Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: A Devil Approaching

"Aren't you going to take responsibility for this incident, elder brother?"

His worrywart blue bulb sibling looked on at him as if to say with her eyes, 'Apologize, would you?'

Kendrick had no ill will against her because he had never seen her before in the game. Only Alissa and Yuusa.

"Yuusa, it was all my fault. Please forgive me."

Kendrick bowed his head and apologized profusely.

Even if it pains him to do it, he needs to appear as though what he said was sincere.

The killjoy turned to the left as soon as she heard him say it. She wished him farewell and went on to carry her sister on her shoulders to a different room.

"In that case, please pardon us."

As she stated this, her eyes were filled with affection. That's why Kendrick was most wary of her.

'There was no way such a woman exists...'

Definitely not. The otome game in which he had reincarnated was filled with murders, serial killers, horrific moments, and other such things. It made him question why the game is still categorized as an otome rather than a horror game.

As they began to walk away, Alissa caught a glimpse of him at the last second.

>:P

Kendrick stood there watching their figures depart before eventually checking on Jredd.

"...Are you alright? That appears to be painful."

He didn't want to say that, but he felt bad for him. After all, he was the one who essentially got Jredd whacked.

Jredd's pleasant demeanor returns, and he adds in a cheerful tone "No, no, no. This isn't a problem, young master. It was also my responsibility for approaching the young lady while she wasn't feeling well. I humbly ask for your forgiveness."

Even if it was Kendrick's fault, Jredd blamed himself and refused to blame the perpetrator. Perhaps because Kendrick was the son of his master? If not, what else is there?

Kendrick laid his hand on Jredd's shoulder and smiled, "I know what I did was awful, and I know you won't forgive me, but please stick by my side."

Jredd's eyes welled up with tears as he looked at him.

Jredd remembered his young master, who never wept while there were eyes on him, so they wouldn't see his vulnerability. And then there are the moments when he is alone, sobbing as much as he wanted, to the point where black eye bags developed circles in his eyes.

'How much has he suffered from the loneliness of being on his own for so long?'

Then he remembered what Kendrick had said just a few seconds before.

"I know what I did was awful, and I know you won't forgive me, but please stick by my side."

Kendrick stated that he desired to have him at his side. Although others didn't understand what he was saying, Jredd realized what he was attempting to communicate.

Who's the only person who can support his lonely young master right now?

'....Yeah, that is me. Only I can.'

Jredd almost sobbed as he raced with all his might to his young master and sat next to him in an attempt to console Kendrick.

Jredd murmured as he caressed his young master's back, "....I understand. I know it was difficult. Please allow me to bear some of your load."

Kendrick returned to his room and dived into his bed, embracing it.

"Aahhhh… That was a difficult day."

He couldn't believe anything that had transpired.

To begin with, the fact that he had been reborn into the game he was playing only seconds before was simply too unbelievable to accept. Even he couldn't understand that he had been resurrected into this realm. He even considered whether or not it was all but a dream.

As he lay his sleepy body in the warm bed, staring towards the white ceiling, the door to his room slowly opened, and a beard entered the room before the actual person.

Viscount Anwir.

Even though it was late at night, about eight hours after the sunset, Viscount Anwir has appeared to talk with his son.

Kendrick pushed his exhausted body up from his bed. His eyes meandered about the room, complimenting its beauty in his head, until coming to a halt in front of an elderly gentleman stroking his beard.

It was, of course, Viscount Anwir, as he had suspected.

He had been accosted by the devil himself.

"What brought you here, Father?"

Kendrick didn't wait for him to speak before asking.

Viscount Anwir grinned and chuckled.

"Why are you being so disrespectful to your father? Isn't it reasonable for me to see my darling child whenever I want?"

Despite what he said, his face held the expression of someone who appeared to be up to no good.

'Adorable my ass, it's no surprise Dan Alastair became a maniac. So that was all due to his cretinous father.'

Kendrick didn't disguise his displeasure and showed his true self. He's not going to allow anyone to boss him around. He didn't want to be exploited for their personal gain.

Furthermore, it appeared that his father's ambitions were linked to the game's original plot. Above all, he wished to avoid being swept up in the tides of events.

"You wouldn't come here unless you had a purpose, Father. Speak out right now. Let's get this over with so I can sleep again."

"Oh, what a clever baby I have. You're my own blood and flesh, as I suspected... So, without further ado, let me get to the point. Dan, we're heading to the capital and the palace tomorrow."

"Why?"

"The King's daughter has reached the age of 18. Your objective is to seduce her and make her your sweetheart. It should be reasonably effortless with your looks."

As expected, the old geezer was really up to no good.

"Ready or not, you'll have to accompany us to the capital tomorrow."

'Us?'

Anwir Alastair exited his room and shut the door behind him.
