After spending most of their day in the zoo, mostly staring at monkeys jumping around on trees, Miyako and Asahi go to eat at a nearby restaurant, upon entering the restaurant they were immediately greeted by a waiter who brought them to a corner table for two, he asked for their orders.
And after ordering, they are both visually uncomfortable by their surroundings, they had entered a fancy restaurant which they both had never been in one before, they try to be on their best behavior and talk formally, they were both wearing casual attire so they felt somewhat out of place in a restaurant like this, Asahi looks over at Miyako at the other side of the table, "We should try to get out of here as soon as we can." Asahi whispers, Miyako nods repeatedly "Please do, I can't handle places like this well." When the waiter comes back with their orders, they see a drink they didn't order and bravely ask about it, "what is that drink? I'm sure we didn't order that." Asahi asks, the waiter looks down at the drink and back at Asahi and Miyako who looked somewhat confused.
It's a free drink for couples, you saw the sign outside right? Miyako starts blushing and faces the wall, Asahi sarcastic laughs and says, "We appreciate it..." The waiter puts down their food on the table and leaves to answer another customer.
"The food looks delicious." Miyako said as she took out her phone to take a picture, this time Asahi was prepared so he didn't take a bite of his food yet, he looks smug and does a small pose for the picture, Miyako looks down at her phone smiling for awhile after as Asahi tries to mind his manners at the table even though he was starving.
He eats slowly even though he was starving, but slowly begins to enjoy the food more and more, he looks over at Miyako to ask what she thought of the food, when he looks over, Miyako seemed to be enjoying the food more than him, he smiled a bit before continuing to eat his food, even though he wanted to eat the food as fast as he could and get out of the restaurant, the atmosphere started to change drastically around him and Miyako, she was silent the whole time but she probably felt the same.
They had unknowingly relaxed and started getting used to how silent the restaurant was, with the occasional conversation being heard and the sound of tableware being put back on the plates as people picked up their food gently and silently, the area between him and Miyako seemed to have a deeper meaning, yet it was shallow but special.
Even after they finished their plates, they continued chatting and talking about their experience in the zoo earlier that morning, they had entered the restaurant when is was still bright out, but now it had already became night, but neither Miyako nor Asahi felt any difference, they didn't feel they were wasting time there, instead, they felt like this was the best thing they could have asked for, a chance to talk with each other in silence and discuss things that wouldn't feel the same being discussed elsewhere, they happily talked for hours, about what they wanted to do next, about what things happened in their past, about what they felt like the trip was going to become and what would lie ahead on their experiences.
They expressed that they were satisfied with what they had so far, but perhaps more wouldn't be an issue, a silent night, only the two of them were left in the restaurant by then, all other customers had left earlier, but Miyako and Asahi seemed to be in a world of their own, talking away as if they had all the time in the world to get to know each other, but unfortunately that time would be cut short as the waiter walked over to them to tell them that the restaurant would be closing soon.
They apologized for staying in the restaurant until such a late hour, the waiter told them it was fine since they don't close until the scheduled closing time anyway, as they left the restaurant, the waiter stood behind them at the door and asked them to come again, though they doubted if they could come again.
As they walked back to the hotel, they talked about how nice the restaurant was despite how they first felt about it, Miyako seemed to be very happy with today and Asahi seemed very happy as well, they got a chance to talk for a long time in an relaxing and quiet environment even though they weren't the only ones there at the start, they expressed that the food was the best they've had in a long time, similar to the childhood foods that you grow up loving but end up forgetting as you grow up.
They decided that if they had the chance, they should go to a local café again to have another chat with each other, but they knew deep down that most likely wouldn't happen again given their time limit, they didn't want to waste time at all, but because of that, they couldn't fully enjoy what experiences they had together which made them wish they had more time.
When they reached the hotel, they could barely remember the sweet feeling they had while speaking to each other for so long, immersed in each others words, but they were determined to try and recreate the feeling if they could, but they may likely have no time.
