Air quickly slapped our faces when we managed to open the metal door.
It took as a while because like I said the explosion and the stumbling might have damaged the lock. But thankfully, Diana is an expert because she once been locked into a cage just like this.
The reason? Don't know, I'll just ask it later.
Upon stepping in the ground, we realized that we have fallen into a nearby forest. Just beside my company building, wow I never knew the back of my company has an amazing view like this.
If I only knew, I've been here a couple times and would love to spend every minute I have.
Just as I was taking the scenery, shouting from afar drew our attention. And realizing the voice, we quickly take our pace. Taking a clear unknown path.
Dry leaves crunches in our every steps, and crickets starts to filled up the area.
"Did you have your phone, ma'am?" Diana asked me when darkness starts to engulf our way.
Checking my pockets I shook my head when I didn't felt my phone. I must've left in my table. All I have was my car keys, pen, and a pocket knife? Why did I even bring a pocket knife with me.
"How bout you?" I asked I hope. But to my dismay, she shook her head and only lift up the envelope and her lighter.
"You have a lighter, that could do it." I said to her.
"Oh! Yeah! I forgot." She laughed to herself as she was about to lit the lighter I signalled her to stop and pointed the moon.
It's shining brightly, and we can see our way. Means we don't have to use a lighter, yet. Because Cindy's group might find us and heaven knows what can they do to us if they ever found us. Especially, that we are in the middle of the forest.
Getting what I mean, she brings back inside her pocket the lighter and starts to take our way towards nowhere.
The cold air grazes towards us even though we're wearing clothes, we shiver in the feeling. Our clothes isn't enough to keep us warm, but we have to get going or else out faith will be ended in this night.
The night went deeper and heaven knows how long we've been walking. Our feat aches and of course we're exhausted.
We didn't spot any small house that could be our shelter for this night. Which leaves us to a decision to keep walking. Although the night became colder, we managed in not being freezed in the middle of the night.
"Agh! I'm exhausted." Diana cried silently almost whispering to the air.
Stopping in a nearby trunk, I looked around to spot any thing that could shelter us.
My heart almost went out in joy, as I spot a tree house just a meter before us. It's not noticeably, specially in the night.
"There!" I pointed at the tree. And Diana who was feeling tired suddenly got her energy back and run towards the tree.
We slowly climb up, carefully to not make a sound. We've managed to get them lost for now, but we knew there just tailing us. The ladder is hidden between the two big tree, so nobody could ever notice and the house up above is being covered by the big lush leaves of the two trees.
"Here," Diana offered her hand to me when she has reached the top. Reaching it, I quickly pulled myself up the wooden surface before we heared a loud scream below the ground.
Hiding ourselves from the big trunk of the trees, we saw them walked past us. But the sigh of relief didn't let us breath when we noticed that one of her men looked up, in the tree we are.
We are dead. I said to myself as I held my breath. I saw Diana taking a peep, carefully not to be seen by him.
The darkness must've played trick to his eyes, as we watched him walked away, shaking his head.
"Oh! God!" I gasped silently, finally realesing the breath I have been holding earlier.
We waited for them to go a kilometer and disappear before we finally came out to where we are hiding. Letting the surrounding engulf us, we here their faint voices disappears in a distance.
Using the lighter, we opened the door that let out a noise because of the rust on it. We shrinks in fear that one of them must've heard it but we managed to get inside it. The room isn't small nor big, it's just an enough space for a four person to fit in.
Through the flickering light of the lighter, we took a quick scan to the whole room. There's a window, facing north and in a distance anybody can see the light flickering. Grabbing a cloth, I quickly cover the window to prevent them seeing us. After I fixed it, we rammaged to the drawer to look for a candle that we could use.
"Here, I found one." I heared Diana say behind me. And I sigh because finally I can rest and lie down.
Fixing the matres, which has been left for a long time and sheet. We placed a wooden chair behind the door, and double checking if we have locked the door securely.
"What do we do now?" Diana asked filled with worry.
"I don't know, Diana...I'm deeply sorry for this mess I've brought you into." I apologies to her because of me she's here hiding like a mouse like me.
Gosh! Why does life has to be cruel?
"Oh don't be, ma'am. I take this as an adventurous thrill in my life." She answered happily which made me chuckle. No doubt she truly loved adventure.
"Even with action on it?" I joked.
"Even with action on it."
"We'll then, we should get some sleep because by tomorrow. The real action takes place." I said which silences her a moment.
I saw her face filled with worry and fear but they all vanished in a blink of an eye. Replacing a strong and fierce woman infront of me.
"Good night, madame."
"Good night."
Clutching my ring, I silently prayz that this thing has a tracker on it. Massimo must have already learned about the explosion in my building. And must be looking for me.
"I have trust on you." I whispers to the air as darkness slowly engulf my exhausted body.
