Paloma left for the servant's quarter with the little child sleeping in her arms. After doing what she was told to do, where she left the child with the Chief maid, she went to continue with her work.
.
Meanwhile, the Queen sat in her room, she just finished freshening up when she heard a knock on the door.
"Come in" she answered. The person stepped in and it was another maid.
"My Lady, the King has finally left the court room. He is in his room now." She reported.
"Is the court meeting completely over?" She wanted to be sure."
"I think so, your majesty. The chieftains have all left." She informed. The Queen nodded in approval and the maid left the room. Sonia stood up from where she sat, heading for the King's room. When she knocked on the door, she received a reply and she immediately stepped in.
"Good morning, My Lord" she addressed him.
"Good morning" he replied. He didn't seem okay.
"Is everything alright? You woke up pretty early and for a court meeting?...."
"What were you expecting after people's lives and properties were destroyed yesterday?" He replied sounding obvious. "You don't expect me to sit and watch them suffer. I had to take quick action."
"I know that but couldn't you just wait till it was fully morning? Why so early? We didn't even get to spend much time....." She said looking sad when was interrupted.
"I know right? Women will never be satisfied with what they get even if you gave them the whole world.
I'm not surprised. No wonder my father tried to keep my mother low. Even if she got the opportunity to enjoy what I'm giving you, she still won't have been satisfied. You're all the same" he spat looking irritated and slightly angered.
He was supposed to have that court meeting yesterday at afternoon because of the werewolf attack but he postponed it and even spent more time with her. Still, she wasn't satisfied. Always wanting everything and still act like she got nothing, he thought to himself.
"Sonny, I have a lot on my head as a ruler, a King, a husband and a father. There are still many more roles I have to play with my position and there is no doubt that you have always been supporting me. But I need you to be reasonable sometimes. I can't give you all the time in the world. I need to be balanced. Try and understand that and stop trying to confuse me. Please...." He tried to explain to her calmly.
"Breakfast is served" she changed the topic as if that was what she was here for and immediately left the room. He knew she was angry.
He just sighed and left for the dining room.
"Daddy!" He heard his youngest daughter, Amy call him when he entered the dining hall. She ran to hug him and he took her into his warm embrace.
"My three little musketeers" he smiled at them as they each came to hug him.
He looked at wife from the corner of his eyes to see her moody face. He wasn't going to apologize today, he made up his mind. She had to face the truth that she was quite overbearing sometimes.
"Dad, where is our little Sister?" This time it was Leon who asked and he was talking about the baby girl his mother called their sister. For a moment, both the King and Queen were caught off guard until the King spoke.
"Oh dear..." King William was short of words. How was he going to explain that?
"She is not your sister" deadpanned Sonia.
"She is just a maid" she finished and Leon looked offended.
"But you said she was our sis....." He barely finished his statement before he was attacked again.
"And I said she's not your sister!" Shouted Sonia.
"Do not talk to the Crowned Prince in that manner" the King warned. She just stared at him for a while before turning to the dishes and serving her meal.
The meal was a long silent one as both partners were pondering over something and it was just the kid's talking to each other.
"My King, the Chieftains have arrived." A guard informed and the King nodded as if he knew they would be back again today.
After the meal, they left the dining and the King went to continue his court duties.
