Erik and alastair snuck around the side of the church looking for a way up and saw that there was another rope leading to the top of the church from an house behind it. the duo kept walking down this side path and eventually saw a ladder on the back of a house three houses away from the church that thankfully was built side by side to save space in the city. the duo climbed to the roof of the house and alastair was surprised that there was one of those strange red chest sitting on the roof.
Alastair walked over to the chest with erik who obvious recognized the chest meaning he had some experience with them. "i told you my experience with these chest but what about you?" alastair asked erik curiously. "growing up i was a bit adventurous and while i was out and about i came across chest like this a total of three times. each time i got a completely different thing from each chest before they vanished mysteriously. the first time i got a seed of deftness , the second time i got this dagger that never needs to be sharpened and the final time i got a strange egg that to this day don't know a thing about."
Alastair was not surprised with these facts since he had read a book about the chest that have been showing up for centuries with no-one knowing where they came from. alastair was excited to see what this particular chest held and started to pick the lock but it soon became clear that this particular chest had a very complex lock and alastairs skill wasn't enough to open it. in the end erik managed to open the chest and removed the prize.
To say that the two were surprised at the prize would be an understatement with how shocked they were. the prize was a pair of maroon leather boots but that wasn't the thing that was so surprising , no that was the white feathered wings gently flapping on either side of the boots. erik looked at alastair "hey do you have any idea what this things are?" he asked confused. alastair shook his head "give me a moment and ill use a spell to check the properties." he said before a dim glow came from his hands.
In truth that glow was for show as alastair was actually checking the system for the description and was not disappointed. *Boot of Hermes: Air walk* alastair handed the boots to erik with a happy grin "these boots let you walk on the air though i'm not sure to what degree." he said pleased that the prize was very useful. "who the hell is running around dropping random things like this all over the place?" erik asked frustrated. "perhaps only Yggdrasil knows , but whatever the case these boots fit your style more than mine so take them." alastair said seriously.
Erik laced up the boots that fit perfectly somehow and the two continued across the rooftops until they reached the rope leading to the top of the church. "moment of truth." alastair mumbled under his breath before he carefully took a step on the rope which creaked under his weight but held. cautiously alastair crept across the rope making sure to maintain his balance so the rope didn't sway with his every step. soon alastair crossed the gap between the house and the church letting out a sigh of relief once he was firmly on solid roof before he motioned erik to come over.
Erik put his new boots to good use and casually walked across the very air itself and onto the roof of the church with a grin. "man these boots rock." he said happily. alastair just decided to ignore erik's statement and walked across the roof to the other much shorter rope that lead to the noble square before quickly going over it with erik following behind. the noble square was completely empty at the moment with each of the building having their lights out. after seeing that the coast was clear the duo searched around each of the buildings for any sign of this shop of dirks.
Eventually they found a small sign next to the front door of a building by the castle that said dirks finery. it just so happened that the shop door was unlocked so erik and alastair opened the door and walked in which set off a door bell that chimed at their entrance. the following events happened almost exactly like in the game where erik acted angrily but dirk eventually set him straight that he was bribing the guards to ignore erik in the dungeons. after making up dirk told erik that the orb had been moved to the kings barrow.
Alastair and erik wish dirk the best before they fled the scene and headed back to the slums where they passed through stealthily to make sure there was little evidence of them being there. once they got to the bottom of the scaffolding night had already fallen making it hard to see them at the bottom. shortly after they reached the bottom some heliodoran knights walked out the slum entrance with torches and conversed briefly before returning making it obvious the duo managed to barely dodge a bullet.
"Alright first lets head over to your hometown through the manglegrove before we hit the kings barrow near the coast and try to find a way beyond heliodor." erik said seriously. alastair nodded since this plan worked perfectly for him he was especially excited about the manglegrove since it was supposed to be chock full of medicinal ingredients. the two travel for another couple of hours before they set up camp for the night around a fire to stay warm and keep away the smaller monsters.
