Chapter 21 - Knowledge and Evolution

A number of techniques are recorded into this book. It must've been written by a superhuman since this describes flow in a way that he totally agrees with. A good amount of these basic techniques gives him some ideas and puts a few things into perspective. His method is stiff in the words of this book but It's not enough to magically fix it.

"Ugh... How do I improve knowing this?" It's frustrating to know a flaw and how to fix it but putting it into action is easier said than done. He's not some prodigy who picks up something instantly, So he's at a wall then an idea pops into his mind! He gets up then starts to walk out of the living area.

It's at least the evening at this point, that's enough time to train until night. He spawns a mass of starry darkness and tries to form a spike but It just shoots up like goop. That's a failure... He can picture what It describes in the book but not using it for real. He sits down with his legs crossed while in thought. "So forming a structure from a distance is harder than up close..."

"Huh, So there's odd ants wandering the forest?" Graham says while a spike flies towards his head and simply moves it. The spike leaves a dent in his ship behind him. A 2.7 meter tall humanoid monster with some ant characteristics like the ant monsters but Its body is covered in black spikes.

Graham stands up and pulls that puddle of starry darkness to his hand then forms it into a sword formation. He glares at this monster, Something is different about it before It's sudden dash towards him. His blade clashes with its body but a series of slashes across his arms appear. "W-what!?"

Its spikes managed to get past his counter attack and shredded his forearms. There's a slight numbness going throughout his body, It has a type of venom!? This is a bad match up using a sword formation but his skill with a spear formation might be too brittle against its armor.

'That monster must've been attracted by the corpses of its kin.' Alloy watches from the ship's top. She's lost in thought while watching Graham's battle which she wants to jump in and help but... It's clear he's trying to grow. She's not liking having a chance of him dying but that's important for his growth.

Graham's first real fight against a fully mature monster, A real fight in the greater universe. This wasn't a newborn monster or a simple scout but a fully developed killing machine. His body is working hard to even slow down its venom. A truly horrible monster to face one on one! He can't let something like this close to the crew.

He jumps out of the way when it swings an arm at him. His sword formation gets grazed by its forearm and the edge gets heavily chipped. This venom is slowing him down but weakening his grip on that formation is dangerous. He dashes towards the deeper parts of the woods. That thing's strength creates a small crater in the ground.

It's only a few meters from behind him. His speed might be slower but it's honestly pretty fast. This numbness is starting to make his movements more sloppy, A core reason why his body hasn't collapsed was from his tough biology. A normal person would be stuck on the ground in a helpless heap but he's just fighting through it.

A tree gets torn apart by spikes as It charges towards him, The bits of wood fly out across this forest's ground. He's weaving around them while this thing uses its brute strength to rip through anything in its path. The name is fitting for these creatures, Their strength and durability make them closer to living machines.

'Does that even feel any pain- Wait, These trees have flow in them.' Graham grins with an idea, It might waste a ton of flow. He focuses his strength into his legs and pushes himself into running faster. The numbness is slowly going away but It's still pretty strong. It's going to take awhile for him to fully recover from it.

It shoots out some of the spikes towards Graham. These seemingly miss but when he turns his head to see what flew past him. The spikes glow a slight orange before an explosion throws Graham into a tree with a series of burns. He looks up at the dusk sky, The moon is slightly visible in the orange light.

"I really needed to have my senses knocked into me..." Graham starts laughing when looking at the monster. It had this weird sadistic joy until seeing Graham's smile, A chill envelopes the area. Something shifted in him and even the monster felt it. A blade suddenly grows out of the ground made from a darkness that looks like a night sky. "My aim is a bit off in my current state."

The monster likes out a deeper screech as this blade slices into its side. He slowly stands back up which makes it back up in some newly found caution. It's been so long where he felt truly threatened by a beast. The night-like darkness pools at his feet which follows him as he steps closer to this monster.

"Hey, You were enjoying trying to kill me, Right? I hate that kind of shit." Graham seemingly speeds in front of the monster leaving a trail of night-like darkness behind. It goes for a counter attack with a swing of its arm but gets sliced right through by a blade from that pool around him. He creates a spear formation to impale its shoulder before pushing downwards.

"Those tree softened you up more than expected!" He speaks with a grin at the monster not paying attention to what it was tearing through. Those trees are way tougher than normal and this monster was stupid enough to waste energy going through them. His spear gores its torso before forming another one while leaving the last one inside that wound.

"No mercy to wicked monsters." Those were Graham's final words for this monster before being impaled through the head. He felt relief at finishing off a dangerous monster but his body felt off. His flow seemingly spinning out of control and burning hot, The wounds start oozing the night-like darkness. "Damn it, I can't stop... My... flow..."

His vision gets darkened as his flow rampages out of control. He cannot stop this Over-Flow from happening. There's more monsters deeper into the forest... That he must exterminate, cleanse this planet of their evil. Nothing that he could do to pull back control from his Over-Flow and his body steps closer to these monster in a murderous glare.

The Night-like darkness wraps and leaks around his body as he cuts into one ant monster with two drippy blades. He easily deflects two spikes before dashing at them then beheads it in seconds. Another gets bisected in the head by his blade. This battle dies down after this group of monsters gets destroyed, A instinct to hunt more takes over and disappears deeper into the forest.
