We sat at the counter and ordered a few drinks.
The party seemed to be going well and was more on the calm side for the most part.
"Should we have some shots?" Shiyeon asked.
I've had alcohol a few times but I've never been drunk before because I know when to stop.
A guy joined us at the counter. He looks familiar. Oh! He's Minnie's friend. He sat beside Minnie while I was in between Minnie and Shiyeon. He smiled at me before he started to speak.
"Yeah! Why not? Let's have some shots."
We had some shots but very little conversation.
I'm tired of just sitting here. We've been seated for about 30 minutes, barely talking and just drinking.
Minnie and Shiyeon were mostly on their phones probably on social media or something. I wasn't on any social media so I didn't know what else to do.
Maybe I should go around the house and just look around. "Guys I'll be back soon," I said as I got up.
"Where are you going?" Minnie asked. "I just want to look around a bit," I replied.
"Okay have fun," Minnie said as she turned to face him and she continued talking to him. "Let me come with you," Shiyeon said as she got up too.
"I'm a bit bored too, so lets just go together." Shiyeon added.
"Now I feel like I should come too," Minnie said as she got up too.
We all turned back and looked at him; our eyes and body language asking if he wanted to join us.
He stared at us in confusion for a while, but he soon caught on.
"I'll pass." He said, laughing a bit.
The house is so big, where should we even start from? If I had this kind of house, I don't think that I'd throw a party in it. Its really not worth it, maybe its just my opinion.
"Should we go check out the pool?" Minnie proposed. "Yeah!" Shiyeon and I replied almost immediately.
It's not that we were that eager to go to the pool, but the silence and confusion were making it feel tense and extremely awkward.
"Which way was it?" Minnie asked.
"I think we need to pass the living room to get there; If I remember correctly," Shiyeon replied.
We walked into the living room so that we could get to the pool. "There it is!" Minnie pointed at the glass door which led to the pool.
Just as we were about to leave the living room, a girl stood in front of the room and called for everyone's attention.
"Thanks for coming to our party. I'm Alec! You know, the owner of this house." She paused and everyone cheered for her.
"So I threw this party to mark the beginning of our lives at college. I also invited my boyfriend and his friends…" "They're the second years," Minnie whispered to me.
"…My boyfriend's sister and her friends are also here…" "Those are the third years," Minnie added.
"How do you know this much?" Shiyeon asked.
"Alec was at my high school and she was known for boasting about her connections a lot," Minnie explained.
"Were you both friends?" I asked.
"Hmm… let's just say, acquaintances. Not too familiar with each other but we are pretty much on like terms. We were okay, but I wouldn't really call what we had friendship. Plus she was quite popular. It's not like I wasn't popular either, its just that people saw me in a certain way." Minnie explained.
"…So I just wanted to thank you all for coming. The party is just getting started; we party until dawn!" Alec announced as everyone cheered her on.
What does she mean by the party is just getting started? It's almost 12!
I then realized that Alec was walking towards us.
"Minnie! How's it going?" She asked once she got close enough.
"I'm good Alec. How about you?" Minnie asked. "I'm good too. Are these your new friends?" She asked as she waved at Shiyeon and me.
"Yeah! They're my roommates." Minnie replied. "This is Shiyeon and this is Seoul." She introduced us to Alec.
"Nice to meet you both." She smiled at us. She gave off the impression of an overly nice person, so nice that she almost felt like a fake person.
"Min, I'm actually a bit surprised that you came. Are you sure these types of parties are your cup of tea?" Alec asked as she laughed a bit.
"Well, you can't expect me to have not changed. I mean, we're in college now! We party till dawn bitches!!" Minnie yelled getting hyped. Surprisingly, that did not sound cringe at all. She must have been practicing.
If I were to use any cuss word other than Shit or Fuck (which I only use as exclamations) then I'd sound so cringe. It would be horrible.
"I see. You've really changed. I never thought I'd hear you cuss. I like the new you better." Alec said nodding in approval.
"Thanks bitch! Oh! I almost forgot. It's Seoul's birthday!" Minnie said as she looked at me. This is one of the major disadvantages of being friends with someone like Minnie. She says whatever she wants without holding back.
About two hours ago, I clearly told her to pretend like she didn't even know that it was my birthday. So why is she going about telling people?
"Happy bday girl. You look great!" Alec said as she smiled at me. "Thanks!" I replied as I smiled back. I think I'm actually better at socializing than I thought I would be. Normally, by now I'd be stuttering.
"Give me a sec," Alec said as she walked to the front of the room once more.
As she was making her way to the front my eyes caught someone. He was very tall with black hair and green eyes. His overall aura was simply mysterious.
Isn't he looking where he's going? He's about to bump into that guy.
'Mr. Mysterious' suddenly rose his hand in the air. He only rose his index finger only while keeping the rest fingers down. He then lowered/bent his index finger and rose it up twice while keeping the other fingers down in the initial position.
It was almost as if he had clicked the button on top of a pen twice. Or made quotation marks in the air.
After that, he walked right through the other person. Am I the only one who saw that? The person he walked through didn't even notice him either.
"What are you looking at? Alec is about to give you a shout-out. This will definitely boost your social life. Also, quick disclaimer! Alec may ask you to say something to the crowd. If she does, say something cool. Got it?" Minnie asked after explaining the situation to me.
"Got it! Say something cool! I can do this!" I repeated.
"This is serious! This determines our social life!" Minnie said a bit too eager.
"I'm going to have to agree with Minnie. I know I'm an activist and all, but who doesn't want a good social life?" Shiyeon asked a bit anxious.
Okay. Seoul you have to do this! Your life and that if your friends depend on you right now. You can do this!
"Guys! What's up? So… today is my friend's birthday! Seoul please come over here." Alec said as she pointed at me and everyone looked in my direction.
