Gathering the information took a few days, but by the end of it Esmeralda was able to present a detailed report. Her writing lessons were coming in handy. Although the writing was very childish, at least I had no trouble reading it. I set the stack of papers down on my desk and turned to address our miniature war council.
"Alright, then. Our first priority is to save the victims. However, if we simply rescue the current captives, the criminals will just acquire more. We need to put them out of business. Even if we destroy the slaughterhouse, they can continue without it. If we take out just the restaurant, they can do deliveries. Even if we burn everything to the ground, they can rebuild. If we just kill and rob the owner, someone else will buy the business and continue. How do we stop this thing?"
"How are we going to avoid being killed ourselves?" Vivian asked.
