I stop the stream of annoying thoughts flooding my brain. If I want to be alive after all this and come out of this disaster as a winner, I must be strong. No other go.
Although I'm scared right now, my entire being should concentrate on one single goal, which is to save my parents. Despite of whatever Margaret told me about them, I clearly saw them suffering. And the fact that I'm a vampire who drinks blood real time, proves that they are alive.
So, it's my duty to rescue them and make them happy again. Let me focus on that. Only that.
I calm myself when a brutal kick comes my way again, making me stagger and fall down the concrete. It brings me back to reality. I turn to glare at her, but her black eyes are filled with a sarcastic mirth which burns me inside out.
Calm down, Eva! She's trying to make you lose focus. I remind myself.
I get up and find that we had already reached the end of stairs. A vast underground hole expands in front of me. It's a dark and old dungeon made of cement, projecting a long way ahead. Spider webs fills all the corners proving the point of abandonment. Am I going to be forgotten here?
"What are you staring at? Walk", she pushes me forward.
She holds the leash of the belt tightly and pulls me through the dome.
I gulp in horror. Blood!
The stench of blood is so strong which makes my stomach twist in hunger. I want it so badly. That's when a realization suddenly hit me. This is prison, where obviously tortures are common. If I'm shedding blood right now, everyone will be. Shit! How am I going to survive here?
And to my surprise, there are different smells of blood originating from the dungeon. I never knew this about my food. All I was aware is that blood tasted awesome and the blood which was given to me by the healer everyday tasted and smelled the same. So, I didn't know different kinds existed.
My appetite is stronger now and it's getting to my head. I'm trying really hard to calm myself and fight the urge to break out of this chain and go rampant. Because each time I tried it, the thorns only entered deeper into my skin.
She suddenly stops and smirks at me. She grabs my chin to twists my face up.
"Look at your eyes… I'm loving this. Can't wait to see you when you die of hunger and starvation", she smirks before letting me go. Are my eyes looking weird? After the incident, I never got a chance to take a look at myself in the mirror. I have no idea what she's talking about.
As we walk, we enter into another dome and into a bigger clearing than before. A very big statue takes the centre of this area. There are four pouncing wolves facing each direction, with their teeth out in a devouring fashion and going for the kill. The statue looks so real that it reminds me of the day in woods.
My body trembles in fear. Whenever I remember that day, of the minute I died, I can still feel it inside me and it's brutal. I quickly turn my head down, but something catches my attention in that minuscule of second and I take a deeper look at the statues again.
There are some forms of symbols engraved on each wolf's chest, which is the lower side of their bodies.
The first wolf facing the entrance has a symbol with one inverted, one more normal triangle interconnected with each other inside a circle. The triangles, if seen from a different angle can also be considered as a star. The mark is engraved on the left chest of the wolf.
The next wolf which we cross on the right side has a half moon with claw marks breaking the moon in between. The symbol is so gnarly, yet serene. This wolf in turn has a half moon engraved in it's retina which looks beautiful.
The other wolf facing backwards to the entrance has a kind face in spite of the killer stance it has taken. This wolf has a very complicated symbol like an eyebrow protecting the eye below which some lines underneath like a letter. I can't exactly read what it is, but this has gotten into my memory now.
Another tug on the belt pulls me forward to enter inside another dark dome, before I can catch the symbol on the wolf facing the left.
"Wait… I want to….", I stumble which gains her attention.
But instead of stopping, she drags the leash so painfully that I can feel the muscles tear from my arms.
"Ahhh"
It hurts but I still try my best to have a look at that wolf, but my efforts end in vain as we already enter the next dome.
Two guards stand in the entryway who opens the big gate protecting the dome. Till now there were no guards, even in the dusty room where we entered from.
The guards are dressed the same way as the girl in front of me. A ledger is passed to her by one of the guards and she writes something in it.
This pathway is literally the prison. We cross through various rooms or cells in this case where there are people and animals chained up, so brutally with blood dripping from various parts of their bodies. I can't take this up. My stomach is coiling in hunger. I need it so much.
From here on, there is at least one guard stationed outside each prison cell. And, not to mention, all of them look mean and scary with an animosity towards me. I don't know why they hate me so much, without even getting to know who I am. I still don't understand what am I being punished for. It'll be great if somebody can explain me that first.
