"Let's mark all the attacks and escape routes on a map. Maybe we'll find a pattern that way," Jacob suggested. He pulled out his phone and opened a picture of a map of the city that he found in the library. However, even after marking everything, we found nothing. It seemed that after every attack, the criminals would simply escape to the nearest place where they could erase their smell, after which their trail would be lost. They weren't stupid.
"What do we do now?" I asked.
"I don't know. Do you have any ideas?" Jacob replied. I shook my head.
"Perhaps…" Esmeralda chimed in hesitantly. We both sharply turned our head to look at her hopefully.
"Yes?"
"Perhaps I could try making contact with some workers at pleasure-houses. Gossip travels quickly, and those places are hubs of gossip, especially if it's about those in the same line of work, and especially if it's about those who are of a higher rank, such as harem slaves."