I didn't expect things to happen this fast. I can't process this! Oh My God! What do I do now?
I quickly gathered myself together and walked to the front to join Alec.
"Something cool! Something cool! Something cool!" I kept chanting to myself as I walked to the front.
"Say something to everyone," Alec said as she wrapped her arm around me.
"Something cool!!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. I could even hear my voice echo.
Wait! Did I just say that out? Oh My God. What the fuck did I just do?! I could spot Minnie and Shiyeon panicking from the other end of the room. This is the end of my social life that had barely begun.
I looked down at my hands which I was squeezing nervously. It was a common habit of mine whenever I felt embarrassed.
Suddenly I heard roars of laughter. A-Are are they laughing at me? Isn't this a bit too mean? Don't cry Seoul! Don't cry! You can get through this.
Even Alec was laughing so hard. Minnie and Shiyeon too? I can't believe they all backstabbed me so easily.
Alec finally gathered herself together before she spoke. "Looks like the birthday girl is also a comedian."
Wait! What?! Did they actually… find it funny? It wasn't so bad after all!
Then again, I've always been a funny person but whenever I made a conscious effort to be funny it never turned out well. It only ends up funny if I wasn't making a conscious effort to be funny.
"Okay, guys! Let's not forget to have fun. Don't hold back!" Alec said as she wrapped her arm around me and she led me away from the front as we walked towards Minnie and Shiyeon.
I really don't get one thing tho. Why did they panic before they started laughing? It looked like they were really worried and then the next second they were laughing with everyone else. Something isn't right.
We walked over to Minnie and Shiyeon. They both hugged me. "What the fuck? How didn't we ever notice how funny you were?" Shiyeon asked as he laughed a bit.
Could they be? Fake friends?? No. I think I'm jumping to conclusions too fast. Maybe they were just so relieved that the crowd found it funny and it made them realize that I was actually funny.
"I'll get you a drink," Minnie said as she hurried off.
"Hey! I want a drink too!" Shiyeon yelled as she chased after her.
I then noticed that Alec was gone as well. She must've left a while ago.
I think I should just wait here until Minnie and Shiyeon come back so that they won't start looking for me.
I brought out my phone to see if I had any new messages. I wasn't surprised to find that the only messages I had were from my family members.
Maybe I can use this party as an opportunity to make more friends because to be honest, this is just sad.
Just then, I got a new message from an unsaved number. I wonder who this is.
The message read. "Hey! I'm Jae-sun, but just call me Jae. I'm Min-jee's friend. You met me earlier."
Who's Min-Jee? What's he talking about? He must be confused. Maybe its even a wrong number.
"I don't know who you're talking about?" I texted back.
A few seconds later he replied. "Minnie's real name is Min-Jee. Minnie is just a nickname."
Oh! He's the guy from before. I feel so stupid sometimes.
How didn't I realize that Minnie was just a nickname? Am I really that slow to catch up on things?
"Oh… sorry for the misunderstanding. I remember you." I texted back.
Just then, something caught my attention. It looked like a guy was trying to force a girl to kiss him. The girl looked so uncomfortable. I think I should help her out.
I mean, I feel like a hero today. Nothing bad has happened to me today. I even managed to rescue my social life. It's almost like I'm floating. The crowd sheering for me made me feel like I'm something important now.
Regardless of all that, I find it a bit disappointing that no one is even trying to help her. Most of the people around are either ignoring it or pointing at them and laughing. The poor girl must be so scared.
I slid my phone into my back pocket as I started walking over to them but before I could reach them someone grabbed my hand.
"Don't do it!" He warned, visibly scared.
I didn't know who he was as I had never met him before, so I wondered why he was worried about me.
"What's there to be so afraid of anyway?" I asked. "I can't just sit and watch this," I added.
"You need to ignore it. That's what everyone here is doing. I heard that the guy is a third year. The girl is just a first year, she has no choice." He explained.
"Don't worry about me. I'll be fine…" I tried to speak but he quickly cut in.
"He's not a typical senior. He carries a strange aura and always gets what he wants!"
"Could he be? Is it the same guy from before? The guy who walked through another person. Is that him?" I thought to myself.
With his hand placed on the wall right above her. I saw it! I saw him do the same hand motion which he did when he wanted to walk through someone.
It's like he was clicking the button on top of a pen he was holding. It was almost like he was signaling a quotation mark with just his index finger.
As soon as he did that she was all over him. It's like she was under a spell. She was the one begging him for it at this point.
Am I really the only one that sees him do that? It's not even fair. I need to help her snap back to reality.
I rushed over to them and tried to pull her away from him. Before I could even say or do anything he turned around almost immediately and pushed me against the wall.
It was almost like he was expecting me to be there. How did he even know i was behind him? Does he have eyes behind his head?
It was really him. But his eyes were grey now.
What? I literally saw his eyes a while ago when he walked through that person and they were green.
"What do you want?" He asked, his tone was a bit sluggish.
"Leave her alone! She doesn't want all this! I'm sure that you did something. I saw you!" I yelled at him.
"If you really want to hook up with someone, you can just go to a strip-club or something." I added, staring at him fiercly.
He rubbed his forehead for a while before he spoke. "Oh My! You're really a huge headache!" He sounded so irritated.
"Go to a dumb fucking strip-club. How insolent?" He muttered to himself.
He froze for a while as he stared at me. I feel so uncomfortable right now. What's going on? He suddenly started smirking.
"Do you want to hook up then?" He whispered in a sexy tone, smiling in a flirtatious manner.
He had already pushed me against the wall by then, leaning so close to me that I could feel his…! Oh My God! is that his…?
"It is!" He said as he moved even closer. Did he just? Did he just read my mind?
