....

"What do we have here...?"

A man in his early twenties appeared, pushing under the tape and ducking under it as the police sirens flashed on and off in the background, his expression neutral as he re-adjusted his black leather jacket with his police badge on it, his chocolate brown eyes looked around, noticing the many civilians stood by the tape he had just past, watching with curiosity as they asked other officers for more information, reporters in the distance, pushing past many and filming the scene of the crime.

The detective stood out amongst his peers, jet black hair, a white shirt with a crooked black tie under his leather black jacket, pants, and some smart shoes to go alongside it, he walked closer to the crime scene, noticing that the shop's window had been broken entirely with glass shards on the pathway next to the shop, a small ounce of blood on the floor which he had assumed the other officers and forensic scientist had gotten onto by now.

The crime he and many officers had been called to had been in the middle of downtown in Tokyo, a populated area where the alleged criminals that had caused all of this commotion had disappeared as quick as they came, behind the office where he had just entered were two other officers who were lower-ranked, they held the reporters and civillains back.

One of the female officers on the scene had turned to him with a pen and notepad in hand, glancing at him for a few moments before turning around to what seemed to be a witness.

"Hold on a moment, please go with those two and get treatment for your broken arm." The woman with light blue hair and glasses spoke to the witness.

"Got it."

The witness walked away and towards the ambulance where paramedics were waiting to give the witness treatment.

"What are we dealing with here? Robbery?" The man with black hair questioned.

"Yes, the witnesses have all said the same thing pretty much Kazuko-senpai, they were shopping in their local grocery store, and then two women with leather jackets and tank tops had come in with weapons." She let out a sigh and looked up towards Kazuko. "By the way nice to see you, I thought you were taking some time off?"

Kazuko looked at her silver badge with her name on, 'Akane', a woman which he had become very familiar in the force.

"I was but you can only take so much time off when you are doing a job like this, I got bored and told the commissioner that I would be coming back into work and she agreed without saying much."

"I see..." Akane messed with her glasses and her blue hair which was being kept in a neat bun.

"How is the evidence examination going? Do we know anything yet about this situation that occurred other than what we know?" Kazuko tried to get more information.

"They have taken the evidence back to the lab for it to get analyzed and then we will know more, for now, we are sitting ducks with the press trying to get as much information on this as soon as possible, I told the other officers to remain silent on that matter as it would be unwise to give out the information we are not sure about."

"How about telling them that there had been a robbery and leaving it at that?" Kazuko stepped forward and into the store its self.

To the left of him as he immediately entered the store he noticed the counter which customers would use to pay and checkout for the items they have purchased in the store a few feet away from him.

"We were thinking of saying that to get them off of our backs..." Akane watched as Kazuko brushed past a shelving unit that had fallen onto the ground.

"What did worker say about the two robbers? Did he say where they were heading for?"

"It is what you'd expect, a bunch of lazy crooks who decided to rob a local store for all of its money before fleeing..."

Kazuko let out a breath, disappointed at his partner's answer.

"Well all of this will hit a brick wall eventually and when that happens we are going to have to wait and see if any other witnesses or if the robbers decide to make another attempted robbery."

Kazuko frowned and watched the copious amounts of other officers do their respective jobs.

"Hey, it is like you said, if they decide to make another robbery, we should know more about those individuals and what they are planning from now on out, heck they could turn out to be some one-time robbers looking for a few extra yen on the side."

Akane shrugged while her eyes wandered.

'All these civilians crowding the scene and yet no one else came forward with a story other than what we have been told...'

Her eyes wandered over to the ambulance, she thoroughly checked out one of the witnesses as he explained what had happened to another lower-ranking officer that used a notepad in his hands, writing down every little bit of information as the witness wore a cast that hung over his shoulder. Something about the man wearing a checkered shirt and baggy pants and his consistent glances at Akane had left her zoned out of anything Kazuko was saying. Again! His gaze was significantly weaker than any witness she had gotten to question, was it nervousness? was it the man being simply scared? There were a lot of questions she had yet she felt a million miles off from finding out the true answer.

