Months had went by and Krause still wasn't responding to anything. Arlo was just lying down and looking up at the sky at that point while thinking to himself "it's my fault for being so weak damnit. Why did you have to die? Didn't you want to get your body back. Please just let me hear your voice one more time" He felt so guilty for Krause death, he felt hopeless and didn't have a goal anymore.
"Still no tears huh? Well I guess this body is just an illusion anyway" said Arlo while standing up for the first time in months.
He stood up while stumbling a bit and looked straight ahead to take a look at the situation, he saw something to the right of his field of vision, he had finally found land, It was the continent of Orion. After seeing the land, his eyes started to look alive and he found inspiration, he found a new goal.
He never had a goal for himself, his only goal used to be getting a body for Krause, but now it's different. His new goal was finding a way to revive Krause. He had started steering the wheel to the direction of the land and left the rest to the ship drifting. It look months more but he had finally reached shore.
He picked up his sword and put Krause is his satchel, he had made with spare ship parts, afterwards he got off the ship to take a look around. There were no docks at this part of the land, just a beach with sand that he hadn't seen in 500 years, sand that he had no memories of. He stared at the sand while thinking "what is this beautiful Golden dust" The only problem was that there was no forest behind that beach, just endless sand till the end of the horizon, it was a desert. He had thought that maybe he had reached the wrong location, but chose to go straight ahead to see what was on the other side of it.
He had been walking forward for months and still saw nothing but sand. If he was a human he would have died within days from dehydration. The scorching sun had begun to set again and his sword started glowing from the moonlight.
"This is the 100th time the sun has set, has it really been 3 months?" He said with his motivation starting to fade. "Hey Krause, can you believe it's already been 3 months and I still haven't found anything" Even though Krause had never responded to anything, Arlo still kept talking to him and making jokes with him.
Arlo had found a hill and had started climbing to the top. He looked around from the top and finally found something. It was city in the desert, it was made out of hardened sand and wood that had been imported from another region. It looked like a sun in the darkness of the night because of the abundance of torches. He was staring at it's beauty for some time before deciding to head over. At the front gate he was stopped by some guards.
"Halt! I need your identification plate before you enter" said the guard with suspicion of someone wanting to enter at night.
"Identification plate? I don't have one, where could I purchase one" said Arlo with fear of not being able to enter the kingdom.
"What?" Said the guard confusingly
It seemed been like the guard hadn't understood what Arlo was saying. In the guard's point of view, he only heard clicking sounds from Arlo's teeth. What was the problem here? It was because Arlo was a skeleton and didn't have any vocal cords. He had thought that he was speaking with Krause the whole time he was alive, but in reality they had only communicated with a telepathy spell. If Krause had still been alive, he would have casted a communication spell, but it looks like Arlo was in a tough spot without him.
Arlo had been trying to communicate with the guard for a few minutes until someone else appeared behind him. It was a girl, a girl 1.5 heads shorter than him with crimson red hair, light blue eyes like the sky, wearing black robes that a mage would wear and holding a Grimoire on her right hand.
"Hey Sir Siegismund, looks like you're having trouble with something" said the girl with a smile.
"Oh Alfreda, didn't see you there. It looks like this guy has lost his speech" said Siegismund with the expression of needing a bit of help.
"So that's the problem, I'll see what I can do. Hey buddy! Shake your head up and down if you consent on me using a spell on you"
*Arlo shook his head furiously*
Alfreda had opened her Grimoire and started going through the pages. After a bit, she found the spell and casted it on Arlo.
"Is it done can anyone understood me now?" Said Arlo with a glimmer of hope.
"It's a miracle!! He can speak again!" Said Siegismund with the expression of having witnessed a miracle.
"Oh right, you must be busy Alfreda. I'll open the gate for you right away"
While walking past Arlo to enter the gate, Alfreda pressed 2 gold coins and 5 silver coins into Arlo's hands while whispering "This should be enough for the id registration. Don't cause any trouble or else you're dead, false human"
Arlo had frozen for a few seconds and thought "How did she know I'm not a human? Was it just a hunch?"
Arlo gave her his thanks and told her that he'd return the favor one day. After Alfreda entered and the gate had shut behind her, Arlo told Siegismund that he wanted to purchase a new id plate.
"Id plate? Alright I'll bring you to the registration office" said Siegismund with slight suspicion.
