Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Taking Righteous and Courageous Actions (2)

The location of the waste recycling station was fairly remote, making it an ideal place for them to bring Caroline Ruiz to teach her a lesson if that was their intention.

Without hesitation, Bryan Cooper headed straight into the recycling station on his bike. At this moment, he didn't notice how out of place his immaculate suit looked in such a filthy environment.

The other two police officers went searching in different directions.

Caroline was indeed lured to the waste recycling station by the petty thief, who stealthily snuck into the station with a lack of personnel. They entered unnoticed.

After bringing Caroline to the station with his familiarity, the thief stopped running and turned around to deal with her. He was surprised not to see his companion.

However, he quickly calmed down. After all, it was just a young girl – he couldn't believe that he, a grown man, wouldn't be able to handle her.

"I've already called the police. Hand over the wallet," Caroline shouted breathlessly, still unaware of the danger she was in at this moment.

"Hmph, such big talk. Let's see if you have what it takes to get it back," the thief said angrily, having never seen such an overconfident do-gooder.

Why didn't someone else chase after her? Just a young girl trying to play the hero?

When Bryan arrived, he saw Caroline being grabbed by the collar and being slapped. The scene was so horrifying that he couldn't bear to look at it every time he recalled it later on.

The man was so carried away with scolding that he didn't even notice Bryan approaching.

He kept cursing with crude and offensive language, his words unbearable to the ear.

Caroline, refusing to admit defeat, glared at the thief with wide-open eyes and swollen cheeks. Her oversized bat-wing knitted sweater slid down one shoulder, revealing her smooth, fair-skinned shoulder.

"Heh, your body leaves something to be desired, but I didn't expect such nice skin on a little girl," the man said with lustful eyes, admiring her with smacking sounds.

"Bastard!" Caroline, who had been silent until now, erupted at the sight of the man's disgusting behavior and words. She kicked out blindly and somewhere on the man's body, causing him to howl in pain as he let her go. She didn't give up, chasing after him and biting his arm hard, refusing to loosen her grip.

She could clearly taste the nauseating metallic flavor of blood between her teeth.

The man's wails intensified, and even Bryan was dumbstruck by the scene. In his shock, the man's self-preservation instincts were triggered. Already suffering pain in his legs, he now had to deal with the feeling of his flesh almost being ripped off his arm. In desperation, he attempted to kick the biting girl away from him.

In that instant, Bryan snapped back to reality. He swiftly picked Caroline up and then forcefully kicked the thief as the police officers arrived just in time.

"...The wallet." Caroline, not having seen who her rescuer was, uttered two words as the police officers approached.

One of the officers frisked the thief and quickly found the pink wallet. The other officer took the wallet and walked over to Caroline, handing it to her. "Miss, take a look and see if anything is missing."

"The wallet is not mine," Caroline shook her head in refusal.

"What?" Not only were the two officers bewildered, but even Bryan, standing behind Caroline, found the situation bizarre.
