Chereads / The Absurd Journey Of The Apocalyptic Sage / Chapter 5 - You Are Now Goblins!

Chapter 5 - You Are Now Goblins!

An hour after my embarrassing display. "Mr Gobuda!!!" I was caught in the Training Field, absentmindedly picking on some goblin shamans as I kicked and rolled them in mud. It was a situation was no different from bullying, especially when the gobs are caked in dirt and tears.

W-w-wait, t-this isn-

"I'm Sorry!!"

-eh? Why are you apologising?

"I was insensitive, and I made you angry."

…Ohh, did they think that the little outburst was because I'm angry. Did she think it was her fault?

Well, goblins are born savages so they all have volatile temper. It dies down as we evolve but it is still difficult to keep up the dignity of a teacher. In fact, I wasn't angry, just embarrassed. It's not your fault.

I explained so to Rina, and she seem truly relieved that what she thought wasn't the case.

"By the way, how did you find me." The city is not really populated but it's still a decently big fort. Not to mention the training field is surrounded by walls and a glance from the entrance is far from enough to find me from many other goblins. My stature is taller than most but I'm not the only one here. So how did she find me in just an hour.

"Yes, I looked around for a while without any hope, but then I remembered the handout you gave us. I looked through the skills and tried learning and ."

"That is far from enough to find me, especially if you've just learnt them. What other skills do you have?"

"Um." I waved the little shamans away as I waited. They were shedding tears of joy and looked reverently at Rina before leaving. I thought it's common sense for wanderers to keep track of their skills since they directly relate to their power. But she seems clueless about such things. "I have , , and… ?"

"Why was that a question?"

"I don't remember doing anything to get that."

"What level is it?"

"Five"

-PUU!!

"Mr Gobuda!?"

I broke into a coughing fit as I heard the level. Just to clarify, lv 2-3 is the average level of a field unit, like common soldiers and adventurers. Without any systematic training, it will take about a year to reach that point. Lv 4-5 can be reached with effort alone, anyone who has a skill of this level are considered experienced and veteran of their trade. is an intangible skill thus it relies greatly on an individual's sense, rarely do you find it in high level.

Rina has at level 5, and it was only two weeks since she came here. It explains how such a clueless person can keep up with the other three who reeks of the word 'experienced'.

"Rina-"

"Please call me Goburin!"

"O-oh." I was taken back by her enthusiasm. "Then Goburin, I will tell you now that you are talented."

"Really!?"

"Yes, and if you want I can refer you to the Hunter's Guild and have them-"

"No! I want to stay in the academy!"

It seems like her mood had flipped after her burdens were lifted, she is acting like she did before.

"But I don't think goblins can be a good teacher."

"We're goblins too!"

"No, you're humans right?"

We argued back and forth. The academy was more of a pet project of mine that I pushed through with mu authority. That's why I'm trying to be careful with the students.

"But I want to be a goblin here in this world, so it's fine to treat me so."

"Is that so?"

"Mmm!"

"You won't complain?"

"M-mmm."

Oh, she stuttered. As expected of .

"Then I will change the lesson plan a little. I won't be treating you guys like humans anymore and teach like goblins. I will meet with everyone in class tomorrow. And thanks."

I was determined to teach them everything they need. Since they cannot die what I taught will never be lost. They will only become more powerful every day. But I had my reservations for how to pace my lessons. They are not as clueless as goblins and they have more choices than to stay as a goblin. I would not want my first students to leave because I was too brutal.

But it does not matter anymore. At least one will stay.

"Good morning everyone!"

"Good morning Mr Gobuda."

"I had thought about it much yesterday, but after one day of academy's opening, I have decided to change the lesson plans." I said straight to the point. Monsters and goblins should be more direct. "Before I have treated you like humans-"

"But we are humans."

"-but now you're not! I have been enlightened and I will treat you like goblins you should be! The lessons before were tailored to match human's culture and environment, but now the academy will be more of what you know as training camp. I will train you like how goblins should be trained!"

Goruk seemed a bit weirded out by my outburst. Rina is nervous of what's to come. Alni seemed expectant…? And Rou is still quiet, but his eyes holds some amusement.

"Of course, you are free to quit if you can't take it." I teased, fully prepared to mock the them for being lesser than goblins wherever they go.
