Chapter 4 - Ran Away From Home

The next day. Morning

Sun with no clouds, muffled sound of beasts from the mountains, a great day to start the lessons!

"Yes, Mr Gobuda! What are we learning today?"

"Yes, Miss Goburin! We will be learning about Goblins and skills today."

And so, the lesson started with an energetic question and a mimick reply.

"You should have realised already, goblins have more than a few growth stages. From the bottom where you start as, it's a normal Goblin, then Goblin Elite, High Goblin, Hobgoblin and finally, Goblin Lord. Before becoming Hobgoblins, goblins are not supposed to fight alone, and that's why you will find your combat ability sub-par."

As the saying goes, finding one goblin in the forest means at least a party of dozen more nearby. And factoring that half the hunting party always gets annihilated in every hunt, even the undying wanderers cannot to grow satisfactorily. Even after a successful hunt successful, when there is a dozen members to share the experience, everyone could only get scraps.

"However, there is one exception to this rule, and they are goblins that shows exceptional wits among their peers. No matter which race or species, there will always be individuals born with an extra something that others don't have. They are no different from their peers, from stats to skills, mind to physique, but they are born with greater clarity of mind."

"Are they more intelligent?"

"No, if they are a goblin then they will still be as dumb as a goblin. But they possess a level of curiosity that directs their miniscule intelligence."

"But Mr Gobuda! We are humans, we can do all that too."

"Let me finish. The key is where did they directed their intelligence. As dumb goblins are, their instinct as monsters drove them to power. And the answer to power is skills"

"But Mr Gobuda! Our skill levels won't rise properly!"

"I said let me finish! To answer your question Miss Goburin, there are skill and skill level restrictions depending on Race, Dexterity and Spirit stats. Some races like the Undead denies you certain skills all together, while stats limits their level. While Goblin Elites aren't much stronger than Goblins, they have much higher dexterity." It means that the level limitation should have lifted a little since they evolved now.

"Is that why we are learning about skills today?" The hoarse voice of Goruk rang this time. It's refreshing.

"Yes, a goblins growth is inseparable from skills unlike other races. They have inborn physique, unique racial abilities, dextrous hands or a mixture of all. Goblins only have numbers, which does little for individuals than for the entire race."

"Mr Gobuda! You speak as if you're not a goblin yourself!"

"Shaddap! Don't question my race!"

…oops. Though she said something insensitive, it was not really a problem. It's not even insulting, just that I've let my teacher's façade slip and went back to my normal speech.

Before the energetic gob latches on, I handed out sheets of paper that I've prepared.

"On it are some skills are their acquisition method. I have noted some of the more crucial ones so make sure you get as many as you can."

-That's all!

Saying that, I ran, leaving behind my four students staring dumbfoundedly.

It has ended earlier than I intended, but from this little session I realised how difficult it is to be a teacher. Gotta plan my lessons more carefully, self-control too. My first day and I've gotten too excited and embarrassed myself.

Aaahh, what should I do.

I wanna go home.

… But I just ran away from my home.

In the sparse classroom where there are only four students, silence reigned as the sole teacher rushed out.

Being the first time in school all her life got Rina too excited, the two weeks of new joy did not die down at all and only rejuvenated more today. She had been tied to the hospital bed for as long as she could remember, only recently was the Full Dive VR game released and that she had a chance to experience life. Because of her lack of common sense, she did not hit off well with other players. After learning more about the game and knowing about the nature of different species, she deleted her human avatar and joined the goblins.

"It was my first day of school and I got into trouble…"

"You don't have to worry about it." Having heard her brooding, Goruk consoled her. "It's very easy to get into the mood with how real everything is."

"But class got cut short because of me. Even though everyone has it hard trying to get stronger…"

"Come on now, we already got what we need." He waved the list of skills. "Moreover, like you said, this is only the first day. There are more chances to interact with him." Seeing her disappointed from how the class proceeded, or how it ended abruptly, Goruk was a little flustered at her child-like mentality.

"But…"

"If you are really sorry, you should apologise next time instead of beating yourself up about it."

"Your right." Bam. She got up. "I'll go find Mr Gobuda and apologise!"

"Wait, I meant tomorrow…"

Rina has long dashed out before he finished his words. Alni who saw the antics smiled as Rou got up and left quietly.

The two remaining glanced at each other. A frontline and a healer.

"Should we party up?"

"Sure"
