After lunch, Carolline returned to her room for a nap, got up at two o'clock to read some books.
An hour later, she went to Bryan Hawkins's room, but only Uncle Lei was helping him make his bed. As soon as Uncle Lei saw Carolline, he directly told her Bryan's whereabouts without waiting for her to ask.
Carolline ran to the backyard, and indeed, Bryan was sitting in his wheelchair, weeding the ground. Was this how he spent his days?
She walked over and said formally, "Given your condition, moderate labor is advised."
"I know my limits." Bryan sat up straight and wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand. Knowing why she had come, he said directly, "Wait for me for ten more minutes."
After saying that, he stepped on the hose lying on the ground, and water sprayed out. Carolline wasn't paying attention, and some droplets splashed onto her, chilling and startling her enough to dodge to the side.
