Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Meeting One's Match

Sentry flew as fast as he could go to get to Allen. Allen met Invincible in the comics and shows which began the relationship between the pair. Out of all the individuals in the Invincible Universe, Allen was the most chill and friendly person. Having him as an ally was a huge bonus. It also helped that Allen got a saiyan zenkai every time he survived a near-death experience.

Sentry also had another reason for wanting to meet Allen. He wanted a fight! Not one where he would get his ass kicked like if he fought his father, one where both sides would pull their punches like with his brother, nor one-sided battles like he would have with most of humanity.

Allen was the first person that he could truly go all out on and test himself. To see where his weaknesses truly were and how to improve himself in time for the two upcoming wars.

After arriving near the moon, Sentry looked around before he saw Allen staring at him from above. Allen was an orange humanoid with a single large eye that took up most of his face. He only had 3 fingers and toes on each of his hands and feet as well. Seeing that Sentry had noticed him before his first attack, Allen nodded.

'Most of the first-timers usually fall for it. Either this was not his usual patrol and he was expecting me or he has good senses. Either way, he was prepared.'

Allen was about to charge at Sentry when he felt a message in his mind.

{We are about to fight, right?} Sentry asked

{Yep. I wanna see how tough you are so don't hold anything back!} Allen replied

{Wasn't planning on it. I'm Sentry by the way. Well, that is my codename at least.} Sentry continued while he got himself mentally prepared

{Oh. Most people don't introduce themselves. I'm Allen. Nice to meet you} Allen replied caught off guard

Then he was really caught off guard. Sentry moved at his fastest and charged into Allen, pushing him into a nearby satellite. That single blow charged up Sentry's suit to over 50%.

{Haha! That was a cheap shot, kid! But I like it!}

Allen charged back at Sentry and raised his fist. Sentry did the same while putting all the energy stored in his armor into his hand. Both fists clashed before an explosion rang out. Pushing both sides back.

Allen got the worst of it. The explosion plus the below caused his knuckles to bleed. But besides those small injuries and his uniform being destroyed, the alien was fine.

Sentry was also pretty good. While the blow had pushed him back, he only felt a slight sting in his fist. His armor around his arm was destroyed but it began to repair itself.

'Damn. Looks like we are on the same level without the vibranium. With it, I'm slightly above him in strength,' Sentry thought as he tried to organize his thoughts and come up with a plan of attack

'He's even better than I thought. Urath will be in some pretty good hands as long as he doesn't come across a Viltrumite.'

The duo charged toward each other once more but this time got entangled in a flurry of attacks. Each landing attack would either land on their opponent's body as a direct blow or they would dodge it. Both wanted to see how much their opponent could take.

While they had this fight, the pair realized they were even. Sentry's armor gave him the edge in strength and defense by a slight margin but Allen's experience allowed him to make up for that small difference. Both were at a standstill.

After exchanging over 300 moves, each of them began to lose steam. Sentry's armor could no longer regenerate fast enough to keep up with the fight while Allen could not back away enough to try and use his superior technique.

They could no longer dodge as well so it became less about skill and soon became a slugfest. This was about whoever gave out to their opponent first. And the one to give out was Allen.

Although Allen was just as strong as Sentry, he was less durable. He could no longer keep up. Every 3 blows from Sentry would only be returned by 1 from him. It was then that Allen knew he had been beaten.

{Alright, alright, alright! You win!} Allen pleaded as he tried to back away

Knowing not to push it anymore, Sentry stopped his assault and backed away as well

{Haha, sorry about that. Haven't been able to really let loose like that before.} Sentry sincerely apologized which earned him more brownie points in Allen's books

{No worries, ki... my bad. No worries, Sentry. There are few people I can really spar with as well. At least Urath will be safe in your hands.}

{Urath? This is Earth.} Sentry said feigning confusion

Allen looked stupefied

{Earth? Not Urath?}

{Not Urath.}

{Is that with an 'E'?}

{Yep.}

{Oh, I'm so gonna get fired.} Allen said as he held his head

He then began to explain the issue. Allen was Champion Evaluation Officer for the Coalition of Planets. His job was to test out the heroes/champions/leaders of planets that wanted to join the Coalition to see if they had what it took. He had been coming to Earth once every 3 years for the past 21 years because of a misunderstanding.

After apologizing to Sentry a few more times, Allen left with a good impression of Sentry. He had to hurry quickly if he wanted any chance of keeping his job.

With Allen gone, Sentry no longer hold it in and coughed up some blood. One of Allen's punches landed on his throat which caused a bit of damage. The rest of his body was also pretty bruised.

Although none of them were life-threatening, Sentry still decided to return to the lab to recover so Caitlin wouldn't be worried about him.

After sending her a text letting her know that he would not be back that night, Sentry returned back to the atmosphere to get to the lab.

When he arrived at the lad, Scotty saw the state he was in. The suit had been overdraft and was no longer repairing itself while Sentry was covered in bruises.

"Wow! Who did that to you? Looks like you got your shit rocked," Scotty asked with interest

Ever since he found out that Conner was the son of Omni-Man, he figured he was invincible. Yet it seemed that he met someone that could really give him some trouble.

"Hopefully a new friend. And this isn't even his limit. That guy can get so much stronger than he currently is. Even my dad won't be able to beat him in 10 years or so," Conner admitted honestly

Scotty could not believe this. He already figured Omni-Man was the strongest being in the universe. He could not imagine someone else that could surpass him.

Conner saw that Scotty did not believe him but he ignored his friend. Conner hopped in a medical machine he had Scotty build after he stole the idea from DBZ. Once he got it, he put on the oxygen mask and filled it up with liquid before resting.

After such a good fight, he deserved the sleep.
