"I sent Neo and those two away on the emergency evacuation mission as a way to invoke Grim's compassionate side. I am well aware that he said that he was willing to help us but after hearing what everyone had to say about him I find myself doubting his legitimacy." Arnold said he was holding in his hands a stuffed box. They were packing up and preparing to leave the moon as soon as the invasion was over.
"Then why did you send Neo with them, she could be in trouble?" Mona said while standing at the entrance of the ship.
"If they defect Neo won't fight them, she would instead run to us as if she were betrayed. If I had sent you guys you would have definitely gotten yourselves killed."
"No, we would not,"
"Sekai just got caught in the media play a few minutes ago. Do you know how much you have to annoy Grim for him to use that ability on you and still let you live?"
"Clearly not annoyed enough, I would kill him at the first sign of distrust."
Arnold sighed shook his head and just walked past her.
They continued to pack up and when they were done they went over to the place where they were evacuating the civilians. When they got there they met Betty and asked her about the whereabouts of the others.
Betty told them that they got off to take care of the officials that had arrived ahead of schedule. They quickly got inside Betty and flew back there, but this was around the time the fighting was done and the enemy ships were closing in on them.
A few minutes into their journey the two ships appeared and towered over the Betty. Wasting no time at all officials started dropping from their ship like bombs, their sabres were out and ready to strike the ship.
Only two managed to get some strikes in and Mona's brother went out to take care of them. Betty began reversing as quick as she possibly could and the two big ships followed.
"Betty, lead them as far away as possible from the people."
[Roger that captain.]
They flew on and on, with Betty dodging bullets. For the officials that were left on the ground, Choka was dealing with them himself. He was handling the situation pretty okay, and he was confident that he was going to make it out without a scratch.
After thoroughly defeating them, Choka turned his back on them to rush in the direction the ship was heading. After running for a while he heard an ear-piercing roar come from behind him. He turned to look and he found 5 giant red monsters, they charged him as soon as their eyes met.
Choka knew right then as he saw that he was not a match for all of them. So he continued running but this time made sure to go in between houses and anything that looked like an obstacle. Whenever he came across anything that could be used as a weapon he would pick it up and slow down the nearest monster to him.
That did help create some distance between them but it did not halt their movement or seem to cause any significant harm to them. He finally ran into a building, most of the houses here were small and only had one floor. This tall one was a rarity and a gift. It did not go that high but its having a staircase and some lively furniture made it an attractive battleground.
As soon as he walked through the front door the monsters were delayed, he grabbed a curtain rail and rammed the one in the front. He broke off the ballpoint of the rail and scratched the remaining edge on the ground to sharpen it. After that, he stabbed the monster in the front.
The monster grabbed the rail as soon as it impaled its shoulder and yanked it as hard as it could. This sent Choka flying towards it and he let go of the rail midway throw. He rolled on the ground and threw the ballpoint into the monster's mouth.
The monster tapped out and the others began to eat it. Their already red skin was covered up further by the blood and guts of their dying comrade and their builds became bigger. Choka ran to the stairs and broke off two metal spindles and held them in one hand as he proceeded up the 4 story building.
He ran up the first floor, and he heard a loud crash down there. He heard their roar and wondered if anything he was planing from here on end would do much. But he stayed positive, fire is what he needed. The energy that regent abilities produced was very flammable although in most cases it was inefficient in killing regent users it was still very painful. He held on to the hope that they were at least still able to feel the pain of fire.
He ran into all the rooms upstairs until he found one with a few oils in it and among those oils was some jet fuel. He did not discriminate against them, he took them all and headed to the stairs with them. The monsters were only halfway up because they kept throwing each other off.
He opened the containers and let them loose on the monsters. One of the oils must have been poisonous because there was some burning on the monsters' skins. He lit his lighter and threw it on the stairs.
BOOM!
The shock from the explosion slammed Choka through a wall and against another. His ears were ringing, his vision blurry, and his entire body screaming with pain. The first floor had also caught on fire and so he crawled for his life towards the next flight.
Among the songs of fire came the screams and roars of the monsters, the roars became louder and more in sync. The bigger monster was tearing through the smaller monsters and eventually, only it came out alive. Its skin continuously melted like rubber but it quickly healed itself as time went on.
It took slow but giant steps up towards its prey, it could not see, hear, or smell but it knew that it had to kill. It could sense life around it and it went with that, something it needed to turn off. It was not the fading life of Choka it wanted.
It was the hundreds of beating hearts it felt coming from the opposite direction. Once reaching the edge of the house it jumped off and slowly walked to answer its true calling. The house continued to burn and burn until it collapsed in on itself.
Everything that the monster passed by was set on fire and it burned violently. It did not turn unless there was an obstacle in front of it, and if it could not avoid said obstacle it would punch it down. Finally, the monster was facing the emergency centre and the people inside could feel the heat coming from its direction. They could hear its footsteps and they could also feel them shake the ground.
They started amongst themselves and tucked in closer than ever. The men stayed in front and armed themselves as usual. There was a boy with a missing leg standing at the front and he wanted to leave and confront the monster head-on. They yelled at him to stay put because the pirates would protect them. He laughed the statement off and went outside.
He started screaming at the monster to leave them alone, that he was not scared of it nor death itself.
The monster just kept on pushing forward without saying a single thing nor reacting to the young boy's taunts for obvious reasons. The boy held on firmly to his digging fork and slowly made his way towards the monster. He stood strong on his foot and prosthetic.
The older men came from behind saying things like they cannot let a child die while doing their duty, it would be unsightly. They cheered each other on and marched forward with their voices bringing the dusty moon to life.
The monster stretched its arms out and roared. The roar was so loud everybody stopped in their steps and swallowed all the saliva in their mouths. They froze there and could not make any more movements even if they wanted to.
The heat that came from the monster also made it hard to focus. The harder they tried to move the heavier their bodies became. This was also a moment were their adrenaline was at it's peak so their senses were heightened.
As fighting back became harder, monster only got closer.
