Chapter 80 - Contact

Swinging the door outwards to be found to my own fears, a child, a helpless one at that dressed in rags. His eyes were drenched with tears scooting to the far end of the corner. His neck was covered in bites and dried blood. 

Instead of allowing Alex to take a bite, my deep insecurities were being faced with doing the right thing over hunger. Helping the kid find his parents was important to me over the latter. The hunger pangs I decided will stay. 

"Alex, we're not gonna bite him okay?" I stated. 

"But I am hungry…" 

"I know, please be patient with me." 

I made him sit there with the kid while I retrieved fresh clothing and a bucket of water and a small pail of water. The child was reluctant to come to me and I didn't want to frighten him any more than I had already just by being here.
