Ah! Where am I? What am I lying on? This thing is so soft. Is this paradise? But I don't remember doing deeds deserving for me to ascend to paradise.
I opened my eyes as I greeted two unfamiliar faces filled with worry looking at me.
Suddenly, a stinging pain passed my head as I shut my eyes close tightly. "GENEVIEVE!? DOCTOR! DOCTOR! PLEASE LOOK AT MY GENEVIEVE! MY CHILD-"
Genevieve? Who is Genevieve? I am Sophia. Why are they calling me Genevieve?
As if god decided to be merciful, I remembered when I first woke up in this place. It was a field of lush green grass under the bright blue sky. I sat up as I tried to open my eyes but the sunlight seemed too bright. I raised my hand to block it only to be left shocked to my core because my hand seemed to have grown smaller. It wasn't just my hand but my whole body which seemed to have shrunk down in size. And then…
Ah yes! There was a stinging pain as I fainted back. But guess that doesn't answer my question of where I am right now.
Haiz…
I slowly opened my eyes to see a teary face of a woman, who was looking at me closely. I sat up to ask her why she was crying but before I could speak, she pulled me into her embrace as sobs left her mouth. She was gorgeous. But why the hell was she crying as if someone had just died in front of her? Most importantly, her embrace didn't disgust me. It felt rather warm. So warm, I could have melted in that embrace.
"You scared mom, Genevieve. I thought something happened to you. If it really did what would I have done? You are my whole world, my child." Oh! She's the mother of the owner of this body, I think. To be honest, seeing this I felt quite jealous of the owner of the body. So lucky to have such caring…
"Oh my child!"
Scratch that, crying mother. Well, she was crying for the well being of her daughter so I guess it works.
I raised my little hands as I patted the woman's back. "Momma… Genevieve is fine. Dun cry please."I said that, trying to be as cute as possible. The woman let me go as soon as a hand was kept on her shoulder. I was shocked when I saw her face though. Such a beautiful face, covered in tears. I just fainted, why are you crying so much? It's not a big deal. I fainted many times in my past life but no one ever cried for me. They all laughed saying I was weak. Then why do you?
But honestly, it felt nice. I liked it. I don't know why but I liked the warmth I received. Was I being selfish, right now?
Picking up the handkerchief lying on my pillow, I wiped her tears as she gazed at me with a sad smile on her face. As soon as I was done, a large warm hand patted my head. I looked up to see a man. He looked divine. White hair, golden eyes… But why did those eyes seem so sad?
"You worried dad, Genevieve."
Dad. Oh! This man is my dad.
"Sorry dad for worrying you." I apologized immediately remembering how my foster dad used to get angry whenever I showed any weakness. How he used to blame me, whip me. He whipped me as if he was training an animal for his circus show. My meetings with the whip were so frequent that even the whip seemed like a friend to me.
"Don't apologize, dear. I am just sad that my daughter didn't come to me when she wasn't feeling well. Did dad do anything wrong, Genevieve? Please tell dad. He'll rectify his mistake."
What the -!? Damn I apologize for cursing at you earlier, dear great lord. I like this situation a lot. Oh father! Oh mother! Why are you guys so damn sweet?
"What's so special about her? Why such a big fuss? She's an idiot in the end." I turned my head as I heard the doctor blabbering to himself.
Oh! So this person is a bit special but that's too much. How could you make such cruel remarks at such a young child? I mean what has she ever done to you? I turned to look at my father. His face seemed like he was ready to go on a killing spree.
"Ehm… Viscount? Can I check the lady now? I have other patients to tend to." The doctor said, looking at my father with a bored look.
I think he means to say that his time is too precious to waste on me. Okay.
"Father?" I said just as my father opened his mouth to say something.
"Yes dear?"
"I think Mister doctor means to say he's too busy to tend to an idiotic child like me. It would be better for us to not waste his time and I think I'm fine." I said with a sarcastic smile on my face, leaving everyone in the room shocked. My father too was shocked but he recovered soon as he grinned looking at me.
"I see. Since that's the case. Grey?" He called a knight dressed in grey clothes forward. His name really suited him as his hair was grey too. Unique.
"Yes, Lord?"
"Escort the doctor out and bring another doctor in for my daughter's treatment."
"Yes Lord. Please Doctor Benjamin." Grey said with a stoic face as he escorted the doctor out of my room.
"I am sorry, honey. It was mom who found this incontempt doctor for you." Mother said looking down with a guilty look on her face as if she had committed a huge scene.
"It isn't mother's fault as one's character and thoughts aren't written on their faces." I replied as I smiled at her, trying to ease her worries but only resulted in making her more worried with my mature responses.
"Genevieve? Why does it feel like you have changed?" Father asked, raising his eyebrow.
Well...I guess dad that's because I have. Souls have been replaced but you don't need to know that now.
"Maybe dad could call it a wake up from a very very deep slumber?" Since she's an idiotic lady. I guess this answer should suffice. But as soon as I said that the doors opened as a tall guy dressed in doctor's clothes entered accompanied by Sir Grey.
"Viscount?"
"Ah! Imperial doctor Lucas. Please have a look at my daughter."
Wait… Imperial doctor? The doctor of the Royal Family? What the heck is he doing at the household of a Viscount?
Just as these thoughts were running in my head, the doctor came close and looked at my eyes.
"She seems to be suffering from exhaustion, Viscount. I think it would be better if she rests in a calm place for a few days." He said in a hurried manner as if he had to catch a train.
"I see." My father said, looking at me with even more worried eyes.
"Here is the list of medicines. I think you should send her to your farmhouse on the outskirts of the country. That place might have a good effect on her body and might as well refresh her. That's all. I'll take my leave now." Doctor Lucas said and left as quick as the wind which touched your cheek soothes you for a moment and then disappears.
"Since my daughter had a 'wake up'. Please tell me your thoughts, princess." My dad asked, grinning at me. I can't believe it. He didn't grow suspicious. He didn't question how. He just believed me. This kind of father… Ah! I guess I might have done something great to receive such a family or the God is too merciful.
"Honey, you can't be thinking of sending our fragile daughter to the outskirts! I don't accept this." Mother said looking angry at father. It felt as if she was about to go on a hunger strike for me to not go but it's quite a good opportunity for me to learn about this world.
"Cristia. It's Genevieve's choice. I won't be forcing her and moreover she won't be going alone. Grey is my best knight. He will accompany her and the maids too."
What a supporting dad!
"But she's only 12!" Mom screamed as she stood up.
"Let her make her choice. I trust my daughter." Father said as he hugged mother.
"Father."
"Yes?"
"I will go. But I have a request I need you to fulfill." I said as I looked at him with a big smile on my face.
"Oh?"
