Emily Hill just stared blankly at the somewhat strange-looking Carolline Ruiz, who tried very hard to restrain herself. Still, Emily managed to notice her odd expression, which seemed overly cunning.
"Who did you meet with yesterday?" Since Emily knows most of Carolline's friends, as a mother, she was genuinely unsure which friend of Carolline's could make her so nervous.
"...Someone you don't know." Carolline paused, then gave a vague answer. This was the first time Emily had pursued her inquiries so relentlessly.
"..." Emily was now frustrated but chose not to pry further into who could have made Carolline lie to her. Considering Carolline's reluctance to answer, she decided not to push the matter further.
"Okay, I won't force you to tell me. You should go back to your room and get some rest. Aren't you on the night shift tonight? What would you like for dinner? I'll make it for you." Emily generously let her off the hook.