"Akane?" Kazuko stared at her with a confused expression. "What is it that has gotten you in such a trance?" Kazuko looked over to where Akane had been staring at, or more importantly, who she had been staring at.

'The hell?'

The man she was staring at seemed to be feeling all sorts of emotions from Kazuko could tell.

The witness in question seemed to glance over at them in quick succession, unable to deny his unconscious desire to see what Kazuko and Akane were up to, each glance was different, the first one Kazuko got to witness was different from one another.

The first was a fear-like type of reaction.

The second was a more nervous expression, he almost looked like he was ready to be sweating bucket loads.

Thirdly, the witness appeared to be composing himself.

Being heavily trained in how the unconscious human body operates, Kazuko knew that the witness was more than suspicious, his body language was a dead giveaway and he wondered whether the man knew more than he was giving off.

"He's-"

"Suspicious?"

Akane interrupted her partner and looked up to him, suddenly noticing the height difference that the two had, Akane being the shorter out of the two as she looked up to him, Kazuko wasn't very tall but tall enough that she had to look up to him. The officer in question wondered whether or not Kazuko had grown in recent times, she knew she had never noticed it before.

Kazuko shook his head and reached into his pocket and pulled out his mobile phone before checking the timer, it read '17:55PM'.

It was dark outside due to being near towards Christmas, often as the day got later the night grew quicker and quicker towards fall until it got dark out at 5 PM. Most citizens had begun to get prepared for Christmas.

"His body language tells me that he is somewhat suspicious, it could be nervousness from everything that occurred in there." Kazuko frowned and took a step back.

Walking away and closer to the 'KEEP OUT' tape, the officer ducked under and made his way through crowds of people with Akane behind him.

"What now?" Akane said as she placed her hand on his shoulder.

"I'm going to patrol some more and wait for more information to be revealed, we are practically sitting ducks." Kazuko sighed.

"Let me come with you." Akane followed him to his car.

"Huh?"

"It's like you said right? We are sitting ducks so my time is better spent patrolling alongside someone who knows how to do their work and not someone who just tries to win over as many women as possible." Akane thought of another officer who was always annoying her.

Kazuko paused for a brief moment as he thought to himself.

"Right... I guess that makes sense when you put it like that." Kazuko pulled out his keys and unlocked the car door.

"Indeed, so should we go?" Akane pushed up her glasses and walked around the car.

"I suppose."

Akane opened the car door on the passenger side of the vehicle and hopped in alongside a thoughtless Kazuko, words failed to be spoken nor did they need to be spoken in the long run. He knew Akane well enough to know that the girl would put up a good fight as his partner once more tonight, since he had taken a break she had been partnering with others until he got back.

Now that he was of course they could go back to what they had been doing since the start of their partnership, working together and taking down criminals like he had done since he was just a rookie police officer.

["Come in? We have a situation in the middle of downtown... A warehouse being used to store weapons has been tipped off by an anonymous source, does any officer in the vicinity of downtown copy?"] A voice spoke out over the radio that had been installed into Kazuko's car, Akane and Kazuko looked at each other for a brief moemnt.

BZZzzzzzt!

"Yes, me and officer Hideo are in the vicinity, are you talking about the warehouses just south of the port?" Kazuko turned to Akane as they waited for a response.

["Detective Hiroshi? I-Yes! We checked footage after that tip we recieved and footage suggests that whoever is running this potential operation is heavily armed and dangerous. There are multiple of these suspected criminals carrying trucks of weapons into warehouse three while the other two are left untouched."]

Akane imagined what the situation that they could be walking into.

"We will investigate and report to you on the matter." Kazuko placed down the microphone and placed the key in.

"..."

"..."

"You ready?" Kazuko turned to Akane.

The girl with light blue hair smiled wrly and pulled the hair bobble keeping her hair in a neat fashion, allowing her long hair to fall down gracefully.

"Always!"
