Chapter 18 - Chapter Eighteen

The sun hasn't set out yet, we are already on our way. Continuing our way out, into this forest. Where on earth are we? Are we still in New York? When does New York has this large forest with no ending?

We have taken off our heels, turns out it made our pace faster. But also gets our feet hitting prick by thorns or stones.

"How far do you think we are?" Diana asked to me. Wiping her sweat on her forehead.

"I don't know." I answered honestly, fanning myself with my own hand.

As we're about to get going, a sound of clicking gun filled out ears. That made our pace stops.

Raising our hands, we didn't make a sound nor a movement.

"What a chase, we had, Ires." A venomous sound came from behind and a bitter chuckle escape my mouth.

"It truly is." I agree.

With our hands tied, they made us turns around. Facing her, who now has a big smile on her face.

The woman infront of me, is already different from before. The bubbly and happy Cindy has been replaced by this wicked woman infront of me. The smile she has isn't genuine and I felt my back hair stood up because of how her eyes looked at me blankly.

So this is truly her. The true self, which I haven't known.

"Poor Ires, guess you'll have to say goodbye to the world." She evily said. Letting the gun touches my chin. The cold metal grazes my skin and it made me grit my teeth in fear and anger.

"What have I done to you?" I spat at her which she only laughed at.

"You knew, because I already told you. Smart escape by the way. I thought you're already dead. Tsk. What a disappointment!" She tsk'd walking around me.

Along my peripheral vision I saw Diana slip the envelope in between the two truck just beside her. Nobody noticed it because everyone's focused on us.

"Move them along." She ordered and a pair of hands grabbed me by my shoulder and forces me to walk.

"Get your hands of me." I hear Diana yells at one of the men.

"Shut up!" He deeply answered which stops our track. That voice! Could it be?

"Move along." Someone nudge my shoulder causing me to divert my attention to the ground. Terrible pain quickly shots my system. Groaning slightly, I take a step forwards but not letting the man beside Diana out of my sight. I saw her trail the man beside her, and confusion can be evident from her eyes.

He must have felt her stare as he looked at her eyes, and small gasp escape her throat. Looking at me wide-eyed. As she was about to mouth me some words, the man besides her whispered something which she only nods in response.

My mind right now is filled up with thoughts. But I sure do know that I know that man. Just by his eyes, I can already tell who he is.

But please, let it be him.

I didn't realized that we reached a cleared camp site. Which I can already tell, is where they camp last night.

Tying us in a separate trunk, I stared at her wondering why? Why must take a different path? Just to see me in my demise.

Cindy must've order something to her men because I saw them nod all their head in sync. Leaving us three all alone.

"Now, now, Ires dear. Are you ready to face death himself?" Tauntingly I must say she looked like the devil himself.

The laugh I did must've insulted her because a hard hit slapped my right cheek.

"Ah! That felt good." She moan to herself.

"Now, going back. Before you meet your death, I'm gonna ask you to sign this paper over here...." Opening a while folder, and I already know what it is. "...before I blow her head." Gun pointed at Diana, which makes me pale.

No! Not Diana, she's innocent here.

"Don't you dare, hurt her. She's exempted to our fight. Let her be. " I growls at her.

"So, sign it." She said.

"Bitch, how can she sign when her hands are tied?" Diana yells at her which maddens Cindy. Hitting Diana on her head, which knocks her out.

Loosing my tie, just enough for me to sign the paper.

"Dran you." I muttered before signing the paper with no hesitation. I don't want any single iinocent be dead because of it. And I don't care if I give away my sweat and blood that I've guild.

"Good choice." She happily took the folder away from me before a deafening sound filled up the whole forest.

"Good night, Ires. Sleep tight." A cooed voice rang as I slowly loss my vision.

Third Person's Point of View

"You son of a bitch!" Diana yells as she regain her consciousness. The lady who she looked at with, is now gushing in blood.

The hit must've been hard causing her to slip in a short sleep but because of the sound. She regain her conscious.

"Ah! The new secretary. Pity, how I see you. Being ordered around and just following her behind. " Cindy says in pure disgust. Pointing the gun towards Diana.

"Oh! Shut up! Miss Xyle is the best boss you could ever imagine to be. I just don't know where you have you putted your rotten brain to be in this state. " Diana answered back, taunting Cindy who is now in the verge of griping her neck.

Jealousy. Jealousy is what took her to be in this state. Even though Cindy doesn't want to admit it, it has always been the envy and jealousy that has been with her. Ever since , she saw how Ires got everything Cindy could ever wanted.

"YOU SHUT UP! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!" bloodshot eyes looked at her with an emotion she could ever fathom. It made Diana stopped but when she took a second glance to her dying madame. The pity inside her vanished.

"Oh I knew. The jealousy and envy, it is?" Diana asked tauntingly to Cindy. The gun shakes in her hand and as she was about to pull the trigger. Cindy puts it down, giving her a smile which confuses her.

"Nice play but I have to run. " Cindy said placing the gun back to the hostler. Fixing her hair, she deliberately pulled a sunglass and puts it in.

Turning around and leaving the two person. Tied in the trunk. One bleeding in death. And one screaming in anger.
