Chapter 21 - Chapter Twenty-One

Noah felt his anger rage from within himself. He set Tulip down gently. He set his vines on fire so he could use it. He made the fire into an expanding ball of bright, white-hot flame. He sent it spinning at Nightmare. It hit her. But barely even phased her.

She had had enough. Nightmare targeted Noah. Sending her dark leeches, shadows of evil people that had died over the years, at him. He slashed his sharp, dual-blade, swords at them, but there were too many. He was overrun. The shadows scratched and clawed at him. One of the leeches tore the amulet from his neck. He changed back in a dog.

Tulip felt that half of her soul hit the ground. Weakly she pulled it toward her, the same way she had moved the leaves. Once the necklace touched her hand she felt complete. Whole. Her skin started to glow, and the green glow lifted from her skin into a sphere around her. Tulip felt herself getting stronger with each passing second.

When the green energy faded, Tulip had changed. Her clothes were made of different color autumn leaves. Her dress was now a pair of pants and a matching shirt. Her eyes still glowed their pure green. She was taller, older looking, and stronger with the Amulet hanging around her neck.

"Nightmare!" Tulip shouted, getting up from the ground.

"Huh," she tilted her head down and smirked, "You're still alive. Oh well. Just more fun for me. Can you wait until after I'm done killing our husband?"

Tulip flared her aura to its max intensity. It was visible and bright green, even to those who aren't able to see could have seen it. She focused her energy on the pure things in the world. She released it. The green energy took the form of forest animals. Deer, rabbits, birds, and other free-spirited animals. They attacked the leeches. Noah fell from their grasp. Tulip refocused then released energy. She created a small sphere that grew bigger and bigger within seconds.

Soon the sphere was bigger than Tulip was. It was the energy sphere of life and free spirit. Tulip spun the sphere above her head, crossing her arms.

"You know what Nightmare?" Tulip said mimicking Nightmare's head tilt and smirk, "You're one I be sad to see go. You know, since you ate bad souls," Tulip pulled the sphere in a circle and hurled it at Nightmare. It was a direct hit. The sphere imploded on her. Nightmare was consumed by the energy. She was no more.

Tulip walked over to Noah and returned the amulet to its place around his neck. Small spirit vines swirled around him, healing him, and changed him back to a human form. Then faded. Noah opened his eyes and saw Tulip. She seemed different to him.

"Hey there. Did we win?"

"Mmhmm. Yes. Yes, we did."

"That's good. Can we go home now?"

"No, not yet. There is one thing we have to do first. Nightmare isn't finished forever. As long as there is fear and pain in the world."
