Chereads / Owning The Crown Prince / Chapter 14 - 13

Chapter 14 - 13

Two months ago, Elyse was still a party girl who also handle a big corporation. Yes, that was two months ago. Now, she's just a plain royal servant. So much drama happened and her position as a director in a large company just rose down to a servant in a blink of an eye. It's been two months since Elyse entered this world and met psychopaths. Heh, talk about reliving bad memories.

It was difficult to adjust at first. After the prince and Rouge left her that time with her weak knees, she suddenly realised how unfair it is. Like how they ordered her around when she was just supposedly a normal citizen.

During the first week, she cursed those around her. What a load of nonsense. How can they imprison her without even mentioning what the hell she did wrong? The absurd conditions were beyond her imagination after Rouge and The Prince had a conversation with her, or more accurately, after they threatened her life. She screamed at everyone until they put her back to the dungeon. She nearly strangled Rouge when he visited her in the dungeon in the second week, and she was almost executed because the knights with him at the time saw her strangle their commander. She had almost cost her life. She finally gave up after the third week. However, she proposed a condition. She is a businesswoman at heart and mind. She wouldn't agree to a deal unless she got something in return. It took up to three days before the prince agreed to her contract.

In the agreement, Elyse stated, "First, they must assist her in visiting the forest where she was discovered once a month. Second, she must be safe until the time she plans to leave the palace, as working in the palace was not her first choice." She insisted that she could only stay in the palace for as long as she could because she was not from this world. Rouge misinterpreted it as "she wasn't fit to live in the palace" and agreed immediately, but it was literally what she meant. "Finally, they must allow her to use the library."

The deal goes forward with the three conditions that they agreed upon. Elyse was a multitasking employee. She works as both a food taster and a spy. The fact that she proposed a deal was unjust to the Crown Prince of the empire, so she simply requested that another task msut be assigned to her, because she won't mind. Well, her life was already in jeopardy when she met these insane people, so why not make it worse?

But being a spy never occurred to her.

She learned proper etiquette as a personal royal servant of the crown prince during her rest days before she officially began working, which makes it very important said by the people. She can only say, "duh." Learn how to greet aristocrats according to their rank. She (self) learned not to curse whenever she was angry, which was the most difficult part of her learning process.

"You don't know how to dance or greet the aristrocats properly? That's understandable given your status as a commoner. But you also had no idea what the noble ranks were?! That is ridiculous!"

Elyse remembered Rouge saying something to her when she first started learning. Rouge sees her as a fairly stupid young lady, which is understandable. It was a literal anguish. She doesn't even want to think about it. Rouge's enraged expression was her medicine when she was in despair. It's amusing how Rouge and her bacame close in just two months. They're not quite at the point where they're telling each other secrets, but they're getting there.

Not like before, when Rouge was hostile to her. And she doesn't even understand why.

Elyse's thoughts were cut short when the Crown Prince, Damek Conrad Von La Creburg, the crown prince of the La Creburg Empire, the continent's most powerful magical empire, arrived. She immediately straightened up. "I greet the Empire's Crown Prince." Elyse bowed her head. As a sign of respect to the person in front of her, she slightly bent her knee and bowed her head.

Kanous was with Rouge, the Imperial Knights' Commander in Chief. Cadmael Rouge. He was Kanous' childhood friend who rose to the position of commander of imperial knights at a young age. A brilliant swordsman who was also born into a noble family. He had green hair and was a very attractive man. "Greetings, Commander of the Imperial Knights." Rouge received a slight bow from Elyse. Aside from the fact that Rouge is a nut to Kanous, he was a pretty decent guy. He's just a little too protective of Kanous, but he's a nice guy overall.

Elyse was standing next to a two-chaired set with a small table for tea time in the garden. Aside from the greenery and trees that appear to be magical, there is nothing in the garden. Nothing, not even flowers. It's strange, but she remains silent because it's none of her business.

And Elyse discovered that Kanous's hobby is to have tea time every day in the garden, without fail. But drinking tea wasn't Elyse's thing. She would rather drink liquor than tea! But does she really have a choice? Elyse poured the tea as the two handsome men sat face to face. Because there were only three of them in that location, Elyse did everything. Of course, she drank the tea first; she's been doing so for a month now, and thankfully, she hasn't died.

Elyse bowed after completing her task and took ten steps away from the two men. She knew they were going to talk about something important.

She shouldn't be there at all as a proper courtesy of a servant, but Kanous let her stay when in the past, she abruptly left because they were going to discuss important matters.

She has no idea why he let her stay, even if they were discussing important matters in the first place. Does he have faith in Elyse? She, on the other hand, believes this is not the case. It's more likely that he has a hidden motive.

The tea time came to an end at the usual time. Kanous, the crown prince, stood up and looked at her.

Elyse understands what that look means. It's like deja vu.

She'll report back to Kanous' office on what she sees or observes while she's in the kitchen. She is the only one who obtains the prince's food and delivers it to him. Of course, most of the time the prince will not eat, so she will be the one who is full from the delectable foods, but she has another agenda aside from getting foods.

She needed to keep an eye on who was acting suspiciously in the kitchen.

Elyse was posing as a spy. She was, in fact, a spy. How can her life go from being a businesswoman to a spy in the span of a month? It was completely absurd. She now leads a double life. A spy and a taster for food poisoning. She couldn't have gotten any luckier.

They entered the grand corridor. Even if Elyse is already at the palace, she can't take her gaze away from the golden statues. Rouge, Elyse, and Kanous all arrived at Kanous' office. He sat in the chair, and Rouge, as usual, positioned himself next to Kanous, protecting him.

"As I previously stated, my prince, there is nothing suspicious in the kitchen. Everyone is behaving normally. But I recently discovered that the head kitchen maid was secretly conversing with the third prince's personal knight, which is very suspicious."

The empire of La Creburg was ruled by three princes. They have different mothers, and obviously, as a result of this, as well as the throne, they have never gotten along. They only saw each other as bugs and enemies to be eradicated. Whew, The power struggle is exhausting.

"It appears that a rat was indeed hiding inside my palace."

"I apologize for my rudeness. These rats got into the palace because of my incompetence." Rouge on the other hand spoke up. Rouge is the person assigned to the crown prince's palace's servants.

Damek's eyes sharpened. "You know what you should do to avoid making the same mistake twice. Rouge, hunt down the rats."

"Your highness, I received your imperial order."

Elyse left when the prince allowed it. She'll have time to stay at the library because it's not yet time to eat or send food to the prince. It was a library within the crown prince's palace, and it contained more accurate information than any other informant.

She's not a fan of books because they've caused her so much pain, both here and in her previous life, but she needs to figure out how she got into this mess. Elyse must investigate whether there are any connections or even a speck of a clue as to how to return to her world.

She had read in all of her books that magic existed in this world. When she read it, Elyse almost choked. Magic did, in fact, exist. She couldn't believe it, but she accepted this one because she didn't have a choice seeing as she arrived in this world without knowing how, so magic wasn't impossible!

It astounded her. This world is pretty amusing as hell. It piques her interest in what goes on in this world. But now she understands. Is it due to the presence of magic that she was sent here? Elyse was pretty busy imagining the new things she discovered that doesn't have in her original world.

Not unil she heard the door creak and some foot steps towards her. She wasn't expecting that someone will visit the library
