Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

While looking at the id plate, Arlo's vision began to fade and when it reappeared he was at a different place. He had already gotten used to this so he wasn't surprised, it was another memory. He was in a castle which was very crowded with nobles, in front of him was a man sitting on a throne, he had long dark blond hair and a Beard just as long, His eyes looked like the eyes of a hunter. That man was a king, but Arlo had realized out of instinct that the king he saw wasn't his father and the castle he was in wasn't his, it was definitely the castle where Jerold's birthday party took place.

The king held a speech and it looked like Arlo was about to be rewarded with a medal.

"Thanks to the prince of the golden fields empire, we were able to drive back the demon kings army. He even fought at the front lines as a knight. This man doesn't only have my gratitude, but also of the entire kingdom" said the king with a face of gratitude and seriousness.

The king gave arlo the medal, but it didn't look like Arlo was happy though? "I don't need this, i don't need this, useless, useless, useless. These memories are useless. Get me out of here, get me out!" Is what went through Arlo's mind because he hadn't cared about his memories anymore by this point. His only goal was to revive Krause, who had sacrificed his life for Arlo.

As Arlo was looking at the medal, it suddenly turned back into his id plate and the castle became the hall again. He had subconsciously sealed any further memories he would get and his mind started to gradually alter from this point onwards.

Arlo left the hall and went to the nearest town with an adventurer's guild hall. From the outside there was a spell book shop to the left of it and the right side was open. Arlo decided to head in to look for some quests. He had found it strange that he hadn't found any monsters the whole way to the kingdom, maybe the guild receptionist would be able to explain?

Inside the guild hall there were two floors and many tables with adventurers drinking beer from huge wooden mugs. The environment was very loud and it seemed like everyone was having a good time. Arlo looked around and he hadn't spotted anyone eye catching. Krause accidentally fell out of his satchel when he tripped over a bench and barbaric looking guy with long black hair, tattoos of animals all over his body and muscles towering over anyone had tried to pick up Krause, but Arlo stopped him before he could touch the Grimoire.

"Stop! Touch that and you're dead" said Arlo with eyes full of killing intent.

The whole guild fell silent. All eyes were on Arlo and the barbarian.

The barbarian froze because he could sense danger better than anyone there. He knew the most out of anyone that if he had picked up the book then everyone in the guild would have died.

"CALM DOWN BUDDY, I WAS JUST TRYING TO PICK THAT UP FOR YOU!!" shouted the barbarian with a slightly Shakey voice.

Arlo picked up Krause and the guild that had suddenly fallen silent began to bustle with noise again. After that incident, he had made his way to the receptionist to get some more info. The receptionist was female with shoulder length brown hair and hazel brown eyes.

"Hello, what can I do for you? I haven't seen you here before, so could it be that you wanted to register?" Asked the receptionist with a cheery attitude.

"That's right, here's my id plate"

*Arlo hands over his id card*

*The receptionist reads it, letting out a little small giggle because of his name*

"Looks like you brought the right id plate with you (most bring the one without guild access). would you like accept a bounty right away?" Said the girl while trying her hardest not to laugh about his name.

"Wait is it ok if i ask a few questions?"

The receptionist nods and answers all of them. First he asked about why he couldn't find any monsters from the eastern coastline till the kingdom.

"Oh you must be new in this area. The monsters hang out out further south, near the pyramid dungeon.

He was curious about the pyramid dungeon since he'd never heard anything about dungeons before, so he had asked further about it. The girl seemed a bit confused like it was common knowledge in this continent, but she answered nevertheless.

"Ever since the hero, Sir Roderick Karl defeated the demon lord baal, dungeons started to appear everywhere and safe zones were made wherever a dungeon closed. Right now there are only a few dungeon left down south, but all the monsters started to flock there and that made the dungeons hard to close"

Arlo was in a deep thought now "so there was also a demon lord here? It's probably safe to assume there are many more. I'd really like to enter the dungeon for treasure, because I'd need a lot of money to find someone to revive Krause"

"Is there anyway I'd be able to enter the dungeon" asked Arlo with glittering eyes.

"I'm not going to let you go solo, you'd need a party before I give you authorization to enter" said the receptionist with a scoff.

*A voice appears from the left of Arlo*

"Hey, I overheard your conversation and it looks like you need a party. Why don't you join ours? We were thinking of raiding the dungeon too recently" said a girl with a lower more mature voice.

Arlo looked to the left and saw a party of three. The one that had spoken to him had black hair with a bobcut style and light blue, almost grey eyes. She was almost as tall as Arlo and had a mole on her chest. She was wearing plated armour on most of her body, there was a Grimoire on her left hand and a sword sheathed on her left hip. It was safe to assume that she was a magic swordsman.

The person to her left was a very young looking guy with light brown hair in the style of a bowlcut. The reflection from his big glasses were blocking the colour of his eyes and he was wearing blue robes with an emblem on the left side of his chest.

The last guy was the barbarian from earlier.
