Lizeth's eyes were busy observing between Nil, who was supposed to be busy repairing her machine, and Petal, who was kept on giving sneaky & seductive glances and smiles towards Nil. All she could do was shake her head, as it seemed my friend hadn't gotten enough of their make-out and was still wanting for more.
It had been past one hour after the supposed production time had started. Yet, all Lizeth did was wait for Nil to finish, and she wasn't comfortable with that. The fact that she wasn't busy while others were was one of her least favorite activities.
Because not being busy made her mind wander in a very inappropriate way, it urges her to think and judge people's lives. She couldn't help but think about all she had witnessed and how disgusted she was with those people, especially her friend Petal.
She used to choose her friends for, as they said, 'birds at the same feather, flock together.' So, does it means if she would accept Petal as her friend, she could also be as immoral as her?
Petal was a single mother. However, Nil was married. It may be acceptable for Petal's side but being in a relationship with Nil was complicated. Her friend was a mistress.
Lizeth always believed that being a mistress always meant being cheap, that you were in that situation because you had no choice. No one better had chosen you, and all you could do was to settle for less.
"Nil, why did you do it?" Probably being triggered with boredom and immaturity, Lizeth asked Nil without thinking before speaking. She was sometimes being too careless of her actions. That was what her father kept on telling her.
"Do what?" Nil glanced at her as he asked. There was confusion on his look.
"About you and Petal," she answered unthinkingly.
Nil stopped his busy hands as he glanced around, anxious that someone might have heard Lizeth.
"This is not the right time to talk about that, Lizeth, please." He glared and said with the least
solicitation in his voice.
Lizeth shook her head. 'Of course, he is scared. That only means that he knew whatever they were doing was something to be guilty about.'
Nil wasn't so happy with Lizeth's savage remarks. He knew that kind of look in Lizeth's. She was judging them in a not-so-pleasing way. Although he knew that she was right, he wasn't expecting that from her. She was supposed to be Petal's friend and support her.
At that moment, he was suddenly concerned about her loyalty. She could be the reason for their secret affair to get exposed. Nil knew what he was supposed to do, just like what he planned before. Everything about her and Petal was supposed to end after that night, after that company holiday party, since they were just drunk and horny.
He wasn't expecting that it could be that addicting. He would feel devastated losing Petal or ending what they had even more than that.
"Had you been in a relationship Lizeth?" Nil asked with a forced smirk.
Lizeth hated to be asked about that topic, and it made her feel like people were judging her and saw her like someone not loveable. However, she can always be in a relationship, and it would be easy for her with all those courters lining up and waiting for her 'yes' word.
Nevertheless, it wasn't her time yet. Instead, for a more straightforward translation, she hadn't found the right man for her. She was still so young, and there would be lots and lots of years ahead of her. Besides, she always believed it's better to wait for the right one than waste your time with the wrong one.
It would be much harder to be stuck with the wrong person when the right one comes along.
"I had never been in a relationship, and that's because I had never been in love. I swear that I will never get into a relationship without love. Just for the sake of having someone to hook up with? Nah, forget it. I rather not." Lizeth answered confidently.
Nil scoffed, unimpressed on what she said, or maybe he disagreed, and Lizeth noticed that. Her immature sensitivity urged her the need to retaliate against him.
"You know why? Because love for me isn't a game. Being with two relationships at the same time?" She smirked and shook her head before she continued. "That is not love; that is playing a game."
Lizeth knew that she had probably annoyed Nil as she noticed his teeth gritting and his eyes focused on the machine, but his hands weren't doing anything, and he seemed thoughtful. However, that was the last straw for Nil. he stood up, losing the appetite to finish his job.
That left Lizeth speechless and worried. Without her machine, how can she work? It might mean that she would be forced to take a half-day leave, and it could only mean one thing, she might lose the pay for that half-day.
Lunchtime and Lizeth had only found Dia, who had just reached the table from ordering food.
"Hey, Dia! Where's Petal?" Lizeth asked while looking around for her other friend. However, Dia only shrugged, and without a word, she sat down, ready to devour her food.
Lizeth sat beside her while her eyes were busy roaming around the canteen.
"Hey, had you heard the clamors in the production before the lunch break?" Dia asked while chewing.
Lizeth hadn't noticed anything. She spent most of her time in the bathroom as she felt uncomfortable staying inside the production area without doing anything. Since it was also her fault that Nil gave up on repairing her machine, she had no choice but to find a way to ease her awkwardness.
"No, what's that about?" Lizeth asked, but part of her was anticipating that it could be someone's secret being revealed. It's probably someone's love affairs since it's kind of juicier than any news possible, just hoping that it wasn't Petal's and Nil. She may never agreed with their relationship, but she didn't wish them to be caught just before they could realize it.
She hoped that Petal and Nil would stop their relationship themself without anyone telling them, and before it would be too late.
"Many of our co-workers lost their things, and even some of the company's properties were lost." Dia leaned closed as she delivered her gossip to Lizeth.
