Chapter 35 - The warning - Part 4

Alex wakes up early in the morning as he was used to his mother always banging on his doorway or how his sister would make him dress her for the day. He sits alone in a single framed bed by himself.

His throat tickled, he could find he was choking out red liquid from his lungs loosely in phlegm coating the palm of his hand. The door is automatically swung open for Everett to dash in concerned about Alex.

"What's wrong with me?" Alex asked.

Helping Alex stand to wash over the basin he continues to hack causing him to vomit into the sink, Everett throws the water out to only pour more from the pitcher into the pan.

"We will have Mai check you out later Alex." Everett commented, "Take it easy…"

"What will we do today?" Alex said exhaustedly.

"I am going to take you to see my master…" Everett noted.

"Your master?"

"Yes, he lives here. I would like him to meet you." Everett explained happily.

"So somewhere in these confusing doors?" Alex asked.

"No…" Everett replied.

Everett stuffed his hands into his pockets, each step was giant to Alex. He had to pursue the man running as fast as his feet would carry him. He panted along the way in his best effort to catch up.

He opens the door to his office, it was small and barely able to fit two people let alone the number of people in the compound itself. Knocking his foot against the wall the invisible panel became accessible allowing Everett to activate the small latch.

A hole formed, Alex yelled out with glee. Everett takes a candle sitting on his desk, lighting it. Carrying it delicately in his hands.

"Alex, for this point forward you need to be quiet please," Everett asked.

He became silent, a smile shone brightly on his face in excitement. They would walk along the corridor unlit. Sometimes they would pass skeletons or large gaps in the surface of the walls, you could see great force punched into the bricks.

A large round stone the size of the inside could be seen naturally spinning the further they walked casually on. The mysteries of the path kept Alex guessing the whole time Everett had enjoyed his innocent expressions.

"What is this anyway?" Alex whispered.

"Eternal vampires before us live in an underground world, you might be frightened…" Everett answered.

"Are they not like you?" Alex winced.

"No Alex…"

They halted in front of another dead end, Everett punted the wall hard with his boot drawing it inside. Alex clung to Everett softly padding into the dark and dingy tomb.

An audible series of coughing could be heard inside the murky, damp space. Alex has to adjust his eyes to the light in his surroundings to find the coffin standing up at the end of the hall.

It appeared to be a waterlogged coffin surviving the odds, Everett removed the covering to find nothing inside, but a hollow cavity. The lining has a short dagger pushed into the stuffing, a note is attached.

Everett swiped it to take a few minutes to read and register his findings, he took Alex's hand.

"We can't stay here!" Everett shouted.

Shuffling to run, Alex is shot in the back, Everett catches him before he fully collapses to the ground. In the distance, Everett caught sight of a man dressed in white carrying a large bow in hand.

His red eyes penetrated Everetts swinging the weapon to his side, staying a little far.

"The kid is shot with a deadly amount of cyprdrenite, don't you dare move!" The man threatened.

"Where is my master?" Everett howled.

"He is dead, if you want the girl you will bring the kid!" The stranger warned.

Tossing the envelope to the ground the man heaved out laughter turning into a million jet black bats ramming into Everett and hammering Alex to the ground.

Gasping to breathe, Alex struggled to stumble against the concrete ground he spewed the contents of his bowels. The bats come back around in their aerial attack compiling back collectively.

"Shimon sends his regards to you Everett."

Morphing back into the winged creature he scurried back through the tunnels, Everett picked Alex up staggering to his feet.

"Shimon really wants this boy so badly that he can fight me rightly!" Everett yelled.

When they reached the top of the staircase Everett laid Alex down at the head of the stairwell. His skin twinged a swollen pinkness. Setting Alex up in his arms he rips the red thin slivers of gems from his back.

Busting through the door, the first person Everett bumped into was Dominique, taking him by the shoulders he shook him in a panic.

"It's Alex! Please get Mai!"

"Master, what happened?" Dominique asked.

"Just get Mai, Dominique! Now!" Everett argued.

Sprinting back to the room, he noticed blood pooling under the large cabinet in his room. Turning the knob he feared for the worst letting the body of his master hit the floor.

"No…no…Master Ayan…"

Curling into a ball on the floor crying into the corpse of the man he dearly loved.

"Master Everett!" Mai cried out.

"Your…you're master!" Dominique wailed.

The other residents clamored to see their clan master mourning the unforeseen circumstances no one thought would befall them. Gradually his body shifted into ash sinking into hardwood.

Later into the night, Everett sat with Alex in the infirmary, his face covered in his master's ash. Contemplating what to do he sat in the silence of the darkness.

"We boarded the hole up Master Everett." The man with the ponytail said.

"Thank you Gavyn," Everett answered.

"We will have cemented it in a couple of days!" Gavyn shouted, "How is the kid?"

"He is doing better…I am not letting him out of my sight tonight." Everett stated.

"I will keep guard Master Everett, allow me to suggest something though," Gavyn commented.

"Hmm…"

"You should turn him before they have a chance to use cyprdrenite again," Gavyn suggested.

Everett lifts Alex, he moans in pain bending his neck up for visibility. He softly tucked his fangs away into the scuff of his neck draining Alex away with tears in his eyes.

"I am sorry master…" Gavyn whispered.

Alex held tight to his chest, grunting soundlessly reaching for Everett as his body started to fade, his heart giving out from blood loss consumed by Everett's hands. He gives up falling to the bed.

Gavyn checked his wrist for his pulse, moving his fingers to his neck.

"It is time for you Master Everett."

"Understood…"

A screech is heard by the dwellers, curiosity mounts. Alex stood on top of the mattress like an animal. Huddled over, his grey eyes illuminate the darkroom, his arm in front swayed in front of him back and forth.

"Alex…you have already chosen your stance it seems." Everett grinned.

Snapping out of it Alex gawked around to view the audience around him nervously, no sign of the cyprdrenite allergy could be found in his system. His skin is a little more porcelain than he previously had.

"I…what happened?" Alex inquired.

"Welcome to the family Alex," Gavyn announced.

"No more cyprdrenite allergy to worry about now!" Everett smiled.

"Alright! I can save Rosalie now!" Alex cheered.

"Not so fast!" Dominique scolded.

"He is right…you are newly turned." Gavyn agreed.

"I have no time to wait to save Rosalie!" Alex shouted.

"I will come too then, this will be your first learning experience!" Dominique explained.
