Chapter 14 - Christian's heart/ The other guests

The next day Saniya knocks on Chara's door to awaken her around six o clock at night that evening when Vampire usually awakens from their slumber.

"Chara, do you want to see Christian?"

"Yes, I do…" She said with dismay in her heart.

Chara gets dressed in her new long dark green chambermaid gown, even given a cap to tie to her small bun. She does a twirl observing herself in the shattered mirror beside her bed.

"Do you like it Chara?" Saniya asked.

"It's very old-fashioned…"

"You now match the decor of the house, it looks cute on you." Saniya complimented.

"I can't tell if you like me or hate me."

"Come with me please," Saniya said.

Chara does as she is told making her way down the long dark hall to Christian's room, opening it she finds he is still sleeping, one of his hands is cuffed to the bar by the window.

"That is merely for his protection, he is still recovering," Saniya explained.

"You are demented you sick princess of the damned." Chara accused her.

"Whatever, he no longer has a fever and is only resting."

Christian's blanket is up to his chin while the other rests on top of the cover. Chara can feel the gentle breeze coming in from the cracked window.

She noticed how his left eye was heavily bandaged, she could spot dressing all the way up to his neck. Simple bandaids were found placed randomly all over his face.

"I see…" Chara replied, "Thank you Saniya."

"Don't mention it, you can stay with him now if you wish."

"I will...thank you."

Saniya promptly leaves taking a broom with her that Chara was sure she did not see before in her hands. She was intimidated by how professional and mysterious their captor was.

Saniya was impressive and powerful, her mere presence could bend time around her and you would not be able to understand why or how she did it.

Chara's attention is brought back to Christian hearing him wheeze silently in his sleep.

The sound of light rain could be heard pattering on the window sill outside, the maid now has turned into a prisoner of a cozy little habitat for witches.

"Cha...ra…" A small voice said.

"Master!" Chara shouted clambering to her feet.

She trips on her way to the bed knocking her head against the bed itself. Christian laughed at her futile attempt to reach him.

"What happened to you?" Chara chided.

"I don't remember, I couldn't stop laughing is all I recall."

"That eye really is a curse…" Chara stated annoyed.

"Chara, your dress?" Christian points out.

"I was given new clothes, now I look like a vintage maid…"

"I was going to say you look cute." Christian praised her.

Chara blushes to take a seat beside Christian, he gawks at the shackles latched onto his hand.

"We're not getting out of here are we?" Christian said, "Can I just give up Chara?"

"I feel the same…"

"Then I am going to give up if you do Chara."

Chara scans the ground, she remembered yesterday's conversation suddenly.

"Wait, Christian!"

"Yes, Chara...?"

"This whole thing was set up by the captor to bring us here!" Chara affirmed.

"Look Chara...it's okay. I am just done with this all."

"Christian, perhaps you are just tired."

"You are right Chara...I am tired. I am going to rest more." Christian stated.

"I am so sorry…"

"Don't be, you are doing your best for me, I didn't want you used by the hospital as a tool…"

"Christian…I will be going now."

"Thank you, Chara."

Chara closes the door gently behind her, she was far from relieved with everything that has happened. Christian has been caught and passed around.

"This will be the last time!" Chara shouted.

"Last time for what young lady?" A stranger asked.

His head popped around the corner, he comes out giving her a good look over down to the slender bow tied on her back.

"Excuse me?"

"Sorry about that, my name is Harold Tribold! My wife is sleeping in the room here."

"Wife? Oh no you are the other guest aren't you?"

"We were kidnapped and been here god knows how long." He whispered.

"Tribold...that name sounds familiar…" Chara thought to herself.

"I have a daughter, but...we don't know where she is at," Harold answered showing Chara a picture of a little girl from his wallet, he then moves his thumb to show her current look.

"A-Alice! Sir, how do you know Alice?" Chara stated.

"I told you she is my daughter."

"Does that mean you know Christian?" Chara asked.

His eyes lit up the second she mentioned his name, he was able to find pictures of Alice and Christian together from middle and high school.

"Sir...Christian is in the other room. Perhaps you can talk to him."

"Are you saying he got spirited away here?" Harold questioned, "We'll bring him out!"

"He can't come out right now, but you can say hello."

"Wait till the wife wakes up, we will greet him then."

Chara bows out pleasantry, he goes back into his tiny cozy room, but not before waving.

"Alice...you been keeping a dirty secret from us," Chara said to herself.

She runs back to Christians' room to find him sitting up with a blank stare on his face, he turns to give her a painful smile back.

"Christian!" Chara yelled.

Dashing over to his bedside he takes her by his unrestrained hand rubbing his face against her open palm. Chara blushes unknowingly what to do.

"Chara, if we make it out of this...run away with me please!" He begged.

"Christian…"

"No more anything, we can run away to anywhere just the two of us!" He spouted.

Chara slaps Christian in the face out of scared desperation of her master's life and sanity, he releases her from his tight grip speechless.

"Are you okay?"

Tears well up in the corner of his eyes holding his cheek, gazing down at the blanket he says nothing more to her.

"Christian...I know you come a long way, but this isn't the way to do it." Chara explained.

"I thought I heard a lover's spat!" A new voice rang out.

Christians' eyes widen in what almost seemed like a horror, he straightens his back pulling the blanket up trying to hide his bandaged body.

"You look like you served war boy!" The voice pressed.

"I didn't sir…"

"Well speak up boy! Are you going to talk to me?"

"Why are you even here Mr. Harold! Christian shouted.

"I could the same question to you youngster."
