Chapter 2 - 1

Elyse had stopped signing and was holding some paper to read when the sounds of knocks on her door distracted her. The persistent knock caught her off guard and immediately drew her attention. "Director, the chairman's secretary came to see you," Millie, her secretary, said anxiously.

When she heard that, she had completely stopped signing and had put down the contracts she was holding just a minute before. Elyse smiled softly at Millie, who was probably worried about her becoming stressed after speaking with the chairman's secretary. "Let him in, and also prepare a coffee in case he stays a little longer," Elyse says, fixing herself to look more professional and presentable for her unexpected visitor.

"Yes, Director." After hearing Millie close the door, Elyse closed her eyes slightly. It was to help her relax. Every time the chairman's secretary visits Elyse in her office, it is never with good news. The chairman's message was always full of orders and commands for Elyse to follow. It was a burden she had to bear as a result of her existence.

"I'm coming in, Director Watson." When she heard the deep tone of a man's voice, she opened her eyes. Her expressions suddenly changed, and you could only see how confident and calm she was in her eyes.

"Yes, come on in," Elyse said, stooping up and settling into the soft sofas inside her own office. When the chairman's secretary entered, Elyse gave her usual business smile. He was a middle-aged man who had been working on the chairman's side since before she was born. He was a respectable man who also assisted the chairman in developing and expanding the current businesses that Elyse was in charge of.

"It's good to see you again, Ricardo. Take a seat." 'Good to see you? What a blatant lie!'

Ricardo, the chairman's secretary, sat comfortably in front of her. All Elyse can say is that Ricardo wasn't a stranger to her, but he wasn't also an ally. "Yes, thank you very much, Director."

"Let's get down to business," Elyse said bluntly. "What did the chairman say this time?" Her business smile faded as if it had never existed in the first place. This occurs on a regular basis. She knows, and so does the person in front of her, that the chairman's message will never be because of some good news. The chairman was actually Elyse's grandfather, but they never treated each other like family.

Before speaking, Ricardo just chuckled, as if Elyse was amusing him. "The young master will start working here next week. The chairman has ordered you to teach him how the business works and how to manage the company and its other affiliates. The chairman has also added that you must successfully teach the young master, who will be in your care commencing next week."

She ignored how Ricardo acted, but she furiously gritted her teeth because of what he said. He said, young master, it means it's Henry, Elyse's good-for-nothing little brother. "Henry? How come? He was never interested in learning about business. Did Amelia pursue him?" Henry and Elyse never got along with each other. They didn't grow up together or spend their childhood time together, so there's no way they could have some normal encounters. They are totally opposite. Henry was a bastard guy who spent his life sleeping around with some women on the street and spending money that he didn't even earn. In short, he's a piece of crap bastard.

Ricardo giggled, "You should call her your mother. Don't you think you're being a bad daughter by simply calling your mother by her name?"

She was about to lose her cool because of what Ricardo had just said. She just wants to choke on the spot after hearing that repulsive suggestion. But it would be best if she just ignored whatever nonsense he was saying. Her? Calling that woman her mother? 'Don't fuck with me.' She doesn't have a mother who sends her to hell and sells her out for business.

Elyse made a tongue-clicking motion. She's already frustrated by the fact that Henry will come into the company, but she doesn't want the person in front of her to see her in an unstable state, so she might as well call it a day. There's no way this man won't report the chairman about her reaction. "Let's end this meeting then. Tell the chairman that I'll be spending my precious time teaching Henry, so he should start thinking about my resignation. If he does, I might even start thinking greatly about him, " she stood up and voluntarily opened the door for Ricardo. "You may leave now. Send my best regards to the chairman. "

When Elyse purposely told Ricardo to leave, he didn't say anything. He simply laughed, as if she were some kind of clown performing in front of him. And he always says stupid things that aren't pleasant to hear. The chairman... Henry and Amelia... she despises them all. If the chairman could just let go of the vice grip on her neck like a dog, she'd be free. In addition, the shackles in her hand were interfering with her ability to live comfortably. If only Elyse could live freely...

They're supposed to be her family, but how come she's been more of a dog than a family since she was born?

"Director, the coffee is here..." Millie's voice jolted Elyse out of her daze. "Just put that one on the table, and the other one, please throw it away; my guess just left." she replied simply, before returning to her swivel chair in front of her office stable.

She stroked the side of her head and leaned back in her swivel chair. She is beginning to feel headaches. "Millie, before I forget, prepare a room next to mine. The young master will start working at the company next week and make sure he feels comfortable." Her head stung, "Oh, get me a pain killer too. That's all. You may leave now and continue your work." She needs her mind to be occupied with her work so she doesn't think about frivolous things. 'Don't overthink it. Stop thinking of nonsense things.'

Millie paused for a moment, probably thinking how unbelievable it was that Henry would begin working for the company. Well, he is well-known in the company for being a douchebag. "Oh, yes, Director. I will now plan on renovating the room next to yours, and I'll excuse myself." Millie responded back, but Elyse didn't respond and just focused on her work. She only saw Millie leave the office through her peripheral vision.

Millie returned with the medicine in less than five minutes. Elyse was relieved because she couldn't work unless her mind was stable. Millie was a responsible and efficient secretary. Millie has only been with the company for a year, but Elyse can say that so far, her performances have been excellent. And Elyse knows she'll do a great job working on Henry's office.
