At once, a long list appeared in front of Char:
[1 sign-in gained daily. Sign-ins required to instantly merge with system-gained rewards. Sign-ins exchangeable for higher-grade rewards. Sign-ins redeemable for random rewards e.g. items, abilities, talents, etc. Rewards have 'sign-in values', a number which averages its power, utility, versatility and rarity. Sign-ins exchangeable for specific rewards at a 10× s-iv rate. Random rewards dependant on elements in location. Rewards tiers: trash(×1) useful(×10), rare(×100), epic (×1000), legendary (×100000), mythical (×10000000), godly (×948727365279, increasing).
Salvation for the dry: Consumer no longer needs to drink water.
Momentary Host lifespan: 20 days (starvation)]
Char, who had just sat up, immediately lay back down. Too much information.
The list shortened:
[Sign-in daily. Accumulation. 20 days.]
The last part flashed red. Char sighed. "In other words, I can't do anything today?" he mused and waited for tomorrow. He would use the sign in right away tomorrow.
At midnight the s-iv balance increased to 1, though Char was not awake to witness this.
Upon waking up, he stood, stretched and shook his blonde hair. Sand shot out like bullets. He then redeemed the sign-in using but a thought.
A batch of bananas fell to the sand. Char, a fan of sustainability, could only shake his head. Relying only on a batch of bananas a day, he was doomed. Even if he could slimly survive, he did not want such a life.
[Accumulating 10 s-ivs will grant the host a reward of the 'useful' tier] the system suggested.
Char wolfed down the bananas as he pondered this. Though, after he finished, he realised that there was nothing to think about.
The system had released another detail; [Momentary host lifespan: 100 days (malnutrition)].
In other words, from meagre portions of bananas and maybe coconuts per day, he would not survive much longer than a year at most. Accumulation it is. Thankfully, he did not have to starve for 10 consecutive days. He could sign in every few days to stave off some of his raging hunger.
After 3 days, he redeemed again. This time, he received 6 coconuts. He broke the shell by banging one coconut against another, liquid spraying out as one tumbled away towards the sea. Char quickly collected it and drank the rest of the liquid still inside. He then broke away parts of the shell and ate the meat.
Char repeated this for all the coconuts, though the last proved far more difficult. He no longer had a solid counterpart to brake open the shell, as the coconut remains were too thin.
While he worked, he also noted that the reward seemed to have increased from last time.
[S-ivs above a tier threshold increase quantity of the reward of the same tier] the system added.
The longer he waited, the less problems with food he would have? Char nodded his head in approval and excitement.
But, should he continue to accumulate in order to secure a higher quantity of useful rewards? Casting his lonely eyes across the coconut shells, Char nodded once again.
After all, perhaps he would have a higher chance of gaining something akin to underwater breathing or flight. Anything to get off this island.
Once again with nothing to do, he gazed at the sky, pondering such things as the existence of a multiverse and why he could never quite solve a Rubik's-cube, even after 20 tries.
