Lithia said, wiping the small crumbs on Claude's face.
Claude slapped her hand away and stood up. He had enough. How could they let a random stranger in the house? And let him stay? It was ridiculous.
The short time that person had stayed, his grandma and Luar's attention had strayed far away from him. Just as he thought, he can't get along with that kid.
He went out to the garden and started plucking the grass to relieve his anger.
Lithia entered Kai's room then checked the child's wounds.
Lithia hovered her hand above Kai's chest. "I'm going to heal your wounds, so stay still okay?"
Kai inched himself closer to the bed. He didn't think that the great sage would have healing powers on top of her offensive magic.
Healing powers were not part of any element and only manifested in some human beings. It wasn't rare but wasn't common either.
In a moment, Kai could feel the pain in his leg and face ease. He felt relieved of all his pain.
Even the healer at the ship wasn't this talented though they specialised in it.
Lithia was on a whole different level.
"You okay?" Lithia asked, retreating her hands as she took out a book she had brought into the room.
"Sleep for a while and I'll extract the mana from you. It'll be painful." Lithia said.
Kai closed his eyes and attempted to sleep. His eyelids felt heavy for the past few days but they never managed to stay shut for a long time.
The uneasiness he felt when he closed his eyes. Images keep filling up the black curtain. It flickered in his mind as if mocking him.
In an unsuccessful attempt, Kai opened his eyes and found Lithia flipping through pages of a book with intense concentration.
"Do you..have any sleeping pills on you?" Kai asked, he had to resort to another method.
He had to sleep, not because of the pain. If he didn't, his whole body would shut down. And it'll be more troublesome then.
Lithia left her book opened and placed it on the desk. "I do. Give me a moment." She stood up and went to the shelf and looked through baskets and small boxes.
She gave him a new box of pills and a glass of water. "Take it in moderation. I'll go check up on Claude."
Lithia did as she had said and left.
Sighing, Kai took out 4 tablets and chugged it down with some water. If he had taken 1 it wouldn't have worked.
Every Whitlock was trained to to be unaffected by any sort of drugs and poison. The dosage of immunity will increase as their age increases.
He laid there on his bed and stared at the ceiling. He waited till the activity in his head calmed down. And after an hour or so, his eyes closed and his body relaxed.
Lithia came back in the afternoon with an exhausted look on her face. She looked at Kai sleeping like a corpse and figured it would be best to start now.
She laid her vials of mana beside her and locked the door. She placed her hand on the boy's wrist and closed her eyes.
She could feel every blood vessel pumping in the boy's body. Oxygen circulating around. And the heart beating loudly.
The unwelcomed mana flows and mixes with the boy's blood like a leeching parasite. It blocked and consumed the boy's own mana around the core as soon as any was created.
Thus, Kai was unable to use any magic as long as Bellaire's mana resided in his body.
Lithia with her own mana, she carefully moved the Bellaire mana around and gathered it. It must've hurt as she saw Kai's hand twitching.
Once all the Bellaire's mana was gathered, she mixed it with hers and as quick as she could control her mana, she forced it out of the boy's body through his mouth.
Suddenly, Kai woke up with a jolt and coughed up a pool of blood. It almost felt as if he had coughed up all his guts and organs instead.
His body was burning up as he felt everything became vividly clear. His eyes seemed to be pumping to the beat of his heart. He could hear everything, from the blood dripping to the wind clashing against the window.
"Haah." Kai breathed out. His breath felt as hot as his body did. He couldn't hear a word Lithia was spouting. The sound of his beating heart overwhelmed her voice.
Kai heard a high-pitched ear piercing sound and everything went blank. His head hit the headboard and his body went numb.
"He isn't dead right?" Lithia asked herself, checking his pulse. Thankfully, it was still beating, but just at an irregular pace.
She looked at the blanket that was now dyed dark red in color. She opened the closet and took out a new mattress cover set and a whole new set of clothes that she planned to give Claude for his birthday.
Lithia cleaned up everything on the floor before focusing on the bed. With a smooth flick of her hand, Kai was now floating in mid air. She had used gravitational magic to reduce his gravitational energy just right in order to make him stay afloat. It almost seemed like telekinesis but it wasn't as simple as that.
Changing the mattress covers and the boy's clothes to a clean new set. She placed him back in bed gently with her magic.
She was still very much concerned for Kai as she touched his forehead. It felt like it was on fire. His whole body felt warm too.
Lithia decided to stay in the room until nightfall. To her surprise, the boy's temperature still hadn't reduced one bit. Even after those pills and heals.
She wanted to stay the night too but she knew better. Claude would be mad with her if she did. Hesitantly, she left the room and requested Luar to look after Kai for the night.
If any abnormal signs happen, it must be immediately reported to assure his safety.
