"Why are you opening a pleasure-house?" Quinn whispered at me during biology class. It was the next to last course I had left before graduation, though she had several more, even though I entered the academy after her.
"I'm not. It's Esmeralda's idea."
"If you're not doing it, how can it be Esmeralda's idea?" Quinn pointed out what would conventionally be considered a contradiction in my words.
"I'm not involved. It's her business."
"How can you not be involved when you're the owner?"
I sighed. It's not like I could explain that I didn't consider myself the owner of anyone.
"They have reasons. They're not even planning on opening it for business."
Quinn noted down something the teacher said about the functions of the brain. One thing that always baffled me was how she could talk while listening to the lecture and taking notes. I could only do two of the three at one time.
