Their silver blades clashed, a loud high pitch sound clanged as their blades continued to go against each other, fighting for dominance.
Kai was pushed back, he retracted his blade and fell back. He swung the blade around between his two hands.
"Not bad. Your strength is admirable even though I didn't fully use all my strength" Mr Walton complimented, dashing in and doing a huge swing from the right.
Kai used the momentum of the swinging sword to stop the incoming blade from bashing into his body. Even though he blocked the sword, he could still feel his hands slightly losing grip on the handle.
"Hold onto it or it might just betray you." Mr Walton pressed onto the boy's blade and released. He watched the boy falter and fall back, taking this chance, he pulled back his sword all the way to his shoulders and swung downwards.
Kai saw it coming and jumped back. As soon as he did, the snow and dirt flew around him. He stared at the newly made dent in the ground in shock. But he couldn't stay still for long as he saw another attack coming.
The ground broke due to the strong force. It cracked and formed a deep dent. It was insanely impressive how much strength Mr. Walton had.
Kai regained his footing and composure and held the sword directly in front of his face; he knew he couldn't launch another attack in time.
Mr. Walton, despite his large size, was absurdly fast. He swung down mercilessly as he saw the boy preparing to take on the impact after he had seen all the destruction.
However, Kai at the last moment dashed forwards and skidded across the icy floor that Mr Walton had opened up. He didn't bother turning around and with two hands, he swung the sword at the legs of his opponent.
Mr Walton watched as the scene unfold, his sword still making contact with the ground where the target was. "Eh?" He murmured, how was the boy so fast?
Kai's sword met with the leg of Mr Walton but the blade didn't sink in. It made a loud clang sound as if hitting a metal pole. The blade was deflected and the sword flew out of his hands. "What..?"
"Hehehe. Fun surprise eh?" Mr Walton said, picking up the sword and throwing it back to Kai. "Continue."
Kai gratefully accepted the sword and stepped back a bit. He wasn't sure what he should do. He lost in terms of strength and technique. And…Mr Walton's right leg.
Mr Walton slowly walked towards Kai, even though he was slow, it was far scarier than him dashing. He stride with the sword by his side and dragged it across the snow.
Honestly, Kai was trying to hide his fear. He didn't know the exact reason why but Mr Walton scared him when he was this serious. The aura he gave off was of a veteran soldier. Or even more superior.
A menacing threat to look out for on the battlefield. But there's no need to look that closely for he is the one leading the squadron.
Gulping, Kai stepped back even more. Like a mouse being cornered. He reached the end. His back hit the warehouse door.
Mr Walton smiled and swung his blade, it struck right through the door as if it was a piece of paper.
If Kai had remained there, who knows what would have been left of him. But now he was on the floor, in a far worse position than earlier. Nowhere left to dodge.
Without hesitation, Mr Walton dragged his sword down the door and he hit a blade. He pressed it down even more.
Soon, Kai's blade gave in and cracked under the pressure. He could feel the fragments and bits crumble onto his face as if it was rain. But Mr Walton didn't stop the advancing of his blade.
Kai lifted his leg and slammed it down on a particular area of Mr Walton's feet. The instep. And he made sure he hit the left foot instead of the right.
Once he did, Mr Walton groaned in pain and hit Kai on the head with the hilt of his sword. "You're too smart for your own good! That hurt like hell." He said, bending down and taking off his shoes, massaging his precious foot.
"Sorry. I was panicking." Kai finally could breathe normally, he looked at the warehouse door and could see a slit that was cut down earlier by Mr Walton in a matter of seconds.
"I was just trying to scare you. I didn't think you'd attack me like this!" Mr Walton complained, still recovering.
"What was that?" Kai asked, pointing at Mr Walton's right leg. He had a feeling what he assumed was right. A..
"Prosthetics" Mr Walton sounded extremely disheartened saying that as he rubbed his right leg and lifted his long pants. Once he did, it revealed a black metal as dark as obsidian being the main component of the prosthetics.
"You should've told me. What if I had damaged it?" Kai stood up, unfazed. A strong person is assured to have at least one weakness or else they'd be immortal till time takes them.
"I doubt so, boy! They were all made by me. Sturdy and hard! And even if you did, I have spares in all sorts of colors!" Mr Walton said all of this with a smile. As if it was some sort of passion, but that act couldn't cover his grief. His eyes were sad contrary to his uplifting voice.
Kai noticed it and looked away. "That's all for today right? My hands and legs are quite sore now." He changed the topic.
Mr Walton's eyes widened as he smiled. "Yes. That's all. Go take a shower and we'll open up the shop."
Nodding, Kai walked awkwardly to the house. Both his legs hurt terribly, even worse than scraping his knees and calves on the sharp rocks.
"And, your swordsmanship is excellent for your age. You're awfully quick-witted. Use that to your advantage." Mr Walton praised, his voice booming across the yard. "And this is a tie! I didn't lose!"
Kai could feel his face and ears heat up, turning red. He quickly rushed inside and took a shower.
